View 2 RepliesWeb Page Design is a very important stage while developing an asp.net project as it will create the look and feel of the site. So I want to be careful in this stage. Could you give me some practical tips for designing professional looking website? Or Is there any website that offers free Master Page design templates? I am going to develop a new web application for my company. So I want to provide a good looking, easy to navigate and consistent web application to them. Thanks in advance to all who reply.
View 2 RepliesI have added an assembly(GAC DLL) in my web.config, but if someone does not installed my assembly, the web page can still work without error or successfully running in visual studio debugger?
View 6 RepliesI am currently using VS 2008 Pro for an ASP.Net class. I got VS from school as part of MSDNAA program. It is version 9.0.21022.8 with .NET framework 3.5 SP1.
My problem is that when I start it up, it does not give me the option to Create or Open a Website. It only gives me the option to Create or Open a Project. So, when I start my homework or in-class assignments, I have to press Shift+Alt+N to Create a Website.
Where the problem comes in is after I start working on the website, I hit Save and it changes it to a Solution. This seemed to have caused a problem with BIND commands being lost in my last homework assignment. Is there something wrong with my install or a setting I can change? I'd rather not reinstall it unless I have to since it is such a pain to uninstall it in the first place.
I was wondering if there was any way to ignore content if a contentplaceholder doesn't exist?
View 2 RepliesHow to ignore route in ASP.NET vNext (MVC 6)?
Now I using the following routing config:
public void Configure(IApplicationBuilder app)
{
app.UseMvc();
app.UseMvc(routes =>
{
routes.MapRoute(
"Root",
"{*url}",
new { controller = "Root", action = "Root"}
);
});
}
The global root controller render a view in which I initialize AngularJS. It works for me, but I need to ignore routes for .css | .js | .*images_extensions* .
As I understood the following code doesn't work for this version of ASP.NET vNext:
routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}");
How I can make ignoring of a route?
Is there a way I ignore all gridviews events (sorting, paginating) when using the back command (history.back)?
For example:
The user is sorting my grid and when he presses the back button or a link with history.back he goes to the previous page, not the previous grid state.
Im not using ajax or update panel, Im not allowed to. It's a regular grid in an aspx.
I have a freind who is in a country where she is not sure where can she finds Visual Studio to buy, she lokked arround in PC shops and did not find that. Is there a way that she can buy it online? or is there a category in Microsoft site that shows shops in countries the sell Visual Studio?

I'm used to working with visual studio 2005 team version which included C# and j++ as part of the install suite. I'm now at a new company and their professional version has only the Business Intelligence Studio for SQLServer installed. Is there a way for me to download the web development, C# and asp.net support into this visual studio instance? I'm limited to 2005 due to licensing restrictions.

I am working on a .NET web app. I need to display images from the file system. Can anyone recommend a slick, professional looking image carousel (even if there is a cost) that has allows the user to rotate through the images at the bottom and then displays the larger image when the thumbnail is clicked.

View 1 RepliesI am facing one problem with data connection in my MVC2 project. I couldn't able to connect to SQL SERVER Database, the error says "Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the [URL]
1. Just create a new MVC project
2. I did right click on App_Data and choose Add new item
3. Selected the "Data" option at left hand side and gave a name for the mdf file which is same as my current database mdf file name.
4. After that, clicked on Add button.
5. Then i got above error messages.
6. So do i need to install SQL Server Express 2005?
I tried in VS2008... Tools -> /Options -> Database Tools -> Data Connections, and changing "SQL Server Instance Name (blank for default)" to connect to my instance name but still it didn't work. I couldn't connect to the database from visual C#. I have read several threads about it but I couldn't get any good solution that can solve my issue.
I'm using .Net 4.0 to build a new website, but I can't find a good free tool to build a professional looking navigation bar.

View 1 RepliesI am using ckeditor as my Rich Text Editor (RTE). This is an html element control and not an ASP control. I would like to use the RequiredFieldValidator (RFV) control to make this field required.
I cannot find any documentation stating that the RFV can be used like this. Can anybody tell me if this is possible?
Here's an example - notice that there is an html textarea element - how do I use RFV on this?

Can I use requiredfieldvalidator apply to a tex box, txtOrderby, if txtOrderby is empty then set button1.enable = false?
View 2 RepliesSome times RequiredFieldValidator is failing to validate a calender textbox Field for date entry in the page so we receive a blank value in the email which the application sends and 1/1/1900 12:00:00 AM in the database for that corresponding control. It happened with a user who has got Internet Explorer and also the active Scripting is Enabled.
View 5 RepliesI have the following code:
<asp:RadioButtonList
ID="rbltest"
RepeatDirection="Horizontal"
RepeatLayout="Flow"
[Code]....
If the user submits this form, and they have not selected a option , I'd expect the validator to catch it but it's not.
How can I get my validator to ensure that one of the option radio buttons are selected?
I am trying to make my ASP.NET (2.0) application to work on Server 2008 (IIS 7) but all validations are ignored. Many textboxes have requireedfieldvalidators that should require user entries but they are ignored. The same application runs on a bunch of Server 2003 with no problems like these. Is there a setting on Server 2008 IIS that has to be enabled/disabled in order for the validation to work?
