Based on this I want to create controls on the page dynamically. I think it is a bit like the ASP.NET Dynamic data project, but I have no Entity Framework or Linq to SQL Context available. Of cause: I can write my own XML parser and page generator but I don't want to reinvent the wheel again. Do you maybe created a similar project or know some good source that uses the same approach?
I am developing an application usingg ASP.NET with C# and SQL SERVER 2005. in my application i have a image control and that image control wil be binded up from the database. if i have 4 images for a perticular id in database, the 4 images will bindedup.upto this it is working fine. now my requirement is i have to generate the fileupload control based on the count of images for a perticular id. i have 4 images in database ,4 fileupload controls should be generate.
it is possible to customize the typed view generation process to generate the proper controls based on the fields annotations of a model. For Example I have a Person Model that contains Foreign Keys like CityID,DepartmentID etc. So When i generate a view againt the Person Model it creates textbox's for all the Person fields but i want dropdownlists against FK fields. It Should be smart enough to at least geereate the peroper controls based on the Person's field annotations. How can i acheive that? Has anybody worked on that?
I have a database which contains an ID combined with a date, for example:
ID Date 1 14-12-2009 2 17-12-2009 1 16-12-2009
What I try to achieve in ASP.NET is that for each ID (in this example 2 unique IDs, but can be more than 2) the last weeks (Now-7 days) business days dates are listed, which are not yet in the database. Like:
I am using Sql Server Reporting Services and want to generate report on users based on date selected. The report runs fine but my problem is there are only 3 records in database in aspnet_Membership table? Can i get any script that has 100 or 1000's or records so that i can test my report query properly? Is there any script available which can populate my table with 1000's of records?
My website was developed for me some years ago and is currently being rewritten by another developer.
One of the features of the website is that I can alter the layout of the pages using 'switches' in my Content Management System. These 'switches' typically allow me to swtich images on/off, alter their size and select whether text is shown to left, right, above or below the images.
My current developer has advised me that:
'there is no HTML document at design time, the HTML in it's complete form only gets generated at runtime. If you look at CMmod_main.ascx.vb you'll see that various fragments of HTML are being added to the page at various points throughout the server side code (inside if statements etc).'
He goes on to say that:
'it's extremely difficult to maintain, extend or debug in the future.'
So my question is what is the most efficient way to generate, based upon the 'switches' already contained within an sql database, webpages at runtime?
I have done a great deal of research on the internet and cannot believe that my requirement is unique. But I have been able to find little relevant information. The most promising solution, so far, seems to be an article [URL] which deals with email templates.
I need to generate a Unique Reference number that has 7 digits.
It should be formatted in the following way:
1st: B (Ball), G (Gift), C (Cat)
2nd: represents year of booking A(2010), B(2011),C(2012), etc
3rd: represents the month of booking J(Jan),F(Feb),M(Mar),A(Apr),Y(May), U(Jun), L(Jul),G(Aug), S(Sep),O(Oct),N(Nov),D(Dec)
4th: days of booking A(1st) - Z(26th), 1(27th) - 5(31st)
5,6,7th: These are counters for the number issues each day. Each can be A-Z,0-9 giving a total of 46,656 combinations. So 0 is first, then 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A-Z, then 00 to 0Z, then 10 to 1Z, then 20 to 2Z, etc
Now , the 1st Digit is a Character that I generate based on a condition and that shouldn't be a problem.
I need to dynamically generate a series of RadioButtonLists based on information stored in a database. I've got this down. It is retrieving the values that I am struggling with. I assume that the issue is probably the fact that I need to recreate them on each intialization...but I don't know how to do that and was wondering if someone could guide me in the right direction.
I'm new to ASP.NET and I'm trying to make a site that has a couple of questions that are followed by four answer choices that are in a radio list. The user picks a choice and it gets saved to a database. My question is: can I create a table with a question number, the question, and the answer options and have ASP create the pages (one per question) for me based on a template? If so, how would I go about doing that
I have a webforms (framework 3.5) site with a TON of dynamic content. Depending on the url, one or many content items will be sent to the client. I need a way to generate meta keywords for SEO based on the contents of the page (or part of the page, if possible).
