Web Forms :: Find Control In A Textbox Present In A Wizard (in VB)?
Jul 22, 2010
I have a wizard named as "Wizard1" which has a Textbox named "tbRegion". Now I want to get the value from the textbox into a label "Region". Now this textbox is in step 2 of the wizard.
I'm currently experiencing issues when I try to update the text value of a label. The label is located within a HeaderTemplate. The HeaderTemplate is within a Wizard control. why I'm uable to access it directly or with using findcontrol?
I believe that Findcontrol returns back a null when I go that route. Here's a code snippet below of what I'm working with. I'm trying to update lblCurrentJob with text that changes based on what the user selects on my page.
I am very new to .NET platform (from a PHP background) and I am developing a simple multi-step online form. The user can come back and edit the form after they have initially completed it.User clicks edit form. The information saved in the database is retrieved and populated in the form elements like textbox, dropdown box, image files. And this is all inside a wizard control.
I can do this in a gridview using datasource and databind but the datasource doesn't seem to work with wizard.
How can I get all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName().
Below is my JQuery code:
[Code]....
The above code isn't displaying hint text when the textbox retreives focus.
I think there is something wrong with this getElementsByTagName("asp:TextBox"); , I have also tried getElementsByTagName("TextBox"); , getElementsByTagName(":textbox"); and getElementsByTagName("input"); .
But no one of them gets the textboxes array.
Can anyone tell what will be the correct syntax for getting all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName()?
I am using CreateUserWizard control on my admin page. After successfully creating a user with the control, it displays "Complete Your account has been successfully created."After clicking on continue button it sets the ActiveStepIndex Correctly. The problem is, while it sets the ActiveStepIndex correctly, it retains the old user account credentials.
I can't seem to find a textbox using FindControl. The textbox is located inside an asp:Table, asp:Table is inside a UserControl and I load the usercontrol into the parent page.
I have a DetailsView control where I use templatefields. One of them are textcontrol tempatefield and dropdownlist templatefield.
What I want to so is, when I select let's say "Dollar" value in DropDown list, textcontrol text to be assigned "USD". Basically, text property of textcontrol to be asggined based on dropdownlist selected value.
I am trying to use something like this but it gives me an error:

I'm trying to use JQuery to disable the "FinishButton" - inside the ASP.Net Wizard Control. However the error I'm getting is: "The name 'FinishButton' does not exist in the current context."
I'm not sure if I need to use the JQuery "children" method to find this control that is inside the Wizard Control's "FinishNavigationTemplate"? I tried to do this, but it did not work:

I have a user control with a textbox. I am loading it at runtime on parent page with code behind. After click of button on a parent page i need the text of that usercontrol's textbox.

I have a gridview with a template field column. In the edittemplate of that column i have a textbox. In the next column of the gridview i have a button. When i click the button i need to find the value of the before mentioned textbox. I do it like this:
gridview1.selectedrow.findcontrol("textbox1"). This sometimes work just fine and without a problem but sometimes it seems it can't find that control and throws a null reference object. The error it's random like i said, sometimes just work and other just don't work...
I am writing a custom control and implementing ITemplate in it. The code that I am using can be reviewed at the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178657.aspx
Under the Template field, I would only like to allow controls of specific type only, say LinkButton and TextBox. If any control(s) present inside Template is anything except LinkButton or TextBox, an error should be thrown. I am wondering how can I check it programmatically inside custom control. The problem is that there is no collection available that lists all the controls that of Template (or may be I am not aware of it.)
