Web Forms :: Detailsview.visible/Back Button - Why Is The Detailsview Still Visible

I know the back button always presents a problem, but this one doesn't make any sense.
I have a simple details view and a button on a page. The button sends the user to the homepage. I am trying to prevent the user from being able to use the detailsview if they click Back in their browser.
This is the button click event

When the button is clicked...oddly the user is sent to the homepage then when they click the browser back button they are sent to previous page with the detailsview still visiible.
I know I am missing something, can someone fill me in?

I have a master/detail page using a gridview as the master, and a detailsview as the details. The gridview is set to select a record, and the detailsview picks up the ID and you can either edit that record, or add a new one.The detailsview is set up with various template fields, and if everything on the page is visible, it works OK.However, I wanted to hide the Gridview when the user in working with the detailsview. But if I do that, the detailsview doesn't update the record.

Is it possibile to have templateField from detailsView visible only in inserMode?

this doesnt work exception is:
Databinding expressions are only supported on objects that have a DataBinding event.
System.Web.UI.WebControls.TemplateField does not have a DataBinding event.

What to do to show DetailsView even when there is no data in underlying datasource?The problem is that when DetailsView is not visible, the command buttons are also not visible. So I can not insert a new record to a database. I would like to have always visible DetailsView with its DefaultMode set to ReadOnly.If it is not possible I would like to ask for an workaround for this problem.
One workaround which I have on my mind is to check if datasource have any records. If no then programmaticaly change DefaultMode to Insert. However this causes another problem - how to count the number of records in DataSource.All my problems are related to the ASP 3.5

I have one GridView called GV_IssTypeDesc and one DetailsView called DV_IssueLog.
The scenario is that i only want GV_IssTypeDesc gridview to appear when DetailsView DV_IssueLog is in edit mode. How do i accomplish this?

The "e.NewMode" is underlined blue in color and it is stated "NewMode is not a member of System.EvntArgs".

I have a problem that in DetailsView Edit Mode, if I go to edit fields, and set a fields visible property to false, when I update the record through the built in update options it sends a null value. If I change the field back to visible, it passes the data just fine.
Consequently, I tried just setting the field to Read Only = True, and got the same result even though the current values do show up in the edit mode, just read only.Is there anyway to hide the field but still allow it to pass the data it currently has "BACK" into the record.

I have a gridview that is bound to a SQL datasource and is filtered via FilterExpression,
the FilterExpressoin is using Contro Parameters in a for of textboxes.
I want a certain button to become visible (btnInsert.Visible=true) when the filterExpression returns no results.
what event should I use? what is the code for that?

I am basically trying to check the contents of a field in a data base (Course) to determine if a button (btnMisfills) shoulf be displayed for a specific user. I am sure ther are probably better way of doing this, and any suggestions would be appreciated. However I am using the few tools I know how. Everything works as expected as long as the DetailsView is visible, but I have no need to display the detailsView. When I change the detailsView to visible = false, my logic does not work. Apparently visible = false means the detailsview is not created. If this is true, how else can I check for the contents of the course field?s there a way to check a field in the sqldatasource?

I´m trying to link the gridview to detailsview and I used this page as my inspiration:

But I´m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.

I am trying to arrange the information from a SQL record into a 3 column by 3 row table to fit the form presentation that I want. I have placed on the page 3X3 table and then tried to place a detailsview in the first cell for the first picture called P1dv.
I have place a detailsview in the last cell that would control the paging of information called Controldv. I need to fiqure out how to link P1dv paging to Controldv page action. I am using visual web dev. 2005. I am not updating or editing these are read only views.

I have a web page that I have a media control player on along with other controls in a table.It's a training video, so the controls are not visible.So the user can advance to the next web page,I thought I would have a button control inside an update panel with a time control so that the user had to watch the video and then the button control would appear after the video completed.I'm setting the button update panel to NOT visible and then turning it one when the time control elapses the same amount of time that the video runs.My problem is that when I set the visible property of the update panel to NOT visible it also makes the media player's panel NOT visible too.They are in two different panels.The medial player in a standard panel and the timer control connected witha separate panel that contains the button for the user to proceed. When I set the visible property to "true" the media player runs but the update panel with the button is visible also.

This is the code for the update panel and continue button that is in a separate table cell.I even split the table and so this is in a completely separate table but I still get the same behavior.

I am learning asp.net using Visual web developer 2008 express.
I have an image control with the html code below

whenever I sort on a column it resets all my toggled columns back to visible. Is there a way to resort and keep the toggled columns that were selected as hidden to stay hidden?

I'm having some problems. I am trying to bind the visible attribute of a button, to a boolean in my code-behind, and it is not working as intended.
When i put a breakpoint on the boolean, i can see it is ONLY visited, when it is true. In the cases where it is false, it is never questioned, and it apparently defaults to true (dunno why).
In essence, i have a querystring called "dep". If it is not the same as the department the user is in (retrieved from AD), the boolean will return false.
So, i assume i am doing something wrong here. Here's my code.

I have a simple form that I am developing with a Radio Button Control with 2 list items. The other day everything looked fine, but today when I run the program and view the form, the circular buttons are missing, although the text of the list items can be seen. When I look in the design view, I can see both the buttons and the text.
