I have a usercontrol having a textbox in it. In postback(like a Search in ASPX) I want to populate the textbox with the search result. But I am finding it difficult to replace the existing value in the textbox with the new value.What is the approach should I take to resolve the issue.

When I click on one of the hyperlinks of my gridview, I want to pass the value in that cell to a textbox located on my ascx page(parent). I try using javascript , but I can't get it to work. here is my javascript code and the gridview code:

How do I disable a button in an ascx page? I know how to do it on an aspx page with:

But the ClientScript function is not present in the ascx page.
I have an aspx page with multiple modal popups. These modal popups are trigger in the page behind code using .Show() and .Hide().
This is what I have in the .aspx page for the particular modal popup under discussion:

The example below demonstrates the type of calls I am making to the modal popup extenders. Basically using the Datalist item command, the datalist commands are responsible for triggering my modal popups.

They all work fine after postbacks except the "activityReport" case (the last one). The only difference with this modal popup is that it contains a user control and all the postbacks are happening in the user control. So the problem is that in the last case whenever a postback happens in the user control then the modal popup is close.
1. If I separate the modal popup and place it in a page all by itself and trigger it to .Show() through a button click in the page behind code then the modal popup doesn't close. See below example.

When i run the code it displays the output as hirerchical data ..What I want to do is i want the similar output in DropDown like if user opens the dropdown it shows the same hirerchical data with similar padding.how can i convert the same code to add list items of dropdown using the above code.

I have 2 textboxes and a submit button inside a .net composite server control. I tried to only postback when submit button is clicked. I set autopostback = false for both textboxes. But either one still trigger submit button's onclick event by hitting "Enter" inside textbox. How can I stop postback by enter key?

I have a gridview which is populated from SQL. SQL table fields are ProjectName,Description and TaskDate.Gridview should have 3 columns ; ProjectName,Description and Status

I have to build a few ascx partial views in my MVC applications to encapsulate re-usable functionalities as well as archive SOR and SOC. However, I encountered challenge how to encapsulate the business logic that drives MVC ascx views.In webforms, the code behind of an ASCX control can handle a button click event and browser still shows the same page with only one postback. How can I archive the same thing in MVC? When ~/Address/Edit/2 includes an ascx partial view with a button on it that calls another MVC action - let's say ~/ShareController/CommonAction - what is the best way for the CmmonAction to return to the very same view that includes the ascx file?Perhaps I am missing a common pattern in MVC web development?
View 5 RepliesI am having difficulties how to construct my question, but if I have to put it simply the situation is that I have categories of products. I have an aspx with a repeater on the left that lists the categories. And I want the products to be listed on the right. Category number is variable so I made an ascx with a DataList in it. When I try to do foreach category, ascx = new ascx(); then the DataList within this ascx control is null.
ps: what I want to do is to preload all the products (thre is not much) and hide the divs and fadein fadeout them using jQuery when a category div is clicked.
rightnow it is using jQuery.load(); and I don't like how the images load, cuz they download from top to bottom. Progressive gifs alsdo not an option. site demo is here [URL]
On a page, I have a couple of textboxes. I use JQuery to convert the text into currency format and tinally total these values and submit the form after changing. But I notice that the new total value is not what gets saved when I click Submit. The total textbox' s data changes on postback, but this doesnot happen with the other textboxes. Why would this happen? These textboxes are not in any update panel nor is the Submit Button.

View 5 RepliesI'm having a little problem with textboxes automatically resizing after postback.
I have a textbox on set with a width of 90%.
Now the text box works fine but if I have something in the textbox that is longer than what it can display, when I save and the page reloads with the string in there the textbox automatically makes itself larger and becomes bigger than the 90% that I set and goes off the page, a scroll bar appears.
Is there a way to turn this off? I have been searching and can't seem to find anything..
I realize that if I set it to a fixed with this problem goes away if I set a fixed width but I need it at 90%.
Also, I have some multi-line textboxes and they have the same issue, even though it's multi-line, it still becomes a little bigger wrap less times than it can.

On debugging I noticed that no values are taken from textbox and in postback the textbox is cleared.
I worked in viewstate stuff and enabled it for the textbox and page, but with no results.
I have one web control in a page.
Lets say i have a web control that has one <asp:textbox id="action" text="getArticle"> and one <asp:button ...>
If i press the button, a postback will occur but will not load this web control again but it is supposed to load another web control.
How can i obtain the value of the textbox. The issue is that the web control is not loaded so findControl("action") will return null.
What is the correct approach to handle this? Should i use url parameters? Is there another way.
