In my user control I have gridview, and this grid is created programmatically, using Itemplate. In InstantiateIn methods I have this code.
Select Case _templateType
Case ListItemType.Header
Dim linkButton As New LinkButton [code]....
I want to wired up Click event to this LinkButton, and use this event in code behind.This is constructor of GridViewTemplate how implements ITemplate
Public Sub New(ByVal type As ListItemType, ByVal colname As String, Optional ByVal infoType As String = "")
'Stores the template type.
_templateType = type
'Stores the column na [code]....
and i have this call from user control:bfield.ItemTemplate = New GridViewTemplate(ListItemType.Item, dt.Columns(col).ColumnName, "label")
where is Dim bfield As TemplateField = New TemplateField()
I have searched around but unable to find a solution that will work. I have a link button that is created dynamically during the page load. It is given an ID (obviously). There is a script manager on the page. I have the controls added to a panel in the updatepanel (updatePanel1). There is a dynamic label that is also created with each link button. I can get a response from the linkbutton click event during a postback on the second time clicking the linkbutton, but I am getting a complete postback instead of the asyncpostback for that control. During the creation of the dynamic linkbuttons, I am also creating a dynamic trigger for each button and adding it to the updatePanel1. The Click event is not firing the method without doing a complete page postback.
View 4 RepliesI'm adding a linkbutton to my page from the codebehind, and attaching a Click event to it.
However, when i click it, it seems like it never gets fired. I've tried in debug, and it never enters the event. What am i doing wrong here?
The OnclientClick works fine.

I have LinkButton as the submit button in the web page. The problem I am facing is it is not calling servr side event handler.
The js function for 'onclientclick' is returning true but the method mapped to 'onclick' is not being called.
I tried putting alert message in onsubmit event also, that is also coming.
How to diagonise the issue? What are the possible reasons for this?
I have the following code and cant get it to work.. it will open a new window only on the 2nd click and if i comment out the response.redirect line.

I dont know what happened but none of my buttons or linkbuttons causes a postback anymore. I have dragged a few updatepannels on the page but the linkbutton concerned is not enclosed within an update pannel. when I click it there is just no postback happening anymore. I set the debugger at Page_load but...its not reached. I used firebug to analyse the http requests. there is none. its like those are not considered buttons anymore.

I am adding numerical page links for paging of a repeater. I have used on of the numerical paging samples as my base. It works fine if I have less pages than my maximum total links. Eg if I have 11 pages, but only showing page 1-10 plus a next for the 11th, I get an error about duplicate control ids. I changed my control id to use a Guid in the string to keep it unque, after making this change the event handler never fires
private LinkButton createButton(string title, int index)
LinkButton lnk = new LinkButton();
//lnk.ID = System.Guid.NewGuid().ToString("N") + "_" + index.ToString();//Event does not fire if I set ID with Guid

I have Web page that uses LinkButton control inside Template Fields of Gridview.I am trying to work on LinkButton Click event and trying to preserve the Value of LinkButton that user click, and based on that value, i want to refresh tha page data.I used CommandName and CommandArgument property of Linkbutton, but i can use that property only in GridView_RowCommand method by checking e.CommandName expression. But the problem with that Gridview_RowCommand event fire after all other page_load activity. So the value never used in the page_load event to refresh the data in all other control.

Can i bind and call the user control directly on click event of link button? instead of binding user control in another aspx page and then call it to the masterpage's link button click?
or else can i bind user control in a page lets say default.aspx and then call it in two different master page and show different functionality of it according to the masterpage its getting shown?
I want to access linkbutton at rowcommand event which is in footer and without commandname.
Actually i have a linkbutton in empty data templates footer template. At the rowcommand name of this linkbutton i want to access other linkbutton to change its commandname.
Problem : I have Added One Link button to the above Table.. Click Event for That Link Button Is not Firing Now. when i click on link button of table event is not firing at all.
LinkButton lbs = new LinkButton();
lbs.Text = "Submit";
lbs.ID = "lnksubmit"; lbs.Attributes.Add("runat", "server");
lbs.Click+=new EventHandler(lbs_Click); tcsp.Controls.Add(lbs);
tr3.Cells.Add(tcsp);
tabspilit.Rows.Add(tr2);
void lbs_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
throw new NotImplementedException();
}
I am using the following code to load user control on to ASPX Page, which under a Master Page:

