I have a web page on which there is a gridview control. The gridview contains the grades (in textbox controls in each row of the gridview) for students and allows entries and updates. The student may eventually end up with 200+ grade records for all the lessons and units in a course. I have quite a few regular users, and only one reports a recurring problem as follows: When they have entered some new grades for a student and saved them, they go back later and find that whole blocks of grades that had been entered prior to the last grade entries have been blanked out.
That is, the grade records still remain, but there are no grades in them (the grades are blank). These textboxes were not necessarily visible on the screen (as the gridview is contained in a panel with scrollbars), but were still populated when the user was entering the other grades. Has anyone heard of any viruses that blank out textboxes in forms that are displayed on a screen? I have checked my code and found nothing that would cause the old values to be blanked out. Moreover, I have other heavy users who do not have this issue.
I have a system created that a user at one of our other locations and on their server inserts a record. That data is then replicated to a central server. Users working on the central server are allowed to edit that record which means I have to lock the editing capabilities at the location the record was created.
However, i would like the creator of the record to be able to edit it so I am thinking about redirecting them across servers to edit the record on the central server. IS that bad practice and why??The reason I only allow editing on one of the copies of the record is to prevent it from being copied over in replication
I have question regarding printer option page which pop up when i click on print button on crystalreportviewer and when i click okay on that pop up page it displays print preview of the report.
Is there any way to skip that pop up window(Printer Option) and just display (PDF)print preview screen instead?
(I am not exporting report to pdf, just want to display printview screen and when the user click on print button it will print out the page)
I have tried following code but i am getting error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I have upgraded web application from VS.2008 to vs 2010. I was using previously ReportViewer 2008 control in a page and replaced with 2010 ReportViewer Control.
I have installed the ReportViewer Redistributable also in my local pc as well as in the server. Also as per the new requirement I have placed the Scriptmanager in the web page where the reportviewer control located.
While running the page, the reportviewer run the report and is not showing the data on the screen. It shows the blank screen. But If I export the data to execl or world it is showing the data. Also the page numbers in the reportviewer showing the total pages available in the navigation bar. I am sure the report is running and bringing the data to the screen but not showing it.
The below is the exact scenario, One form will be there and when user click on "Edit" hyper link other window will open to get more details. In that new window also I have a grid or a table which has other hyperlink which lead to open other window and in that window I will enter few details and save it....
I have five menu items that i have created as a user control and placed on the master page. Now i want one of the menu items to be visible only for particular user role and not visible for others. Here is what I did. Its not working though.
Dim DST As New DataSet DST = dataObject.RunSPReturnDataSet("uspUserProfile '" & Session("UserID").ToString & "'", "mytbl") 'Dim US As New DataSet [Code]....
I have a repeater which is binded using a Collection of Entity Data Framework.
Once the repeater is binded using the datasource, the user can control the no of rows present in the repeater using a Dropdown list on the page. For ex: if datasource has 2 rows, user want to add 3 more rows, user selects 5 from dropdown, which adds 3 additional rows to the Repeater. I am able to do this.
The repeater has textbox controls in each row. Now once the user enter the values in this textbox of the newly generated rows, the user can save the values entered with the no of rows specified.
I have a button which is outside the repeater and on click of this i need to validate all the textbox values and save them into dB accordingly.
Here is my code
Repeater.aspx

Right now the problem is im not able to fetch the values of the textboxes present in the newly generated rows.
I have created my first MVC application. I am using forms authenticataion. I have created a custom action filter MyAppAuthorizationFilter which inherits from AuthorizeFilter. Inside this filter I'm authenticating the user credentials by checking them against a database table (by overriding OnAuthorize method). If the user is not authenticated, I am redirecting the users to a login page (which is view of LoginController). I am using this filter agaginst my main controller so that all actions in this filter will execute only if the user is authenticated.
I do not have any problem when I use the asp.net development server (shipped with Visual Studio). But when I deploy the app to our IIS7 server, I can see the login screen when I access the default url, but after entering the credentials (both correct and incorrect) and posting back the Login page, it stays on the Login page (clears the pwd, but not the username). Its never getting redirected to the home screen or invalid login screen.
IIS 7 server has .net framework 3.5SP1, but no MVC. So I deployed the System.Web.Mvc dll in the bin folder.
Here's my Code (I've omitted the views and models as they are not needed here):
[MyAppAuthorizationFilter] public class MainController : Controller { // // GET: / [code]......
I am using the below code where I put this tag on a .aspx page:
"<a name="tips"></a>"
Now if I from another page run the code in the hyperlink to navigate to this page2 where I have the above tag. The page will scroll down to this tag automatically where this tag will be at the TOP of the screen.
My question now is if it is instead possible to scroll to the position where you have this tag at the BOTTOM of the screen instead ?
Is it possible to take a screen capture of a particular area of a web-page from the web-page's own ASP.NET code?
I need to display 6 images that are stacked on top of one another using CSS, and I'd like to offer the user the ability to right-click save-as if possible by stacking the screen capture on top top of the original image stack.
I've done this using bound controls like Repeaters etc but now I need to display information about a single file for example. SO i will pass the fileid in the querystring, then I need to populate some textboxes, autocomplete textboxes etc. and then save changes. what's the most efficient way of doing this?
I have a web page that I have a media control player on along with other controls in a table. It's a training video, so the controls are not visible. So the user can advance to the next web page,I thought I would have a button control inside an update panel with a time control so that the user had to watch the video and then the button control would appear after the video completed.I'm setting the button update panel to NOT visible and then turning it one when the time control elapses the same amount of time that the video runs.My problem is that when I set the visible property of the update panel to NOT visible it also makes the media player's panel NOT visible too. They are in two different panels. The medial player in a standard panel and the timer control connected witha separate panel that contains the button for the user to proceed. When I set the visible property to "true" the media player runs but the update panel with the button is visible also.
[Code]....
This is the code for the update panel and continue button that is in a separate table cell.I even split the table and so this is in a completely separate table but I still get the same behavior.
I know the back button always presents a problem, but this one doesn't make any sense.
I have a simple details view and a button on a page. The button sends the user to the homepage. I am trying to prevent the user from being able to use the detailsview if they click Back in their browser.
This is the button click event
[code]....
When the button is clicked...oddly the user is sent to the homepage then when they click the browser back button they are sent to previous page with the detailsview still visiible.
I know I am missing something, can someone fill me in?
I have a masterpage (which we will call 'default'). This contains a second page (web user control) -'second'. And finally a third 'print' page. The 'print' page is also a web user control, however, it merely has a placeholder that contains the 'second' page.Is there a way I can add a control to the 'second' page - such as a literal, and only have it visible on the 'print' page?
I have the following markup. The errorPanel was first only used to show server side exception messages, and works fine like that. Now I'd like to incorporate my validation summary into that same errorPanel.
[code]....
My problem now is that the required validation happens client side, and I want to keep that, so I have no server side opportunity to make errorPanel visible, in order to make the validation summary visible.
I see I have two options: Do validation server side, and use my code there to make the panel visible, or hook into the client side code somehow and catch an event there when the summary should be made visible, and then also make the errorPanel visible. How could I go about the latter?
I'm building a few webpages in my webapplication which use a webservice. While communicating with the webservice, which can take more than a few seconds, I want to display a loading screen. Something like the jquery dialog, where the background is disabled and a loading image appears in the middel of the webpage.
How would one create a website that would look the same at any resolution? I've heard of making so it will fit for a 800x600 screen but then that just screws everyone that has a higher screen resolution. I've heard about using widths that use percentages and using iframes and things like that.
What's the best way to have one website fits all resolutions?
