Web Forms :: Trying To Get Footer-links To Sync On Top Level Sites To Subsites In Master Page?
Mar 4, 2011
I want to be able to sync the footer-links on top level sites and subsites. Currently I have 7 links on top level site and 3 on a subsite and 2 on another sub site. How can I set up the code in my master page so the subsites will show the same footer-links as on the top level site. I know the code has Sharepoint controls in it but it is C#code in a master page. So the concept is still in .NET.Here is the code that I have so far, I am unsure about what should go in this line specifically in the code
I'm using the below css code to do a master page with a header, center and footer div, where the footer div at the bottom of the page (100% height of my page). This code works fine for IE but not for Firefox. How is it possible to modify it for firefox browser? My css code
I have a fairly complex web app which has two levels of master page. The top level provides a nav bar constructed from a Menu control across the top of the page. Second level master pages provide menus down the side. It all works well.
On both Menu controls, I need to handle the MenuItemClick event. This works fine on the Menu controls on the second-level master pages. However, the Menu on the top level master does not raise the event at all.
This web site makes extensive use of Ajax and the top-level master page contains the ScriptManager. Before I go to all the work of creating a much simpler test site, why the Menu control is not raising the MenuItemClick event?
Here is the markup for the Menu in the top-level master:
[Code]....
Here is the MenuItemClick event handler:
[Code]....
The logging call in the event handler never gets called. Equivalent code in the Menu on the second-level master does get called.
i want to place a bulleted list with links inside a master page. the problem is that no matter what i do i get an error when i try to press on the link when the link directs me to a page that exists on another folder in my project. (i tried using the ~/some_folder/somewebform.aspx but it didn't work).
I am attempting to access a textbox control on a master page from a code behind base class but having problems. I have 3 levels of master pages. m1.master is the master page for m2.master which is the master page for m3.master.m3.master has a textbox as shown below
I have a page which has menu of the items on the left and the content page on the right. Since, master page is used, there is a few content on the footer of the master page.As a default, the left menu shrinks but as you expand the menu tree, the menu items goes down and down. But the footer of the master page remains there so that its ugly looking.IS there any way to push the footer of the master page also below and below as the menu items grow and grow (moves below and below)
I have a master page with links to other pages in the site. Those links use tilde paths (like "~/dir1/page2.aspx"). On most of the pages in the site that use this master page, there is no problem. The problem only seems to be on a few pages that use the master page, the links are VERY wrong, it tries to use the ~ as part of the link (so they are[URL]. It's as if it is treating the tilde as a literal under certain
I'm fairly new to mvc and I'm just looking for a best practice on hiding action links in the master page depending on the user logged in. Since the master page doesn't receive a model I'm not sure how to pull this off the right (MVC) way.
Only in master file, and only in <link> tag Links.Content.Site_css doesn't work. That is, if I have [Code].... If I put the same thing in <title>; or if I put the same link tag in a regular aspx file; or if I use Links.Scripts.jquery_js - everything seems to be working fine. Is there anything specific for resolving <link> tags in master page? I am using MVC 2 RC2
This is the content in the master page as you can see there are 4 menu items i tried to form as sidebar and i tried to inherit in home.aspx(one of the content pages) as follows:
But unfortunately the sidebar is not at all getting displayed. I know i'm doing fundamentally wrong some where. My intention is to have web pages to have sidebar like this. It is a screenshot of my intended page.
Not sure if the derived page is actually relevant to the problem here, but ran into an interesting gotcha on some code I'm working through at the moment.
I have a custom masterpage class, which derives from System.Web.UI.MasterPage so that it can be extended with additional useful properties. The page that that uses this masterpage has a declaration at the top (note the Page Title being set).
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPages/Landing.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Index.aspx.cs" Inherits="Index" Title="Welcome to the site" %>
In addition, the master page has stylesheet references in the head which are pulled from a CDN that is defined in a config file.
Now the example above obviously doesn't work, because the runat attribute in the head container means that the codeblock in the the link is static text, and renders as is, in the resulting html.
If I remove the runat attribute from head, the CDN works, but now I notice that the Title is no longer being set. If I debug, and try to access Page.Title in the Immediate Window, I get an exception:
// Using the Title property of Page requires a header control on the page. (e.g. <head runat="server" />).
So, is there a way to get the Page Title from the declaration, put my own title placeholder in the head and set it from the master page code-behind, or, is there a better way to dynamically set the CDN domain for the stylesheets? The only way I think I can do that is to build the entire html link tag(s) and append it to the header control, but I thought there might be a more elegant solution, so I'm asking here first.
I have to handle error related to web application. I am not sure how its works. I am thinking that I will add an error page (error.aspx) and in global.asax ,application_onError, I will redirecting the user to error page and that should be enough ! i mean it will handle error automatically.
this is my gridview footer calculation script, this script is working good if the aspx page is independent , when i use the same script with my asp.net master page content page that script is not working this is my script
what changes i have to do for apply this script to be work in my master page content page in asp.net
function GrossTotal() { $("[id*=GridView1]input[type=text][id*=txtCalc]").keyup(function(e) { var price = $(this).closest('tr').find("input[type=text][id*=txtCalcPrice]").val(); var quantity = $(e.target).closest('tr').find("input[type=text][id*=txtCalcQuantity]").val(); var total = parseInt(price) * parseInt(quantity); $(e.target).closest('tr').find("[id*=lblGrossTotal]").text(total); }); }
In master page I am using asp content place holder. And in my child page I am using pure html coding. When I attach master page in my child page I am getting this error.Content controls have to be top-level controls in a content page or a nested master page that references a master page.
I would like to design master page header to show report title and date. For Master footer page, I want to show address and page number. Thus, all report no need to design more page header and footer.
I'm trying to do dynamic switching of the master page in SharePoint 2007 publishing site.
I'm following this example which uses a HTTP Module [URL]
Here is my code
public class SwitchMasterPage : IHttpModule { public void Dispose() { }........
Everything is working fine when the current page type is an Application Page, however when the page type is a Publishing page (e.g. BlueBand.master) the page_PreInit procedure is never called - it is still being registered with the event handler though.
I use an updatepanel and I register a handler for endRequest to catch errors: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(EndRequestHandler); On the server an exception is thrown to test the client side. The problem is that in IE and FireFox EndRequestHandler is never called! It works as expected in Opera and Safari. On a simple page with few controls it works as expected in all browsers. What I found out with Firebug is that the response is Content-length: 67, but there is no response (empty tab for response)! The expected response is 53|error|500|Object reference not set to an instance of an object.|
I have not debugged the ajax library precisely but what I have seen is that some code runs to prepare for pageLoading event (maybe because it cannot detect the error?), but there is no information for updatepanels from the response and an error occurs trying to use an object for updatepanels which is null. The error is caught by a try-finally block.
how to implement page level and control level security in MVC applications. Also I would like to know the definition for Page Level and Control Level Security in MVC. Please refer me if any third party tools avilable to implement security in MVC.
I've created details masters before but can't remember what links the two together. When an item is selected with a master, such as a gridview, what is used to tell the details view which record to display? Is it the DataKeyNames property?
