I want to use authntication which apparently only work on folders. Thus, I wanted to move the Default.asp file into a new folder that I created. When I tried doing this by cut and paste I ran into problems. I changed the reference in the first line of the aspx file "Page" but the code behind VB file no longer sees the aspx page. In other words, the reference to contorls like Listbox1 show up being undeclared.
Is there a way to move the Default file and the related code behind file to a folder so everything works?

In my asp.net application on Windows Server 2008, I have code like this
tempfile = Path.GetTempFileName()
... Write data to tempfile ...
File.Move(tempfile, storageDir + fileName)
This works just fine. The problem is afterwards when I am trying to access the file from outside of ASP.NET. I get access denied, even though the user I am accessing from have (recursive) read rights to the storageDir folder.
It seems that the moved file doesn't inherit rights from the folder it is moved into. Is this correct, and if so, is there an easy way to fix that?
Right now as a direct fix I have changed every instance of File.Move() in my ASP.NET application to File.Copy() + File.Delete(), which seems to fix the problem.

I created a ASP.NET project under Visual Web Developer 2008. Under that project I had a Database (along with ASPNETDB.MDF) which has about 3/4 tables (I had SQL server 2008). Everything was working fine (like insert, delete, etc.). And I was able to view the tables in database explorer view.
Then I had to format my computer for some reason and I copied the whole project in a USB drive and then after formatting the computer I copied the folder and tried to open it in Visual Web Developer (now I have VWD 2010). I can see the both Database under App_Data folder (ASPNETDB.mdf and the DB I created). ASPNETDB has all the tables and data as expected. But I do not see the tables under the DB I created.

I've seen 100s of posts on how to change the mouse cursor using JavaScript/CSS. I know how to do that. Problem is, how do you get the browser to actually respect the change without the user moving the mouse? Update the cursor immediately, not wait for the mouse to move.I'm actually not even trying to change the mouse cursor, as much as just having dynamic content change that may end up with the mouse being over a different target now, and the new target now should have a different mouse cursor than the previous target. but IE7/8 and Chrome do not update the mouse cursor when this happens. They only update it next time the user moves the mouse. Firefox (3.5) seems to update correctly, but I haven't tested it a lot.
For example, the user clicks a control on my page, and maybe another control opens due to the click (maybe a modal dialog). Now maybe there is a different control under the mouse, but the mouse is still showing the cursor of the control the user originally clicked.

<location path="Account">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
and access to the Default.aspx using
<location path="Default.aspx">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
but how do i restrict access to a specific file in the Account folder rather than the entire folder?

<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>

I am saving the file name list in the specified folder into the database. But my code should detect automatically if any new files have been added or any files have been deleted from the folder, then only the changed file names should again saved into db. I am not aware of the features of Folder properties.

For some time now I am trying to figure out how I can refactor some of my code to reduce redundancy throughout my application. I am just learning the basics of OOP and can create simple classes and methods but my knowledge is limited in terms of practical applicability. The following bit of code illustrates my frustration:
[Code]....
This bit of code is used on several pages of my project in the pages codebehind file. How can I move this to a class file. I don't know how to reference an object like a gridview in a class because it does not exist like it does on the actual page.

I am using quite a few AJAX toolkit extenders e.g. RoudnedCorners extender, Watermark extender, etc. in my webpage. The problem is that these extendersadd a lot of script code to my webpage causing performance issue. Also, the presence of these extenders works against search engine as the actual content gets pushed down the page, thereby being risked skipped by search engines.
Is there any way where I can move these AJAX control extenders and/or their generated scripts to a different file ?

I want to upload files to the web servers from the client machines.
Can i upload a file on a network share folder using file upload control?
I would like to create a share folder on a file server sitting next to the web server. If i upload the file from the network share folder instead of uploading it from the client machine does it make any difference?
Will the file be stored in a temporary location before copying to the final destination? Where will be the file stored in this case of uploading it from share folder?