I've done a little research and am not really turning up anything that addresses my problem directly. I have, on the other hand, found some interesting stuff that might get me there with considerable work. One idea I have is to intercept the response buffer at Application_BeginRequest (global.asax), parse out some meaningful keywords, and inject them back into the response buffer. However, this seems like a pretty expensive process and I don't even know if it's possible. I also feel like there could be a way to do this with an HttpModule.
I'm interested in what the community has to say about this. Is there already an existing and accepted way to do this that I'm just missing.
say i have 2 asp.net default calendars. Now from one i select the date as August 20 2010 and in second i select the date as March 2011.
My Question: How can i generate dynamic calendars based on dates that i have selected inclusive of the dates? Hence for above example the dynamic calendars would be say from August 2010, September 2010, Oct 2010, Nov 2010.....Upto March 2011.
I want this to happen in ASP.NET ONLY.(ver 2.0/3.5)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Visual Studio 2008 Team System Using C# SQL Server 2005 Express Management Studio (Service Pack 3) By using Visual Studio 2008,I opened Server Explorer and tried to modify Database connection,i wanted to use SQL Authentication,I entered User name and Passwored after pressing OK button,i got the following... Error message Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server.Only an integerated connection can generate a user instance. The connection will be closed.
A DropDownList is put in a GridView's TemplateField. Its corresponding table cell at runtime shows three controls (verified by checking gv.Rows[iSelected].Cells[iColumn].Controls). The three controls are: 1. Literal; 2. DropDownList; 3. Literal. It is not the case for other controls, at least not for TextBox which I usually access by something like gv.Rows[iSelected].Cells[iColumn].Controls. This is not a big problem because I can always access it by its static ClientID, but I am curious why so and whether other controls have the behavior.
My asp table contains two rows and 4-4 colums each . i have some default control on it, Now i have a link button below it when some some click on that i want to generate a row with 4 more control on it.
and to do so i wrote some code, but my problem is it only generates a single row, if i click on button next time it will not work.
On my form I want to display n number of rows of asp textboxes where n is determined by the number of records in the corresponding database table. I can dynamically generate html controls and get the values via request.form but I can't figure out how to do the same with asp controls.
The output from the following code, displays the text boxes from the "input type=text" statement, but displays nothing for the "asp:textbox" statement. I would prefer to use asp (or third party controls) so would greatly appreciate help on how to render non-html controls dynamically from my code behind.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim ncount As Integer = 0 Dim strOutput As String = "" [code]....
I am wanting to create a message board for team and would like the header to be generated from thier team color stored in sql. First I am currently just using varchar to store it. Would that be right or would there be a better format? Second how can I get my form to generate the header color off of this stored value?
I coded in code behind to dynamically generate a gridview as the columns of the gridview changes based on user selection. In the gridview I have dynamically generated controls like textbox, dropdown list etc.I have a few filtering options about, for example: listbox which will postback on change and causes the gridview content to change as well.My problem is: since the controls are randomly generated and every postback will read dataset from database and reload, the naming of the controls are dynamically generated too.
How can I create a printable report that's based off filters? I tried using Report Viewer but it doesn't give me any way to modify the select statement based on selected filters. I want users to be able to select a Location, Job Title, and a Salary Range, and then click Generate Report to show a list of employees. I created some code that will give me a select statement based off the filters but all I know how to do with that select statement is put it into an HTML table. I need it to go into a printable report with employees grouped by location on separate pages.
I would like that ID of subcontrol generated from the GridViewRow (NamingContainer) be named including database unique ID.
Suppose in the first colum of my GridView I have a Label displaying the name of an item fetch from a database table.
SQL Database table definition
- UniqueID - Name
In this table I have the following records
- 1956 Hello - 3013 World - ... ...
Suppose I have a GridView having a label (id="lbName") in the first column template.
Now I'm binding GridView using this query : SELECT UniqueID, Name FROM SQLTable
After binding, the HTML result will be :
But I would like that NamingContainer names sub items like this :
So I have tried in the RowDataBound event of the GridView : e.Row.NamingContainer.ID = (DataRowView)e.Row.DataItem)["UniqueID"].ToString()At first look it output exactly what I need but after that I can't get working Edit mode, it seem to break DataKeys or something else.
