But that way on tab event mu cursor is not moving to next control rather it first removes space from text box and then moves to next control. I need to fix this ASAP, Can any one help me out with this.

Web Forms :: How To Use FileInfo With FileUpload

May 4, 2010

I have a detailsview which uploads 4 files and uses the objectcontainerdatasource. However, what I would like to do is once I got my files from the fileupload object is to cast it to FileInfo type.At the moment I can get hold of the files via detailsview but this is where I need help; as I have four files to upload, I want to save them to either an array, collection or list of type FileUpload or FileInfo (preferably FileInfo) along with two other properties and then to pass these values to a method that saves these files to a temporary location. This brings me to my next problem. In the method that saves the files to a temporay location, whilst I can do this with FileUpload, I want to return from this method the new file path location as a FileInfo type in order to use this in another method.

FileInfo And Deleting - Won't Release The Lock

Apr 27, 2010

i have a method that creates a thumbnail image from a fileinfo object thats an image.

so basically my method takes a FileInfo as a paramter, creates a nwe image, saves it and actually returns the FileInfo (no idea why - it doesn't really need to)

I want to delete the Fileinfo object (aka the file in the temp storage directory) after the image has been created but when i try to run fi.Delete() i get an error saying it can't because its being used by another process.

whats the solution to this? is it possible to delete this file in the same thread or am i going to have to create a service that runs on a schedule and cleans this folder.

What about creating a new fileinfo pointing to the current fileinfo and deleteing that?

VS 2010 - Access Local File System

Apr 26, 2012

I have an ASP.NET page that I need to have access the local file system. It's an intranet. I need to download a zip file and an executable to a temp location and then run the executable.

Then afterwards, I need to delete the contents via an ASP.NET page.

Is there any way to access the local file system? Generally, I would think this would cause a security concern, but I've seen posts about Silverlight being able to access it.

Someone just got me looking at resource files, but I need to have this message without having any code in code behind of these pages.

Configuration :: System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient Credentials Don't Work With Exchange 2010

I run a Exchange 2010 server and created an account for one of my websites to send e-mails.

The webserver's IP is even listed on the [Organization Configuration] -> [Hub Transport] -> [Global Settings] -> [Transport Settings] -> [Message Delivery] list.

The code sets a set of Network Credentials, but setting incorrect or correct settings, it doesn't matter; if I list external e-mail addresses, I get a "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <address>" message, 'local' addresses that are cc-ed, do get delivered...

When checking with telnet, I noticed that the only AUTH option was AUTH NTLM, but when checking the NetworkCredentails, it stated that NTLM should would.

C# - Why Does Copying A File Using FileInfo.CopyTo Creates The Destination Copied File As Readonly

Jun 11, 2010

I have two folders in my asp.net web application in which I create new folders programmaticaly. The entire solution is under VSS source control. I was not able to manipulate these two folders programmably. For that, I gave {MACHINE}ASPNET user account full control over these two folders. Still, the "access denied to the path" error was coming. I saw that these entire folders were marked readonly. I tried to uncheck Readonly from explorer but not successfull, readonly check does not get removed. Also, if I copy files using method, the destinationn copied file becomes readonly. I have also tried File.SetAttributes (path,FileAttributes.Normal); but no success. How can I make the copied file not READONLY?

MVC :: "Path" To Linked File - FileInfo.Exists Always False?

Nov 30, 2010

i set up Log4Net in a project, with the Log4Net.config file in "App_Data/config/Log4Net.config", and called the XmlConfigurator.Configure function with the following:

[Code]....

However, I the config file to be available in multiple projects, so moved it out to a solution folder (config/Log4Net.config).

Back in my MVC project, I added the config file as a linked file (and also set it to a "embedded" resource and "copy always" for the heck of it)

However I got no idea how the previous "var configfile = new FileInfo("????")" should read.

Tried it with and without Server.MapPath, using "Log4Net.config", "/Log4Net.config", "~/Log4Net.config", etc. No luck.

My guess it's because this Log4Net.config is not an actual file, but just linked.

Publishing Via "File System" In Visual Studio 2010 - Doesn't Work?

Jun 2, 2010

this is an extremely frustrating situation. We have just upgraded to Visual Studio 2010, and very nice it is, except for when it won't do something really simple, like Publish your ASP.NET Web Application to a folder on your desktop. For some unearthly reason, what used to work flawlessly in 2008 is now generating an error: It stops Publishing, after successfully Building, saying:Error: Copying file ImagesProfile32_32.JPG to objx64ReleasePackagePackageTmpImagesProlfile32_32.JPG failed. Could not find file 'ImagesCelebrityProfileImages32_32.JPG'.The problem is that there isn't any reference to that file in the project code (in the database, yes, but not in the code itself), and we don't want to store such images with the project (and they're not). Why (and how) has it suddenly decided that this unreferenced image (and presumably more if I get it to move past this one) is suddenly necessary to run the project? How can I stop this from happening?

Need The System To Be Able To Let The User Choose The Time Of Email?

Feb 25, 2010

I'm only a novice asp.net developer and have never done this before. I have a developer working on a new web application for me. Part of the application allows the user to select a time when they receive an email, containing information collected throughout the day. The user can select a time, e.g. 5pm, then at 5pm every day they receive an automated email of information from the system. They can log in to their control panel and change this time.My developer says there is only two ways to schedule this batch, but it's not possible to let the user select a time. They have suggested:

a) Using a console application that will trigger the event everyday and send the batch update
b) Using a Windows Service that will deploy on your server and do the operation.

I really need the system to be able to let the user choose the time of their email. I hoped this would be possible with ASP.NET. Is it? If so, how?
