Web Forms :: Getting Response From HttpHandler Into JQuery?

Jul 7, 2010

After hours of searching in google, the best examples I could find it creating handlers and writing to its response object. I created an httphandler and invokes using jQuery on my html page. I write the result to variable "deliveryText"and send it viaresponse object but when on my html page when I click submit, it executes jQuery code and my httphandler returns html which is written to the page. What I want is to get that reponse in function(data) and assign it to a div name divData rather then displaying raw html on page.

Here is my code for reference,

Jquery - Allow User To POST Html String To A HttpHandler?

Feb 11, 2011

I am writing a content management system using JQuery.ajax & C#. The JQuery calls an httpHandler and POSTS the html from an html editor JQuery plugin.

I get an error in the handler about unsafe content (html basically) but I dont want turn off validation for the whole page, just the handler (the handler is part of a web control not the page).

So, is it possible to turn the validation off just for one handler? Or do I need to encode the html on the client?

In the end I went for the encoding on the client at Javascript/JQuery HTML Encoding

Web Forms :: Detect Client Side (using JQuery Or Ajax) That The Response Has Been Completed

Mar 3, 2011

I have a web form which does a full page postback when a button is clicked. This is caused by an update panel trigger. Client-Side: When the button is clicked, an animation gif is displayed Server-Side: When the button is clicked, the server side event changes the content type to excel, binary writes out excel content (byte array) and does Response.Flush() and Response.End() Client-Side: User is asked to either open or download the excel file. Animation gif is still displayed.

Question: How can I detect client side (using jQuery or Ajax) that the response has been completed. There is no page postback because the code-behind has cut off the response by using Response.End().

C# - Render Response Stream With Jquery?

Jan 9, 2010

MemoryStream export = new MemoryStream();
iCalendarSerializer serializer = new iCalendarSerializer(iCal);
serializer.Serialize(export,System.Text.Encoding.UTF8);
return export;

so I am using the C# DDay.iCal library for exporting my calendars. Serialize takes in a "stream" so I passed it a memory stream. I now have a generic handler that calls the method that contains the above code.

public class CalendarHandler : IHttpHandler
{
private Calendar service;
private Membership membershipS;
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
service = new Calendar ();
membershipS = new Membership (null);
string userName = context.User.Identity.Name;
Guid userId = membershipS.GetUsersId(userName);
context.Response.ContentType = "text/calendar";
// calls the export calendar(the code that showed above that uses dDay ical.
var t = service.ExportCalendar(userId);
t.WriteTo(context.Response.OutputStream);
}
public bool IsReusable
{
get
{
return false;
}
}
}

So now I wrote the icalendar to the Outputstream. Now I have a jquery post that goes to this method and now I am not sure how to take the OutputStream result that the jquery post will get and make it popup with a save dialog box.

$('#ExportCalendar').click(function(e)
{
$.post('../Models/CalendarHandler.ashx', null, function(r)
{
});
return false;
});

Response.Write JSONP Using JQuery And WCF?

Nov 18, 2010

UPDATE:

The service cannot be activated because it does not support ASP.NET compatibility. ASP.NET compatibility is enabled for this application. Turn off ASP.NET compatibility mode in the web.config or add the AspNetCompatibilityRequirements attribute to the service type with RequirementsMode setting as 'Allowed' or 'Required'.

when i try to access wcf service i get this error: the reason is HttpContext.Current is null, what should i do in this case?

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer s = new System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer();
Person p = new Person() { FirstName = "First name", LastName= "last name" };
string json = s.Serialize(p);
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Write("jsoncallback" + json);} //error

Jquery - How To Write A File To The Response Stream And Have A 'Working' Modal Window Show/hide

I need to to export a file to the user. It takes 1-2 min to generate the file so I'd like to have the page go into a kind-of modal mode with a layover on the page and a 'Working' spinner showing. The problem is I can't make the modal stuff go away after Save File dialog is closed.

How can I remove the layover after the dialog is done?

Web Forms :: HTTPHandler And Posted Files - Prompt A User To Crop Photos After Save

Mar 18, 2010

I am building an application that allows a user to upload multiple images, resizes them, and saves them. What I need (ok, what I'd like) is the following...

I would like some sort of way to prompt a user to crop the photos after they have been saved. I have code that creates a 175px square rectangle and saves that image. I need the user to select the image section they want saved and to do so I envision a window that automatically prompts them to do so once the upload(s) have completed. I think my preference would be to have a page or control (datalist, repeater, ectc..) that refreshes every time an image is saved and allows the user to crop the newly saved images. I'm opened to advice, opinions, free drinks and a clue.

MVC :: Response.End And Filters / Can Get Response.End() To Work When Called

Nov 19, 2010

I have a static method that I use to control REST styled HTTP codes when my mvc application encounters an exception.

The method looks like:

[Code]....

This is static becuase then I can call it within an action or inside a filter. The problem I am having is that when I call RaiseException inside a filter, it stills goes into the requested action. Response.End() doesn't seem to have any effect. Any clues on how I can get Response.End() to work when called?

Why My HttpHandler Is Ignored

Jun 28, 2010

In an ASP.NET application, I need to do some changes on every CSS file sent.So I created an HttpHandler (inside the app itself), added:

<add verb="*" path="*.css" type="MyWebsite.CssTestHandler,MyWebsite"/>
to Web.config in system.web/httpHandlers and modified the handler like this:
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
context.Response.Clear();
text.Response.Write("Hello World");
context.Response.End();

C# - Using Response.Filter With Response.TransmitFile?

Aug 10, 2010

I'm using Response.Filter in order to implement stream compression in accordance with HTTP Request Header Accept-Encoding

Here's the important stuff:

if (AcceptEncoding.Contains("deflate") || AcceptEncoding == "*")
{
HttpApp.Response.Filter = new DeflateStream(PreviousOutputStream, CompressionMode.Compress);
HttpApp.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Encoding", "deflate");
}

By and large this works as intended. However, I'm in a situation where I'm using an ActionResult on an MVC Controller to serve up files to the user agent:

Response.Clear();
Response.Headers["Content-Type"] = contentType;
Response.Headers["Content-Length"] = contentLength;
if (Request.QueryString["dl"] == "1")
{
Response.Headers["Content-Disposition"] = "attachment; filename=" + fileInfo.Name;
}
Response.Flush();
Response.TransmitFile(fileInfo.FullName);

To be more exact, the action method returns new EmptyResult() after the Response.TransmitFile() call. This works exactly as intended without the Response.Filter modification.

In this situation, the response entity reaches the user agent garbled and unintelligible. FireFox's Poster addon shows empty entities or jumbled entities coming back.