The user control name is passed as a parameter on the URL.
Inside the user, there is a LinkButton. The link button has a simple server side code for OnClick event.
Everything is working fine on the production machine, but, on the Development machine, I can see incorrect behaviour. I have started making some development changes on the Development Machine since several months back, and it will be very difficult to find out what caused the problem.
When I click the LinkButton inside the user control, the user control is removed from the parent page, and the OnClick event of the LinkButton is not firing.
I did debug, and found out that after I click on the LinkButton inside the user control, then the Page Load events for the master page and the ASPX page are working fine, and the IsPostBack is set to true, but the OnClick event of the LinkButton is not firing.
I have created a master page for website layout in my project. I have used a linkbutton control to trigger between Login/Logout functionality but when I click on this control the underlying click event handler is not being executed anyway.When I click on this control, the page pointed by its PostBackUrl property is open which should probably occure after its click event hander have been executed.

how to handle click event of linkbutton in gridview in asp.net
View 2 RepliesThe LinkButton on click event automatically does what I think is called a postback. What line of code do I need to use to invoke this event?
View 3 RepliesI am working on an ASP.NET web application using .net 4.0 and VS2010.
I have a GridView and I am appending a row at the bottom to allow users to input data for "Adding" a new record.
The ONLY way I have found for this to work is to do this in the RowDataBound event of the grid. I can check to see if it is about to process the footer row then I know I am at the bottom and can insert this new row.
The row I am inserting contains a couple of TextBoxes and a LinkButton for the "Add" link.
If I just drop a LinkButton on my form and hook up the click event and I click the link button then the first thing that fires is the Page_Load event then my click event. However what is happening when I click the link button that was dynamically added to the GridView is the Page_Load event fires but the click event never does.
I have read 1000 threads saying to try to create the controls in the preinit() or some other event. In my case I can't. Or else someone would have to explain how to add the row to the bottom of the databound GridView.
Here is my code: (I removed creating the Textboxes because that is not part of the problem.

I have a user control that is dynamically added to a placeholder control inside an update panel in my main page. The user control has a linkbutton where I try to handle its Command event. The first time the link button is clicked after the user control loads, the form posts back but the command event handler does not execute, although the user control is still on the screen. The second and subsequent times the link button is clicked it works perfectly. When the user control first loads and I mouse over the link button, the browser status bar says: javascript: __doPostBack('ctl08$lbTest',''). After the first click, when I mouseover the link button the browser status bar shows javascript:__doPostBack('ctl07$lbTest',''). Why the changed in id, I can't figure but it must be why it is not hitting the event handler the first time it's clicked. Here is the cs code that loads the user control:

I have discovered something strange when using a ListView. I have a listview contained inside an uodate panel and everything works OK until I edit the editItemTemplate to use a LinkButton instead of a Button.When i use a LinkButton then the Page_Load event is fired.
View 3 RepliesHow do I setup a default setting so that if I do not set an OnClick (i.e the asp.net OnClick attribute) explicitly for an asp:LinkButton tag, it will not render an onclick(html attribute for javascript) attribute client side? By default, asp.net adds an onclick='doPostBack....' for the LinkButton.
Case for use:
There is a LinkButton tag on the page. For this page, if the user has one friend, I only want to run client side code if the button is clicked and would not for any reason want to make a post back. If the user has more than one friend I would want a click to trigger a postback.
Using any asp.net Ajaxtoolkit
Dynamically switching the control type (i.e. if friends == 1 use a asp:Hyperlink)
-I want to avoid this because it is not scalable. There might be many cases where I want an asp:Link tag to do a postback or to not do a postback depending on the user context or user attributes Using OnClientClick (I am using jQuery would like to avoid this)
I would like to call a method and pass a value to it on a link button autogenerated from the database in a templatefield inside a datagrid. I don't know much about delegates
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
..
((LinkButton)e.Row.Cells[(int)eMessage.TitleColumn].FindControl("btnMessageTitle")).Click += new EventHandler(delegate { viewSelectedMessage(this, 35); });
}
void viewSelectedMessage(object sender, int messageID)
{
lblTest.Text = messageID;
}
running the website and viewing the page source, I have realised that there is an OnClick event created for the linkbutton, however, this may be generated anyways. By running my solution using VS debugging, I can see that my method won't fire by clicking any of thos generated linkbuttons.
