I have been designing a basic static webpage which allows you to open the applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MSN, Skpe, etc.... below is the code i first used which works on a allow machine...
[Code]....
Again this works on local machine i should do once hosted... but i dont know what i should put for the Domain at the moment im using localhost... All i want this to be is the machine on which webpage is being viewed.... I know the details of all the machines that will use this but i dont know what domain instead of localhost i should use.
I've developed a C# Windows forms application that I want to market. I also have a web site built using aspx.net. I would like to have a customer download my application from my website to their machine and install it or save it. I've never tried this before, but it appears to be standard stuff for downloading anything from a web site.
View 4 RepliesI have been trying to make a program work with our IIS server, but it's run into a tricky problem that's been driving me nuts. When I debug the program, everything works perfectly; users are able to log in and they see the appropriate content according to the user's role. When logging in from a remote location, however, the program seems to have trouble finding the users' roles. Users can log in, but they cannot see any role-specific information, so they are stuck on the login page forever.
I tried adding a line of code to find the roles of a particular user. In debug mode, it returned the roles correctly, but when accessed through the server, it returned an empty array that caused my site to crash.
I was looking for a chat program, and I found it here in Code Project,Build a Web based Chat using ASP.NET Ajax (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/ajax/aspnetchat.aspx)The code is working perfectly, except 2 issues, can anybody tell me how can I overcome these issues?1-how can I get for example the last 2 hours chat from the database, when a new user enters to the chat room? I tried the getlastmessage stored procedure, but because of the refresh, it keeps showing the messages over and over. any solutions?2-In firefox after I hit the enter on keyboard I see two messages instead of one. sometimes it happens in IE too.
View 1 RepliesI use asp.net to download a csv file from server, like: ttp://www.asd.com.tw/files/items.csv , but when user click the link, the download file name change to items.xls. How can I let the file not to be changed?
View 1 Replies I have a gridview that includes a list of .pdfs, .xls, and .docs. In my testing, I set the default "file associations" for each of these types of files. But, when I click to open them, instead of launching the default program, and then opening the file in that program with all it's features, it opens another browser window, and so all the programs features aren't available to the user to make changes to the file, and then save it to their desktop.
How can I force the files to open in whatever the user has set as their association?
I upgraded from 3.5 to 4.0 and noticed links in my subdomain behave differently - they still work, but add a redundant folder - for example: sub.mysite.com/sub/mypage.aspx. In 3.5 it was: sub.mysite.com/mypage.aspx. The code is thus: asp:HyperLink NavigateUrl="~/mypage.aspx"... The sub folder is a root in IIS7. Is there some way to avoid the second /sub/ showing in the broswer address bar so it looks like it used to in 3.5? Is there something I should place in my 4.0 web.config file?
View 1 RepliesI want to write a program that keeps looking out for a file in a folder. That file will be dropped in at a particular time. If no file is recieved at that time, I will have to send out an email saying no file is recieved. How can I do this?
View 1 RepliesI have the option of having a VB function to re-format a file within my website or to have the program given to my 12 member (only) user group to re-format. Which is better ??If its not part of the website, each of the 12 member user group will have the VB.exe code to run that generate the file and it can be uploaded to the website. If the webiste runs its own vb code, it will require the data to be upload and then generate the file.
View 3 RepliesI changed the 'applicationName' attribute of all the providers in the web.config file from its default value of "/" to an actual name "/sampleName" and I have also changed it in the aspnet_applications table in the asp.net database.

View 1 RepliesI have a VS2010 project that I want to move back and forth between an x86 and an x64 machine. On the x86 machine, several assemblies are located in Program Files, and the path of the assemblies are shown as c:Program Files...... When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86).... Is there a way that I can confugure VS2010 so I don't have to manually change the path when I move the project from one machine to another?
View 1 RepliesAfter some code change I have published my AJAXised web application to the server and the application failes to work properly - something weird is going on, as all .aspx pages are displayed as an ASPX markup text (page declaration, html controls, etc.), rather than a page is being rendered as an html. I have not changed the webconfig, only changed my pages' content/code behind.

For our ASP.NET project for school we had to build a sport event management web application.
We provide the application in three languages (English, Dutch & French) which you can switch all the time. This has worked all the time for all users, well that's what we think anyway.
Yesterday I found out that switching from one to another language isn't working for 2 of our users. So I started testing a bit and I always got this error.
I'll try to explain what happens behind the doors when changing the language:
First of all the current language is saved in a session so we don't have to check the user row every time a page loads. Besides that we save the language in the users row in the database.
Users Table:
Id int

Email varchar(150)
