Web Forms :: UserControl With DateTime Property - Set Markup In Local Datetime Format

Jan 21, 2010

I created a UserControl and added a public DateTime property. I want to set this property in Markup (ie. <cc1:MyControl runat="server" id="MyControl1" DateTimeProp="1/1/2010" /> ) however I live in a place with a dd/mm/yyyy date format so it complains if I set something like "20/1/2010". Is there a way to set markup in my local datetime format or do I have to conform to "mm/dd/yyyy"?

ADO.NET :: EF 4 And Default Value For DateTime?

Feb 18, 2011

In my Domain Model I have a { Created_at } attribute. I want this to have a default value of the current DateTime. Now I can do this if I was working in SQL Server 2008, but I am using Entity Framework 4 here and the SQL Server 2008 method (of adding GETUTCDATE()in the Default property) does not work.Can someone please explain how I would get my EF 4 to add the current DateTime to all the { Created_at } fields of my Domain Model?I hate having to manually type the DateTime for each Object/Row of the Database.

DataAnnotations On A DateTime Property?

Jul 15, 2010

I have a DateTime property in my model and I would like to validate it using DataAnnotations.In my view I want to get that DateTime as a number of days (e.g. "3"), instead of a DateTime (e.g. "7/14/2010"). If user enters "3" in the view, then DataAnnotation finds it invalid -and that is the issue.What are my options in this scenario?

WCF / ASMX :: How To Execute WebService Asmx Link From Default.aspx Page Link Using HTTPRequest And HTTPResponse

Nov 3, 2010

I have spent a couple of days on this one. I have an ASP.NET website that has Linkbuttons on

the Default.aspx page.. I added a WebService to the Website because later on the WebService will

subscribe to a Provider(Feed) of News, Sports and Weather and things like that. So when a Linkbutton

on the Default.aspx page is clicked it will connect to the link in the WebService which will load the News,

Sports or Weather onto the Default.aspx web page.

The problem is I can't get the LinkButton to execute the Link in the WebService. The link will call the page up

to where you see all of the Web References. But then if you want to execute one of those references you

have to click its link and the Invoke button that will follow. My questioh is how can the link on my Default.aspx

page execute the link in the WebService. Now I changed the LinkButton into an <a href> but I still can't execute

the link in the WebServices. I always use www.Microsoft.com as the link when testing and I wasn't sure about the return type

so I put "void" for an HTTPRequest, so below is the link from the Default.aspx web page and below that is he asmx file:

Class Property Not Returning Right Datetime Format?

Feb 21, 2011

Why doesn´t this property return a datetime formated with the following pattern when using the property in the codebehind page in my ASP.NET Webforms website? When debugging i can see that the value the returning datetime is "2011-02-21 16:13:29.670" wich is correct.

[code]....

And after assigning the returned property value to a hiddenfield in the .aspx page i get this value assign to the hiddenfield.value "2011-02-21 16:13:29"

hdnUserLastUpdated.Value = objUser.UserLastUpdated

MVC :: Unable To Get DataAnnotations Client Validation And Nullable DateTime Property

May 12, 2010

I am having a problem with the Client Validation not firing when I have marked a nullable DateTime field as [Required] and the value of the field is null. (It is actually stopping ALL client validation on the page working - not just the DateTime field).

Interestingly enough, once a post back has been done and the error picked up on the server, the client validation starts working.

Also if you set the date to a none null value (see commented out line in the controller) it will also work

I have replicated this behaviour in a small test project (this is deliberately very Noddy - just enough to replicate the problem)

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong or am I looking at coding some sort of work around here? (I realise that a Required nullable field sounds like a bit of a oxymoron, but I wanted to present the user with a blank field which they must then fill, not one pre-populated with an arbitrary date value)

Is there a way to set this property to null without this workaround? Is this a bug in DataSource or is this a feature by design?

How To Add A Default Value To A Custom Profile Property

Jun 16, 2010

I know you can add defaultValues using the web.config like this:

<profile>
<properties>
<add name="AreCool" type="System.Boolean" defaultValue="False" />
</properties>
</profile>

but I have the Profile inherited from a class:

<profile inherits="CustomProfile" defaultProvider="CustomProfileProvider" enabled="true">
<providers>
<clear />
<add name="CustomProfileProvider" type="CustomProfileProvider" />
</providers>
</profile>

Heres the class:

Public Class CustomProfile
Inherits ProfileBase
Public Property AreCool() As Boolean
Get
Return Me.GetPropertyValue("AreCool")
End Get
Set(ByVal value As Boolean)
Me.SetPropertyValue("AreCool", value)
End Set
End Property
End Class

I don't know how to set the default value of the property. Its causing errors because without a default value, it uses an empty string, which cannot be converted to a Boolean. I tried adding <DefaultSettingValue("False")> _ but that didn't seem to make a difference.

I'm also using a custom ProfileProvider (CustomProfileProvider).

MVC 2 - Add A Default Property To A Strongly Typed Html.Textbox Helper

Apr 22, 2010

The strongly typed helpers are now written like this -

<%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.State) %>

I need to add a default value to a textbox. In the prior version of Asp.Net MVC it was easy to assign a default value. I thought doing the following would work in MVC 2-

<%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.CountyId, new{ value = 840 })%>

This, however, does not work for me in Asp.Net MVC 2. The value is still blank for the textbox. I want to make sure that this isn't some random error that I am having. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? I have searched and searched to find more information on the default property for the html helpers in MVC 2, but I can't find anything. Does anyone out there know how to correctly assign a default value to a textbox in Asp.Net MVC 2?
