View 1 RepliesI have a website in IIS 6.0 using an application pool with a custom service account. when I browse the website, I get an error "service unavailable" and the error in event log says "The identity of application pool 'SampleAppPool' is invalid, so the World Wide Web Publishing Service can not create a worker process to serve the application pool. Therefore, the application pool has been disabled". I think the utility "Aspnet_regiis" can be used to grant access to an account to IIS metabase according to the article [URL but is that the right way to fix this issue? because this utility is used for multiple things and may do more than just granting the permissions to the account, or should I just add the account manually to "IIS_WPG" group?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to setup and run a instance of SSRS. Everything through the configuration manager seems to be setting up properly, but when I try and go to the ReportManager I get a "Service Unavailable" error. I have tried eveything uder the moon to fix this issue. This is on a clients network. I have tried to run this under nerwork service, local service, local system and nothing seems to work. I have also went to component manager and added some permissions there. Any other suggestions as to what this might be? I have setup quite a few SSRS's for clients and have never run into this problem before.
View 3 Repliesi got a this exception when i calling my web service in producction server.i already test the web service in server side and this don't have problemasbut when i calling the web service in the development site this throw a

(english)"The request failed with status code HTTP 417: Expectation failed."
I have created a sample ASP.NET website and hosted it in IIS 6.0 . It is working fine , if the identity of the defalut app pool is "local system". But when i changed the identity with some other configurable user id then it is showing as "Service Unavailable".
The following message is found in the event viewver.
"The identity of application pool 'DefaultAppPool' is invalid, so the World Wide Web Publishing Service can not create a worker process to serve the application pool. Therefore, the application pool has been disabled."
we have a situation where we need to host two certificates on the same server and because we can't have two different certificates on the same server running off the same port we have assigned one certificate run through another port, which is 4443.
So the URL to our web app is now....
[URL]
If I punch this into a web browser I can access it fine, however, if I create a web reference using this URL in Visual Studio (2005) it can create the web reference fine and it builds ok. But whenever I call a web method on this service instance I get a HTTP 404 page not found Exception.
Is there any properties I need to set on the web service object to get this to work? I'm confused as to why it's not working.
I am currently writing a C# web service which has several methods, one of which has to receive HTTP POST requests. The first thing i have done is alter the web.config file in the web service project as below.
[code]....
But when i run this i get "The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error". If i remove the parameter, by removing the stringbuilder and byte code, as well as having no parameter in the web service, it works. So it is obviously a problem with the parameters. I actually want to send more data, and was using a string[] parameter in the web service, but this also failed.
Fist of all I want to say IIS to me is like a vending machine to a monkey.
So I have Windows XP SP2 with IIS 5.1 on it and an ASP.NET Web Forms project. I just want my website to be accessed by someone else from the internet or from my local network. How do I configure IIS so that is possible?
I tried a lot of user guides, but I don't know what I did wrong cause all I got was Page not foud and Service Unavailable.
I am connecting to remote server for web service using ASP.NET 3.5 web site. something like, [URL]. Remote server is providing digest authentication to access the web service. I dont have access to modify authentication on the remote server but I have an windows account on that server. If I try to Access service WSDL through programming I get the following error:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. Same web service if I try to access through browser, [URL], it asks for user name and password. Entered windows account user name and password, still getting error: You are not authorized to view this page, HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized. How to pass the digest authentication credentials to the web service through visual studio or any other programmatic method?
I'm writting text from dataset using asp.net 2.0.
This is working fine if its run through code.But if its hosted in the server ,its not working.
Its giving error ,
"Server Application Unavailable

I have developed the WCF service as follows.
1) Service Contracts in a project
2) Data Contracts in a project
3) Finally adding the reference of service contract project in a Hosting project (Console Application) with complete configurations.
I am adding one more windows app project as a client.When i am trying to add the service reference using the address "http://localhost:8000/Tasks", VS 2008 displays the below error.
There was an error downloading 'http://localhost:8000/Tasks'.
Unable to connect to the remote server
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000
Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://localhost:8000/Tasks'.
Could not connect to http://localhost:8000/Tasks. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000.
Unable to connect to the remote server
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000
If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again.
Now I'm developing the autogenerated mail program in my web application system.
And there is my code :
[Code]....
My environment is using Microsoft Exchange Sever and if I send my company address each other, there is no problem.
(e.g: my email addrss is [URL] and receipent address is [URL]
But when I send to [URL] I mean any other external mail address, I cannot send... the error message appears like this :
[code]...
I am having problem redirecting error when error is http 500 or http 403 locally running this site there is no problem it gets redirected to my errorpage.aspx. But when deployed at server, it does not get .tried putting try and catch in page_load and in global.asax and I have set Application_Error to redirect to that page and also set <customErrors defaultRedirect to that page also
error
statusCode="500"
redirect="/errors/errorpage.aspx?error=500"
/>
when i am adding service reference the Following erro shows Up..where as the same works on the Other machine. The url when tested in Internet explorer works but only while adding shows the error. The request failed with HTTP status 403: Forbidden. The HTTP request was forbidden with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'.

I have a simple Upload method that send the file to the FTP server, if the file name is already exist, i will overwrite the existing file in the server. This method is working fine.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to call WCF 4 Http Web Services which are hosted within an ASP.NET application. The Service is protected behind SiteMinder.
I was wondering how I could programmatically call the web service, and more specifically what information will I need to pass to be authorized within SiteMinder to access my resources.
I am making the request from the ASP.NET application running on the same server, so I have access to the authentication cookie.
have a web service that I'm trying to consume from a console app through http post. I receive a 500 exception error from the xmlstring parm being passed to the web service. Add the following to web.config of the web service. Although it is not working in debug in vs 2008 as well.

I'm trying to upload a file to an ASP 2.0 web service through HTTP 1.1 POST from a client-side application. If my web service function is declared as
<WebMethod()>
Public Function UploadFile(ByVal file as Byte(), ByVal fileName as String) as String
...
The test form says the request should take this form:
POST address_of_service HTTP/1.1
Host: <host>
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
Content-Length: length
file=string&file=string&fileName=string
How do I get my binary file data into that form? I've tried just converting the file data to a string and putting it in the body (file=<string_data_here>) but I get HTTP 500 errors back, complaining about not being able to convert it to System.Byte. I've got HTTP POST working fine elsewhere in my application with plain string parameters. Also, out of curiosity, why is it showing the file parameter twice?
I have one ajax call web service, and want to add some http headers using javascript, can we do that use setrequestheader in ms ajax?This is my javascript

I'm looking into building an ASP.NET MVC application that exposes (other than the usual HTML pages) JSON and XML REST services, as well as Web Sockets. In a perfect world, I would be able to use the same URLs for the Web Sockets interface as I do for the other services (and determine which data to return by what the user agent requests) but, knowing that IIS wasn't built for persistent connections, I need to know if there's a way that I can accept (and possibly even handshake) the Web Sockets connection and then pass the connection off to another service running on the server. I do have a workaround in mind if this isn't possible that basically involves using ASP.NET to check for the Web Sockets connection upgrade headers, and responding with a HTTP/1.1 302 Found that points to a different host that has my Web Sockets service configured to directly listen to the appopriate endpoint(s).
