VS 2010 - Changing Treenode Backcolor Dynamically In Code

Apr 19, 2012

What I need to do is perform some kind of decision statement and when true I need to change the backcolor of a treenode to grey, so that it has a grey box around the whole text. There is no backcolor property for the tree node and I don't need it applied all the time so I don't think a CSS class will do this.

Changing A Control's BackColor To Match GridView Row BackColor

Feb 12, 2010

VWD 2008 Express. Visual Basic.

I have a gridview control that has a different background color for alternating rows (done using cssclasses). In the RowDataBound event code, I want to change the background color of a ListBox control in one of the cells to match the row color. I have tried the following (in blue), but it does not seem to work. The listbox control still remains with white background. How may I determine the background color of the row so that I may set the ListBox background to match?

[Code]....

A corollary question is, "How may I programmatically reference an item within a CssClass?" For instance the CssClass is named "datagrid." How do I programatically retrieve the value of "background-color" that is defined in this CssClass?

C# - Changing Forecolor According To Backcolor?

Apr 6, 2010

I have created an iframe which contains the label, "powered by MyWebsite.site" The "iframe itself" accepts arguments, so other webmasters may customize the appearance of it.

The problem is that since the background of the iframe could be customized, anyone can "vanish" the "powered by MyWebsite.site".

So what option do i have? How should i dynamically change the label color depending on any background?

txtCosts.BackColor = Drawing.Color.Red

How To Dynamically Assign A BackColor To A GridView Row

Nov 29, 2010

I'm working on an ASP.Net page containing a GridView, which is populated with customer orders returned by a stored procedure. What I'd like to do is dynamically change the backcolor of the GridView rows to indicate priority.

The stored procedure returns an integer indicating the records priority, I think I just need to translate the integer to a color, then make the GridView row display it.

The "making the GridView row display it" part is the one that's giving me a hard time.

What's the best way to do this?

VS 2010 / Get Dynamically Created User Controls In Code-behind?

Jan 31, 2012

I dynamically build up a table of dates/hours worked by a user.

Last row, for each date (column) contains a little user control where the user can enter some text.

The user control work with some jQuery/UI and I will end up with each control have a date and reason set in hidden controls.

How do I get hold of these controls only when the user click a button in the code-behind? (silly question I know, but I'm not used to how webforms does its' thing)

Web Forms :: Changing The Value Of An "Input" Field Dynamically From Code Behind File

Jan 16, 2011

I have this in my code-behind file (VB.NET):

[Code]....

Here is the HTML source of the part of the page:

[Code]....

Where that comment in the code-behind file says "REFERENCE IN CODE HERE", that is where I want to set the value of the "remLen3" input (client-side control) to "30 characters left."I obviously left out irrelevant things like inserting the txtNewComment.Text into the database. But what's going on here is when the user types in something into the txtNewComment text box, I'm using javascript to change the value of the remLen3 control. My problem is that when I submit the text from the txtNewComment textbox to the database and set the txtNewComment.Text equal to Nothing, I don't know how to reset the remLen3 field value back to saying "30 characters left.". I already tried to add a "runat="server"tag to it, but when typing stuff into my txtNewComment textbox it gives me an error. I already tried to figure out what the error meant, so I'm not going to spend time trying to solve it anymore; I would rather just see if there is a workaround to using the runat="server" tag. Maybe do some kind of a CType(FETCH_REM_LEM3_HERE_SOMEHOW, INPUT_TEXT_TYPE??).value = "30 characters left". If there is a way of converting the input text control (remLen3) that way, then how would that be done? I just want to change the value of that field when the server-side button is pushed.

VS 2010 Keeping Selected Treenode Selected?

Mar 9, 2011

I´m using a treenode´s selected node´s value to filter a an accessdatasource which populates a gridview. However when I press the "edit" button in the gridview, I guess the node is undselected because the gridview gets emptied. When I reselect the node, the gridview displays the filtered records, and the one being edited is in edited mode.So I´d like to keep the node selected. Not only because of the above, but also so the user can see what he is editing.Fuga.edit: When I remove the filtering from the accessdatasource init event, the gridview diplays all records, but the worng one is being edited. I guess it´s the one with the same index as the filtered record. So, visual studio gets the index and then reloads the data and applies the index on the reloaded data!?

VS 2010 - Changing Menu With Masterpage

Sep 3, 2011

When I began my first ASP.NET project, I didn't know about Masterpages, which was a pain. Because I had to manually change each and every link on all of my web pages. This was all mainly for the top menu and side menus.

