Web Forms :: Create A Hit Counter For All Pages On A MasterPage?
Dec 4, 2010
I'd like to track how many visitors I get in each page on my website (entirely coded with .aspx pages). I'm not very familiar with ASP.NET, but I'm sure that it has an easier way to count each page's hits than putting code on each one of my .aspx pages. I assume that this "way" is using the MasterPage I already use. Am I wrong or correct?I'm using Visual Studio 2010. How shall I proceede?Just to put things clear: I'm using VB on my code and I'd like to store the information (number of visits) internally on server, not using a third party site.*cross posted here:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsreportcontrols/thread/b1a8ec3d-3881-4da5-9e64-002601b72e68?prof=required

I want to data bind jQuery Counter just like we do to Ajax Counter. Also I would like to know that do we have events for jQuery counter just like we have a tick event in Ajax Counter?
This should be pretty simple but I don't work on my website code too often so I thought I would ask about this. I have a download link for an application of mine on my website and I wanted to keep track of how many downloads are taking place so I want to create a counter. I added a table to the SQL database I already have on my website with the columns Downloads and CountID which is listed in the column properties as identity specification. At first I just had the column Downloads but when doing a query I was having problems so I added CountID and that made the query easy to do.
When the link on the download page on my website is clicked I wanted Downloads to increment by 1 each time. I used Visual Web Developer to build my site. Should I use a Web Method to increment that or is there a more direct method. I also noticed when I'm working in Visual Web Developer and I have the designer open for a webpage that in the toolbox items you have table and the icon looks the same as a table for an SQL Database. Should I perhaps use that? Add a table to this webpage and work with that?
Can anyone point me to where i can find a documentation about css, masterpage and derived pages in VS2008. I used them in VS2005 but it looks like it's almost impossible on VS2008. or it's just me.
Probably a simple fix to this I am not sure. Basically, I have a MasterPage that contains a Dropdownlist. This DDL controls what is displayed in ContentPlaceHolder. However, when postbacks are caused within the Contact Pages the DDL is resetting itself. How can I keep the selected value for the DDL between postbacks?
In my masterpage, I have a menu that hosts an anchor. That anchor points to a another page and looks like this:
ASP.NET Code: <a href="../resources/techs/masterlist.aspx">BOMs & Service Manuals</a>
I used the designer to input the href location. This page and the "masterlist" page are using the same masterpage.
When I run default.aspx and click that link, it works no problem. But when I click that link from the masterlist page, it throws an exception because it can't find the file. Which makes sense, it's looking for "/resources/resources/techs/masterlist.aspx" because that page is already within that directory. I know how to format that link you point to itself no problem, but I can't figure out how to do it so that I don't have to manually change each page, nulling the purpose of the masterpage.
Is it possible with ASP.NET Master Pages to create content pages dynamically? That is, I know we can create content dynamically, but the content pages themselves, can those be created programmatically? I want to give my users the ability to define new content pages (i.e. Categories: Sofas, Tables, Lamps, and add/delete as they see fit) through a management panel. The resulting content pages should have proper URL naming, so that they index properly. An example: http://www.example.com/products/Lamps/contentpage.aspx.Is there a demonstration of this somewhere I can view?
for a specific reason, which would take too much time to explain here , i do want to have a postbackurl dynamically set in my masterpage.master-file when clicking a button. here is the sample code:
I'm about to create a masterpage that contains a search field, the result from the search should be placed inside a contentplaceholder, but how do I build that? I added the search form to the masterpage (not inside a contentplaceholder), and then I added the eventhandler for the button that trigger the search. Now lest say I want to display the result in the contentplaceholder, how would I do that?
how are you able to create a admin and member folder and seperate the links from the masterpage .The login and register is not done using the asp.conf is done using a customer table
How to create create variables/properties in master page, and let sub-pages access them? So my master will have a string property HomeUrl How can any page that uses the master page access this property?
Simple question, ok a contentplaceholder is implemented for Page-specific content. What about header region, advertisment, recommended books, footer etc1- What do you insert this as? 2- how do you adjust the size the way you want it?
I have a MasterPage (MasterPage.master) with 2 child MasterPages (specialMaster.master and standardMaster.master). From the MasterPage.master I need to get at some of the controls in one of the children, specialMaster.master, say for example to hide certain content if a session variable is not null.
I have 2 masterpages. (Default.master and User.master).I have a hidden field in Default.master then how can i get the hidden field value of Default.master file from User.master.is there any way to access that hidden field like: Request.form("hidID") ?
I want to show some panel with a label, both located on a MasterPage, from inside it's child pages.. I already did the coding on the MasterPage:
public class MyMaster : MasterPage { public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { labelInside.Text = pMessage; myPanel.visible = true; [code]...
This "works" ok, but it won't show nothing, since I need the page to be "refreshed" in an "ajax-way" like an UpdatePanel, which I can't use because the Trigger is in another page, right?I really need this to work.. even if you have another completely different way to do this,
