I want to understand the concept of relative paths as I have been tired of trying out my luck with adding JS files in the master pages and making them to work consistently.The scenario I have studied is as follows.1. Master page is present in subfolder under root, script file is present under a separate subfolder under root.

I am developinga site whichI want to contacin 2 'sub sites' - one for business clients and one for Home clients.
I therefore want to base each 'sub site' on a slightly different master page.
I have a base master calleed master1.master:

I then created a home.master using master1.master as its master:

BUT... on the web page all the contentplace holders are flagged as in error eg 'Could not fine "head" in the current master page or pages' where head is replaced by each placeholderIf I change the MasterPageFile= to point at master1.master the errors go away - but of course I dont have the differences in the page (at the moment just the menu)
I have tried the suggestions in http://forums.asp.net/t/1218788.aspx/2/10 but although the errors go away, the images in the Master1 left column don't get displayed and some of the css seems to disappear
I created a .master page having images,.css file. If i created I .aspx page then it displays normally (with master pages content) but if I create .aspx page inside some folder then design is not applying to the sub pages (Only for pages which are inside the folders)
View 7 RepliesI am having menus on the left side of the master page.I am also having the html pages related to the menu link. Based on the menu selection i would like to show the corresponding html pages as a content to the right side of the master page.
The html pages shoud need to be shown just like the other webforms are shown on the right side of the master page pased on the menu selection.
I am adding text fields to a page from the database. I set the .ID to match the record ID from the database. Of course becasue the text field is on the masterpage, when I grab the .ClientID, it is ctl00 contentMain$ctl00. what I don't get is where is my ID? If I set it to say AB how do I find the textbox by AB? I thought it should have AB in the ID somewhere. ID is nothing which I don't get either. I'm looping through the controls in a placeholder like this

Again though what is in the row() is say AB but the id is way off from that.
this is probably something really simple but I cant see what! Any images I have in a masterpage aint showing in child pages, all i get is the box with the red cross in it. Dont think Ive done anything different from usual and its not something thats happened in other sites so im kinda scratchin my head with it.

View 2 Repliesi'm developing a site using VS2010 and with my windows vista busniness OS. i used the default VS2010 wizard for new web application to create it. included a folder in the root directory and created new aspx pages to derive from the master page in the root directory of my site. everything shows on the new pages except the jpeg image logo in the master page. But other aspx pages i created in the root directory shows every thing fine.

Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?

I thought I could use a ContentPlaceHolder above the Render portion, but there seems to be some odd behavior where it sometimes adds 3 files (1 in the view page and 2 in the master page) but other times will ignore the file added from the View Page.

My current solution is a Static wrapper around SquishIt's static Bundle class that keeps the BundleBuilder in HttpContext.Current.Items.

I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?

The login page is formatted correctly, its just the page that is held in the secure folder. Both the header and footer images are either not appearing or are formatted incorrectly.

View 4 RepliesI read that with IIS 7, ASP.NET has become an intrinsic part of IIS instead of an external ISAPI DLL. They say that the main reason for this change is that it's now possible to secure files that previously have not been handled by ASP.NET.
I want to check this out, so I have created a Forms authentication web site and added the following files to it:
Default.aspxLogin.aspxHtmlPage.html
Moreover, I have set the web.config to deny anonymous users and I have enabled Forms authentication in IIS.
Here's my problem:
While the ASPX page perfectly requires me to log in, the HTML page does not. It just yields error 401.2.
So my question is:
What did I do wrong? What is necessary to have HTML files (or images) secured using Forms authentication?
I am currently attempting to build an Organisation chart image map based on the data in our SQL Database. I am doing this at runtime in an ASP.NET C# web application.
I have been asked to investigate the possibility of adding personal images from our SQL DB into the chart and I am completely lost... As I am creating an image already, how would I add an existing image (which is stored in the database) into the new one?

i have started to do a Asp.net Website Project...Am given few Images , to place it according to the requirement Web Page Sample image given by the client....Am just wondering how to calculatethe exact dimensions of the various parts of a page for Placing Images Perfectly.
Am using Html Divs , Css and a tool called WebPage Maker..Using WebPageMaker Tool i can place images and by running on a browser ,i can calculate the dimensions of that particular part[ For Ex:Header Image] by using FireBug Tool.....
But when using those dimensions[Left,top,Width& Height], at asp.net page by using Divs & CSS...Total page gets collapsed and images just run away.........
Whats the best Approach to do this..??
As of now,am given Few images[Cut], and the original required Image..On seeing that , i should place images accordingly...
But Am not able to calculate dimensions for using at Html Divs and CSS in a ASp.net Page..
I have 7 .aspx pages in my application. I have one masterpage so all pages have the same outlook. For 3 pages I want a treeview or some other control to display that I dont want in other Pages and I dont want to drag & drop that control in those 3 pages. How can i do that?