But now that I'm using a master page, I think it's going to be much easier. But, I'm running into an issue.

When the user loads default.aspx, they see the following on the top menu.

Which is how I want it. But, what if they click one of the links? Before, I just updated that code to make the button of that page the active one. But, if they're all inheriting the same page, how do I commit this changes? I don't want to omit that part and manually change it on each page, because that would beat the entire purpose of doing this.

I also don't want to create another master page for each link. That would also beat the purpose.

VS 2010 Changing From DataAdapters/DataSets To DataSources

Nov 13, 2010

How do you control database server access when you use datasources in VB 2010?How do you access multiple tables from a store procedure using datasources?

Explanation:My experience is with VB.NET for the most part. I've written a lot of apps drawing data through dataadapters into datasets and processing them to provide reports in aspx.

I'm starting to work in VB 2010 and those elements are no longer available. What appears to be the weapon of choice is the datasource. What I'm not seeing: 2 important things that I can't work without:

1. Control over when the database server is hit with a connection request; daMyQuery.Fill (MyDataSet) was an explicit command that I could use to collect my data on demand. From that point on, I could use the dataset as I wished to populate whatever controls or structures I wished - the database server was no longer needed and wasn't hit by my apps until another pageload.

2. Multiple Tables in a query result; This must be there, I just can't find the method by which to reference different tables in my SQL output. Previous, I would have a dataadapter which would use a stored procedure to deliver a dataset of multiple - sometimes many - tables for use in the application. I can't find the equivalent on a datasource.

So my two big-ticket needs - requests for assistance, really - are listed above: How do you get at multiple tables returned from a stored procedure;and; How do you keep datasources for hitting the dbserver whenever you use it if there is no equivalent to a 'fill' method?

I guess another - how would you walk through the rows of a dataset?

VS 2010 - Error Changing Framework Of Windows Service

Nov 17, 2011

I have a deadline to install my windows service NOW. I developed it in VS2010 and chose the .NET 4.0 framework. The server where I am installing it, which is a server that hosts our live web sites, does not have .NET 4.0 installed. So I have to change the framework to 3.5. 5.C:DevprojectsDocFtpToVendorDocumentFtpProjectInstaller.resx1225DocumentFtpIt is in ProjectInstaller.resx and also Service1.resx. Is it because the version=4.0.0.0, and if so how do I change that? And if not, what is the cause?

Changing SessionID Dynamically In C#?

Jan 29, 2010

if there is a way to dynamically change the session ID from the context of a SessionStateStoreProvider (or some other customizable module) in C# for ASP.NET.

I am implementing a custom SessionStateStoreProvider, and I was thinking about augmenting the session ID to tell the store provider where to go look for a session. I've implemented a custom SessionIDManager, which lets me augment newly created session IDs with the required tag. The problem is that the desired value of that tag might change during the life of a session. For example, the session may be read from one location, but may need to written to a different location. In this instance the ID would have originally been tagged for location A, but on writing the store would want to write to location B. The tag should be updated to reflect location B for the next session read.

So, from the context of SessionStateProviderBase override...

public override void SetAndReleaseItemExclusive(HttpContext context,
string id, SessionStateStoreData item, object lockId, bool newItem)

... is it possible to change the session ID? I know that the HttpContext.Session.SessionID property is not settable. Is there some other way to feedback an update like this? Or is there a more appropriate to carry state like this across calls?

VS 2010 - LinkButton CommandArguments Changing In Gridview Bound To Datasource

Jun 23, 2011

I have a Gridview that displays some data I am pulling from a SQL Server database. The stored procedure that runs the query accepts a table valued parameter. I am unable to find a way to pass this structure to an asp:SQLDatasource so I have been manually creating the datatable and then binding my Gridview to it. The DataType I am using in the code-behind to pass into the stored procedure is a System.Data.SqlDbType.Structured type.

Each Gridview row has an asp:LinkButton with a CommandArgument value that looks like

<%# Eval("PartNumber").ToString() + "|" + Eval("ID").ToString() %>

Each LinkButton calls back to a function in my code behind that accepts the CommandArgs, does some work, and redirects the user to another page.

Since I am manually binding the Gridview to the Datasource when the number of records exceeds my paging size and the user changes pages or sorts the Gridview, the CommandArgument value changes to the wrong row and I get bad data back from the CommandArgument. how to pass a System.Data.SqlDbType.Structured type into an asp:SQLDataSource but if that is not possible how I can work around this?
