Visual Studio :: VSTS Webcast - How To Find The "Location" For Live Meeting Dialog
May 18, 2010
MS webcast event "Quality Assurance in Visual Studio Team System 2010" * # 1032443491 happens Eastern DST 14:30 today.
The registration e-mail gives a confirmation number but does not specify the "Location" server value for the "Microsoft Office Live Meeting" "Join a scheduled meeting ..." dialog. How do I connect to this meeting?[URL]

I am creating a web site in visual studio 2008.
I want to allow the current user to log in but log off any other person logged in under the same username as the current user. (just like like Y!M does when you log in from a different location: It signs you out from the initial location) For managing log in and sign up i am using visual studio createuserwizard and log in cotrol.

Currently this is the location of my WebDev.WebServer.exe -> C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMicrosoft SharedDevServer9.0WebDev.WebServer.exe
I want to change it to -> C:Program Files x86Common FilesMicrosoft SharedDevServer9.0WebDev.WebServer.exe
Notice that the new location has no parentheses (because this might be the cause of an oracle connection problem I'm having (using Oracle.DataAccess))
I'm guessing simply moving it to the new destination will cause some problems, so what will I need to do to the Visual Studio 2008 configuration?

So I would like my solution to save in the same folder as the rest of my files. I am a win forms developer so web is new to me.
1) Is there any reason why I shouldn't do that for web.
2) Second how do I do that. I know that I can change the solution's saving location by changing ToolsOptionProjects & SolutionsProject's Location. However, I just want it to use the location of the new website I create and not that specification.

I have had a persistant problem, which occurs in "Visual Web Developer 2008" express, but also in "Visual Studio 2010"
When I drop a data control onto my webpage, and the select "Configure Data Source", the dialog box opens, but when I try and browse for the data file (could be MDB or XLS) the data file does not appear in the "Select (XML/MDB) file" - in the example below a XML file. If I set the filter to "All Files (*.*)" I can see all of the files EXCEPT the XML files.
The project is a web project, and is set to HTTP - using my local IIS.

In the "Regular Expression Editor" dialog in VS 2008 ( or 2005 for this matter ) ,
there is a list of "standard expressions" like :
"French phone number" , "French postal code" etc..
And of course there is an option to select a "Custom" and then enter your own regular expression.
Well.. I want to add a predefined expressions to that list . Like : "Israeli phone number" .
I don't want to enter it every time by selecting a custom value .
I want my developers in the team available items for them to choose.
Anyone knows how to alter that list ?
I've found some question about it on the web - and the answer given is that it's not possible .

I am using the ASP Web Application template from Visual Studio for my website. I created an images folder in the directory directly, and not in visual studio. I cannot get visual studio to show this directory. How do you add directories in visual studio or get it to recognize it. I know most of you are thinking of responding with "Why don't you just create the image directory through visual studio".

Using VS2008, been working fine until recently when the build errors, which usually allow you to right click and navigate direct to the error in question, have this "Go To Location" feature disabled.
Go To Definition still works from within the main editor but this build error thing is really annoying. If I get something saying "semi-colon missing" I have to go back and review all the code I've just written to spot the missing semi colon. How do I re-enable this feature (even though I don't remember disabling it).

When adding a new web reference, one of the options that visual studio gives you is to search for web services on the local machine (The exact option name is "Web services on the local machine").
My question is, how does Visual Studio find the web services on the local machine? The local website that contains the service doesn't contain a .disco file.
I tried to use fiddler but got nothing (visual studio didn't make any requests to the local web server). Does visual studio scan the default website for files with the extension .asmx?
