I have individual checkboxes within my page and need to provide a way to check or uncheck them all..
I cant use a checkboxlist because of the layout of the page.. so not sure if it would be easiest with javascript or do it with the checked event for the single check box that will be used..
I know that may not be the best or cleanest way, but is there a better way?
Reason i cant use a checkboxlist for the larger set of checkboxes, is that a few of them will have additional fields that need to be completed if they chose certain checkboxes.. so i have those controls next to the checkbox that they belong with..

This creates multiple check boxes on the form, and this works fine.
However, in the code behind for my button that the user clicks to execute the form, I cannot figure how how to read the values for the checkboxes. I've tried:

but cbxDrives is not recognized.
I need to read through all of the checkboxes to see their values, so that the appropriate actions can be performed in the code behind.

I wrote a code such that all the checkboxes in the col are selected or deselected at once by clicking the header checkbox. Now the issue is since I am using paging for the Gridview, once I select the checkboxes in the last col and go for the next page and come back to the previous page the checkboxes are deselected. I want to keep the checkboxes selected even after pagination.

I want to have a checkbox in a datagrid.
Suppose I click on one of the checkboxes and then realize i need to click on another, the screen has to automatically uncheck the previously clicked checkbox and then check the newly clicked checkbox.
In other words I need to clear previously checked checkboxes and check the recently clicked checkbox.
Also, I need to update a label in the page with a value associated with the row of the checked checkbox.
I should not be using a javascript to do this.

Aug 4, 2010I have an application that needs to render a page that will have multiple Radio Button Groups as well as multiple CheckBoxes. The desired layout is determined by a database table.
table structure:
PackageID uniqueidentifier
PackageName string
ItemName string
RadioGroupName string
ViewControlName string
This table defines a "Package". The "Package" can contain many different "Items" that require different controls used in the View. The "RadioGroupName" field is used to mark which RadioButtons should be grouped together. The "ViewControl" field marks which control should be used on the View to display the field. The query in my repository will return a result set such as
1 / "First Package" / "Item1" / "First Group" / "RadioButton"
2 / "First Package" / "Item2" / "First Group" / "RadioButton"
3 / "First Package" / "Item3" / "First Group" / "RadioButton"
4 / "First Package" / "Item4" / null / "CheckBox"

I have read that it is possible to use "if" conditions and looping structures inside the View. I have also read that this is a bad practice. Another issue I see is knowing which Item has been selected from each RadioButton group when I hit the Controller POST function. Previously I have built a page that has a single RadioButton group. I am aware that MVC renders true, false for checkboxes that are true, so if I wasn't coming through javascript, I'd just check for the presence of true, but how do I know if my checkbox is checked after doing form.serialize?

Jun 14, 2010I needed to redesign the input page. I have in place individual checkboxes to represent fferent selections. For the database, the result for these checkboxes are in a seperate table. The insert only works for the first table which are textboxes. The information is not getting stored for the checkboxes. I have it separately eventually the checkboxes will be used for a search feature. For example, the information of the company, phone, address are getting inserted into the database but the checkboxes refering to the business is not being stored. What am I doing wrong with my code? Mar 29, 2010I got a list of customers I thought I would list in a gridview or a repeater with customer html, it gone have paging. I'm gone have a checkbox for each customer in the list. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I should do to keep the checkbox value when I go to page 2-3-4 ect in the paging. I'm thinking a session to store the id of the checked customers. After I'm done setting the values they go to the database.
