VS 2010 - Linking To Nested ASPX Pages From MasterPage

In my masterpage, I have a menu that hosts an anchor. That anchor points to a another page and looks like this:

I used the designer to input the href location. This page and the "masterlist" page are using the same masterpage.
When I run default.aspx and click that link, it works no problem. But when I click that link from the masterlist page, it throws an exception because it can't find the file. Which makes sense, it's looking for "/resources/resources/techs/masterlist.aspx" because that page is already within that directory. I know how to format that link you point to itself no problem, but I can't figure out how to do it so that I don't have to manually change each page, nulling the purpose of the masterpage.

I'm changing the CSS of my menu items during runtime to reflect which page is currently being viewed. It works fine. But, I have a nested master page that needs to change the CSS of the master page's items. How I can access the master page's menu items?

My application has a Parent master page, a child master page and an aspx page( inheriting the child master page)
> Parent master page has two content placeholders ( A and B)

I'm used to working with VS 2008 and toggling bookmarks in aspx pages was very useful, however in VS 2010 I'm unable to toggle bookmarks using the CTRL + K + K or the actual "Toggle bookmark" button from the bookmarks tool. Is there an option to enable this on the ASPX page, it works everywhere else though.

I'm using a hosting service and I tried putting the default pages (that you get when you make a new website in web developer) onto the hosting service. But they only show up "normally" when I change the extension to html. if it's .aspx it just shows the code.
Question is how can I view the aspx file in the browser from the website normally without using "View in Browser" in that popup menu in Visual Studio Web Developer? And side note I can't use IIS (don't know if that's important but other places talked about it)

I am currently working on a project which involves creating many web controls, some of these web controls have buttons and links which post to aspx pages. However these pages are likely to change and could again change in future. It would be nice if I could list the pages as names in a config file and the resolve page name and do a lookup so when they change I just change the config file rather than all the controls. Firstly is this possible and/or is there a better method? It would also be good if there was somekind of chaching method so we dont actually have to query the file everytime.

I have a gridview with a hyperlink control that allows the user to save pages to it (www.google.ca, asp.net, etc). Unfortunately it always adds the server name to the beginning of their link. [URL] I was wondering is there any way to change that within the control. or should I have it pass a query string to a url handler that will response.redirect them to their actual page?

This might sound like a stupid question, but here is what I want:in an aspx page in Sharepoint wiki, there's a section that I can insert rich text and html code. Here I want to transfer plain html pages to sharepoint wiki.The original html page has many in-page links, like "/Build_Environment/SQL/macs.html#CREATE_TABLE" where links to a section called "Create_Table" in the same page.How would this be done in aspx page? Is it something can be rewritten in html format so that in aspx page, the html section will also work as before?

I have a solution with quite a few different MasterPages / BasePages which all inherit from somewhere else. My problem is that I have a virtual string in BaseMaster, which is overridden by BaseManagement, but when I try to access this string I always get the base valueThe point of inheriting masters and pages is obviously to avoid having duplicate code everywhere.

I don't understand because the click event doesn't fire in ascx control nested in masterpage.
The scenario is:
In Page Pre-Init i load a particular MasterPage, one of these have a ascx control with LogOff Button.
The ascx is showed correctly but doesn't fire the button click event that allow me to logoff.

I wrote a test page that does a bunch of busy work in a method called at page load. This process as I have it now takes around 12 seconds.
If I try to load another page while the first long running page is loading, this second page doing nothing except writing out a world, it doesn't load until the first long running page is finished.
Why is this the case? I would think IIS would be able to handle multiple concurrent connections, it seems crazy that one long running page would stop every other page in the application from loading. I must be missing something or not understand how IIS works.
I would think multiple independent requests would be spawned on different threads. Is this only the case if the requests are from different sessions entirely? Are all requests from a single session bound to a single thread?

I have a main master page, say MasterPageMain, and a couple of folders with couple of pages in each folder which act as a child page to that master page - MasterPageMain.
Now, I have about 10 pages in one of the folder which follows a certain pattern and they could really use a nested pages since any change on some parts needs me to change all the pages which is a pain really.
I already added a Nested master page, say NestedMasterPage - which is a child of MasterPageMain
I tried to change one of the page's <%@ Page directive to NestedMasterPage, immediately, there were a lot of errors. plus I dint know where the NestedMasterPage's children content would go.
What do I need to know in order to do this succesfully?
ps: I dint do this initially because I only had 2 pages, and I dint need this at that time, as the project grew, now i see that I should have changed it much earlier..

Using MVC 2 for what it matter. (And also keep in mind for some reason I NEVER used Nested Master Pages)
I got a single Master page that work across my site.
However, I found from the design now, that each "Area" have a different subnavigation.
Figured it might finally be a reason to use Nested Master Pages....resulting into a lot of swearing over here...
What I did:Add a "Nested Master Page" to the "Shared" folder of a specific Area
(project/Areas/xxxx/Views/Shared/NestedMasterPage.Master)VS bring up a box asking to specify a Master Page, and I select the only one i have (project/Views/Shared/Site.Master)Leave it as is, I add a new View and for it's Master Page I browse to the new Nested Master Page.When I click Add, the following Error comes up:"The ContentPlaceHolder 'MainContent' doesn't exists in the Master page '~/Areas/xxx/Views/Shared/NestedMasterPage.master'. Please choose a valid ID for this Master Page.Bit buffled..the code for the nested master look like this:[Code]....
'MainContent' right there, or what is VS talking about?

I'd like to track how many visitors I get in each page on my website (entirely coded with .aspx pages). I'm not very familiar with ASP.NET, but I'm sure that it has an easier way to count each page's hits than putting code on each one of my .aspx pages. I assume that this "way" is using the MasterPage I already use. Am I wrong or correct?I'm using Visual Studio 2010. When I began my first ASP.NET project, I didn't know about Masterpages, which was a pain. Because I had to manually change each and every link on all of my web pages. This was all mainly for the top menu and side menus.
But now that I'm using a master page, I think it's going to be much easier. But, I'm running into an issue.
When the user loads default.aspx, they see the following on the top menu.
Which is how I want it. But, what if they click one of the links? Before, I just updated that code to make the button of that page the active one. But, if they're all inheriting the same page, how do I commit this changes? I don't want to omit that part and manually change it on each page, because that would beat the entire purpose of doing this.
I also don't want to create another master page for each link. That would also beat the purpose.

I have a VS2008 / C# app with about 30 web pages. All of them access a central Master Page and it works well.
I now have a new page to create which will have many, many sub-pages. The hierarchy will look like this:
Master Page
Web Page
Sub Page 1
Sub Page 2
. . .
Sub Page N
Doing a lot of reading, apparently I can turn the "Web Page" into a nested Master Page and then each Sub Page would become a Web Content Form. Just wondering, is this the ONLY approach I have available to accomplish this? Or are there other options?

I have a nested master page and CalendarExtender errors for any asp pages that references the nested master page.
The calendarExtender works if i put it on a page that references the top level master page and also if i add it to the nested master page it works.
I have the scriptmanager in my top level master and i have tried placing it in the child master and the child asp page.It compiles and works at run time. The problem is at design time any container that contains the CalendarExtender errors so i can't view the layout. I have an asp:panel with a table and a number of controls, one being the calendar extender. The entire panel errors and wont render any of the controls.
