AJAX :: Moving Toolkit Extenders Code To A Different File?
Jun 9, 2010
I am using quite a few AJAX toolkit extenders e.g. RoudnedCorners extender, Watermark extender, etc. in my webpage. The problem is that these extendersadd a lot of script code to my webpage causing performance issue. Also, the presence of these extenders works against search engine as the actual content gets pushed down the page, thereby being risked skipped by search engines.
Is there any way where I can move these AJAX control extenders and/or their generated scripts to a different file ?
If I use the extenders (for example mask edit) in place of some of the built in validators such as RegularExpressionValidator for exampe, will Page.Validate() still be called automatically and perform server side validation using the extenders?
I've been dealing with an AJAX issue for some time now and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. When I'm debugging and stepping thru my code it will jump into disassembly looking for a toolkit file. If I fit f5 I can continue debugging, but this happens often.
The latest one is: Address: AjaxControlToolkit.ExtenderControlBase.ExtenderControlBase() --- c:UsersswaltherprojectsaspNetAjaxReleases30930AjaxControlToolkitSourceAjaxControlToolkitExtenderBaseExtenderControlBase.cs I setup the toolkit by adding a reference to AjaxControlToolkit.dll There's a line at the beginning of the markup...and everything appears to work outside of the debug issue. [Code]....
For some time now I am trying to figure out how I can refactor some of my code to reduce redundancy throughout my application. I am just learning the basics of OOP and can create simple classes and methods but my knowledge is limited in terms of practical applicability. The following bit of code illustrates my frustration:
[Code]....
This bit of code is used on several pages of my project in the pages codebehind file. How can I move this to a class file. I don't know how to reference an object like a gridview in a class because it does not exist like it does on the actual page.
I want to use authntication which apparently only work on folders. Thus, I wanted to move the Default.asp file into a new folder that I created. When I tried doing this by cut and paste I ran into problems. I changed the reference in the first line of the aspx file "Page" but the code behind VB file no longer sees the aspx page. In other words, the reference to contorls like Listbox1 show up being undeclared.
Is there a way to move the Default file and the related code behind file to a folder so everything works?
I would like to restrict what they see in the file upload dialog, which is set to "All Files" by default. I understand how to validate that they only uploaded a certain file type, that is not the question here. I would just like to know how to default the file type in the file selection dialog.
Is there any way to change this to "PNG only" or "*.png"?This is using AsyncFileUpload in the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.
Recently, I downloaded the source code (not Binaries) of latest AJAX toolkit and introduced some changes in Calendar extender. Now, I would like to build the DLL out of it so that I can add it to my project and use it. Now, when I am trying to build DLL, it fails. It never compiles for me. Infact, I am not sure which project/application file exactly do I need to run.
Every-time, I try to open any Solution/Project, I get exceptions either for some missing files or folders. I have both VS 2005 Pro and VS 2008 Express Edition installed. I need the libraries to be compatible with Framework 3.5.
I am using following server side code to save the data from ASP.NET Control toolkit Editor to the database It follows with the HTML Code The problem is that, data is saved successfully. But it is saved twice. Main problem is this server side event is fired twice. How can i prevent it from firing twice?
Server side code Imports System.Data.SqlClient Partial Class Administrator_Calendar Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub BtnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnAdd.Click Try Dim dbobj As New db Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim rdr As SqlDataReader = dbobj.selectQuery("select max(srno) from calendar") If rdr.HasRows = True Then rdr.Read() i = rdr.Item(0) End If rdr.Close() dbobj.insertQuery("insert into calendar values (" & i + 1 & " , '" & Me.Txt_dt.Text & "' , '" & Me.Editor1.Content & "')") dbobj = Nothing Catch ex As Exception End Try End Sub End Class HTML CODE <%@ Page Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPages/Admin_AftrLogin.master" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Calendar.aspx.vb" Inherits="Administrator_Calendar" Title="Excel Crop Care Ltd. / Administration Section / Manage Calendar..." %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit.HTMLEditor" TagPrefix="cc2" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="Server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder2" runat="Server"> <div> <cc1:TabContainer ID="TabContainer1" runat="server" ActiveTabIndex="0"> <cc1:TabPanel runat="server" HeaderText="Selected Dates" ID="TabPanel1"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:GridView ID="Gridview1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="srno" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowDeleteButton="True" ShowEditButton="True" ShowInsertButton="True"> <ItemStyle Width="20%" /> </asp:CommandField> <asp:BoundField DataField="srno" HeaderText="No." ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="srno"> <ItemStyle Width="10%" /> </asp:BoundField> <asp:BoundField DataField="date" HeaderText="Date" SortExpression="date"> <ItemStyle Width="30%" /> </asp:BoundField> <asp:BoundField DataField="description" HeaderText="Description" SortExpression="description" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:DataConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [calendar]" UpdateCommand="Update calendar set date=@date,description=@description where srno=@srno" DeleteCommand="Delete from calendar where srno=@srno"></asp:SqlDataSource> </ContentTemplate> </cc1:TabPanel> <cc1:TabPanel ID="TabPanel2" runat="server" HeaderText="Add New"> <ContentTemplate> <table> <tr> <td width="30%"> Date : </td> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="Txt_dt" runat="server" Height="16px" Width="170px" CausesValidation="True" Font-Names="Verdana" ForeColor="#666666"></asp:TextBox> <asp:ImageButton runat="Server" ID="Image1" ImageUrl="../Images/Calendar_scheduleHS.png" AlternateText="Click to show calendar" /><br /> <cc1:CalendarExtender ID="Txt_dt_CalendarExtender" runat="server" DaysModeTitleFormat="dd/MM/yy" Enabled="True" Format="dd/MM/yy" TargetControlID="Txt_dt" PopupButtonID="Image1"> </cc1:CalendarExtender> <cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender ID="Txt_dt_TextBoxWatermarkExtender" runat="server" Enabled="True" TargetControlID="Txt_dt" WatermarkText="DD/MM/YY"> </cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender> <cc1:MaskedEditExtender ID="Txt_dt_MaskedEditExtender" runat="server" MaskType="Date" CultureDateFormat="dd/MM/yy" Enabled="True" TargetControlID="Txt_dt" Century="2000" UserDateFormat="DayMonthYear" Mask="99/99/99"> </cc1:MaskedEditExtender> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"> <asp:Label ID="Lbl_msg" runat="server" Text="Enter description in the editor below :"></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"> <cc2:Editor ID="Editor1" runat="server" Height="350px" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"> <asp:Button ID="BtnAdd" runat="server" Text="Add" OnClick="BtnAdd_Click" Width="75px" CssClass="btn" /> <asp:Button ID="Btn_Rem" runat="server" Text="Remove" OnClick="BtnAdd_Click" Width="75px" CssClass="btn" /> </td> </tr> </table> </ContentTemplate> </cc1:TabPanel> </cc1:TabContainer> </div> </asp:Content>
When iam try to add ajax control dll file to my ajax toolkit given in visualstudio express edition 2005, i am getting the following error.
