I have a gridview with a checkbox in each row for selecting. I want to have a button which will select all/deselect all and not post back.
I first implemented this with a link and it works perfectly, but I don't like how it looks.
Code:
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:sel();">Select/deselect all</a>
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
isSelected = false;
function sel() {
var frm = document.forms[0];
isSelected = !isSelected;
[Code] ....
So now I have a button that I want to rig up to execute this javascript. Which I believe would be done this way:
Code:
<asp:Button ID="btnSelectAllSummary" runat="server" Text="Select All" OnClientClick="javascript:sel()" />
But it is posting back. How do I prevent the postback and have it execute on the client?

I have a checkbox, textbox and requiredfieldvalidator inside the updatepanel. Once user checks selects
checkbox I am enabling requiredfieldvalidator.
I have one more textbox, requiredfieldvalidator, validationgroup and Linkbutton outside updatepanel.
Strange thing is Checkbox checked event not firing in some cases,
1. Check the checkbox (which enables requiredfieldvalidator)
2. Click the Linkbutton (fires two validators)
3. Uncheck the checkbox (which should disable requiredfieldvalidator)
4. Click the linkbutton again (again it fires two validator, which should fire only one validator)
Note: The problem only arising when I add javascript block to linkbutton in page load event.

I am dynamically binding a typed list to a GridView control.
The Grid View Control is in an asp.net page that is wrapped in an asp:UpdatePanel (Ajax).
The first column contains a checkbox control.
Only one checkbox may be checked in this column.
If the user checks a checkbox, all other checkbox must be unchecked.
I am trying to achieve this using client-side script without success.
In the handler for the GridView's RowDatabound event, have attempted to add an attribute to the CheckBox contained within the cell.

I'm trying to do a number of large queries in the same routine, and have a label in an updatepanel update after each one. I must be doing something wrong, however, because whenever I fire up the routine, my label won't update until the last query is done. Isn't it possible to do UpdatePanel.Update multiple times in the same routine/event? This is the code I'm using:
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
lblStatus.Text = "Busy with task 1"
UpdatePanel1.Update()
LongTask()
lblStatus.Text = "Busy doing task 2!"
UpdatePanel1.Update()
LongTask()
lblStatus.Text = "Done!"
UpdatePanel1.Update()
End Sub
Private Sub LongTask()
conn = New SqlConnection(connstring)
conn.Open()
cmd = New SqlCommand("Select * from very_large_table", conn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
reader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
End Sub
When the form loads, the lblStatus is emtpy. When I click the button, I see the page loading until it displays 'Done!'. I don't see the other texts. This is the page source:
<%@ Page Language="VB"
MasterPageFile="~/MyApp.master"
AutoEventWireup="false"
CodeFile="test_page.aspx.vb"
EnableEventValidation="false"
Inherits="test_page"
title="MyApp"
Theme="DefaultTheme"
%>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblStatus" runat="server"></asp:Label>
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Update!" onclick="Button1_Click" />
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
</asp:Content>
The page has a masterpage that contains the neccesary Scriptmanager.

I am creating an array of checkboxes :
1. chkresponse = new System.Web.UI.WebControls.CheckBox[cnumber + 1];
for (int
i = 0; i < cnumber + 1; i++){
chkresponse[i] = new System.Web.UI.WebControls.CheckBox();
chkresponse[i].CheckedChanged +=
new EventHandler(chkresponse_CheckedChanged);
chkresponse[i].AutoPostBack =true;
}
2. thereafter adding them to a panel
Panel1.Controls.Add(chkresponse[n]);
3. then added the checkedchanged event:
public
void chkresponse_CheckedChanged(Object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{Label1.Text = "response";}
but the event is never fired. the panel is insdie an updatepanel.

I have a page that has a updatepanel around a gridview control that is within my modalpopup. So you land on the page, there is a link that when clicked will open the model popup. Initially the gridview merely displayed saved records you personally choseto save, well when you selected one, the popup would close and the data from that row would be passed to the gridview within the page to display details.. no issue when it was setup that way.. well eventually it was decided to add a delete option within themodal popup gridview so now when viewing the records you can delete it if not needed. works well.. but now with the updatepanel surrounding the gridview when i click on my "select" link it doesnt execute my

I have a textbox and an updatepanel. As I type, I want to be able to update the updatepanel. Right now, all I have is when the textbox loses focus, it updates. What is the .NET 4.0 method for doing this? Clarification: this is not autocomplete on a textbox.

Question for Print functionality in ASP.Net GridView control artical. I tried you code in my project, when click print current page, nothing happens.
So I download your code into my test web project "WebSite1", greate, it works.
Then in your CS.aspx page,
I added (which is the case of my project of using AJAX).
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate>
<div> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server"
.......................... gridview stuff gose here .........................
</div> etc etc to close all the tags.
Now run, click print button nothing happens, no any error.
Can you see why put updatePanle for AJAX causing problem ?
I also have to pur EnableEventValidation="false" at top of the page to avoid

I upgraded from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and now the AJAX elements are not recognised by the source code editor, e.g. UpdatePanel, ScriptManager, etc. I get warnings in VS and no intellisense for those elements. When I run the site, all the AJAX controls work OK though.

in a GridView (ASP.NET/C#), I have a number of template fields - the 2 ones relevant to the question are 'checkbox1' and 'quantity'. The checkbox starts off as unticked for every row, and the quantity starts off as disabled for every row. But when the user ticks one of the rows checkboxes, I need a piece of JavaScript or something to check if the relevant rows checkbox is checked, and if so enable to the rows quantity textbox.

I have a GridView that is populated via a dataset that contain 1 table. I have enabled paging on my GridView.
In my Updating event, I handle the new values and call a store proc to update my database with the new values for the selected row. In order to minimize the call to the DB, instead of getting back a new dataset with the updated values, I simply update the row of the dataset that I have in session with the new values and then I bind back my gridview.
The problem that I have is since I have let's say 5 pages of 10 row... If I update a row on the first page as soon as I click update, the gridview will show the new values. However, if I select page 3 for example, click on update and update the values, once the update is done, the gridview will still be displayed with the old values.

1) For some reason the MainDivision column in this is displaying bold and centered (the rest are left and not bold). Anybody see something that creeped into this markup that might be causing this?
HTML Code:
[code]....
2) How can I add a non-databound checkbox to a gridview? It only seems to appear if I bind it to something, but I want it so the user can check which rows he wants to perform an action against, so it has no value other than UI interaction.