"There are no components in 'C:ProgramFilesMicrosoft ASP.NETASP.NET 2.0 Ajax Extensionsv1.0.61025AJAXExtensionsToolbox.dll' that can be placed on the toolbox." what is the error in this?
I am making a class library. I want to use some of ajax control but don't know how to use ajax source code. suppose i want to use file upload control in my class library. How should i accomplish this task. I mean to say how should i refer ajax file upload sript file(.js) in my class library.
I have this so far but kind of stuck on how to do it programtically if I'm using header and content templates I have a xmldatasource..In a nutshell at what point in my code do I need to create a new accordion? does it need to be in the item_databound handler?
I working with vs2010 and ajaxtoolkit version 40412.
In the previously version of toolkit I successed to debugging the built-in file script of the toolkit like ComboBox.debug.js but in current version the architecture is change and I don't success to drill down by debug (set breakpoint or debugger label) the script file
I have come to love this ToolKit massively;I wouldn't dream of completing a project without it now however I have come across a bug since the introduction of the WebKit Jscript rendering engine into Chrome and Safari3+. Therefore I have had to edit the source files of the ToolKit. I only made a simple change to accommodate for the lack of scrollTop offset changes within the HoverMenuExtender control. My question is how do I recompile the source so that it uses the HoverMenuBehavior.debug.js?
I download Ajax control toolkit to use it in my website. I readed "Using AJAX Control Toolkit Controls and Control Extenders (C#)" to known how i can use them. In the Control extenders when i added a button to My Webpage, How can i find "Add Extender task option" ? because i should click on it to set the options. The Add Extender task option is not appear...! I was reading the page [URL] that i encountered this problem.
am trying to use the AsyncFileUpload control in ajax toolkit to upload a picture file, save the file on a location on the server's filesystem and display the picture file back to the client system. I have both the image and AsyncFileUpload controls inside an updatepanel but its seems the UploadedComplete server code is not firing when the file upload completes any clue?
I have asp.net content page with an update panel, asp.net controls with ajax extenders and it has asp.net button with event click. everything is working ok exept one case. I have 3 DropDownList with CascadingDropDown extenders. when I click the button without selecting anything from DropDownLists then click on the button the event click will work OK but if I select anything my page will respond when I click on the button.I already I added triggers for click button.is there anything I should check to fix this problem???
I am developing a web application that needs to retrieve, display and write data to an SQL database. I'm trying to use AJAX and Javascripts in order to populate fields, lists and data, and to have button and calendar controls on the page that can update the page without refreshing and losing the data page. Therefore, it's necessary that I find ways to doing as much as possible client-side, without page refreshes.
Now, for security purposes, I've heard that there's a method for retrieving a copy of all relevant data from SQL at loading time, keeping a copy of it, perhaps on a separate page, and send-retrieve-display this data on my page, and then, at Submission time, write this data back to the Server. This is to minimize hits to the Server and to preserve data integrity. I've heard that doing this is called using an Extender, but we can't find examples of how this works so far.
I'm trying to add a modal popup extender to a site I'm working on, which I've done before, but its not working. The markup below is inside an update panel in my site and the function is in the code file. how I can get this to work? I've tried re-downloading the AJAX dll and replacing it but that didn't change anything and some of the controlsare working (like the slideshow extender but not the hovermenu extender or parts of the html editor control, both of which I also need to use) which leads me to believe my web.config is correct.
I am populating a table with 2 master 'CollapsiblePanelExtender's then under each master I have 3 others... my problem is that I have a BIG GAP between the master and the child extenders code to follow...
When selecting an image for an item in file upload control of ajax toolkit (AsyncFileUpload), the only files that should be displayed are ".jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, or .png".
This also works a treat. However, the update causes the animation/colour change to fire on both labels when either of them fires.
How do, or what do I have to do so that only one label changes colour one at a time i.e. when UpdatePanel1 updates, lblSearch1 changes colour but lblSearch2 stays as is.
When I format an accordion control using a skin file (as opposed to entering the formatting as attributes on each <asp:Accordion> tag), the control renders as expected when the website is run. However, in the VS2010 designer, the control won't display but instead shows the generic "Error Rendering Control" box which hasthe exception, "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute."
I am try to migrate an asp.net web application to mvc. The problem im having is that it uses all asp controls and a ton of ajax control extenders like filtered textbox, masked textboxes, confirm extender, modal popup, the calander, ect...
How can I implement these extenders with the Html.Textbox controls?
