I am using an asp.net autopostback enabled dropdown list. Here i want to restrict the autopostback property fot the value "Select" in the ddl. I have used javascript for this purpose. but not working. My code look like this.
I have an AJAX enabled ASP.Net 3.5 app in which I have:
A Master PageA Web Content PageA User ControlMore precisely, there's a Placeholder control in the Web Content Page into which one of many User Controls are loaded (one at a time or none at all).
The basic User Control I'm working with has a bunch of Labels and one DropDown ListBox. The latter control is a date selector - ie. June 2010, May 2010, April 2010, etc. When the user changes the date, since AutoPostBack = true for the control, a PostBack occurs. But when this happens, the User Control disappears!
All I want is for a partial postback to occur so that I can use the new date to repopulate the various Label controls. I even put the Placerholder control in its own UpdatePanel but this didn't resolve anything - the User Control still disappeared.
I have a master page which contains a Login control so that the user can login/logout from any page. However, a couple of content pages require a Recaptcha control. This causes problems because when I try and log in on a page that has the Recaptcha control, the system expects me to enter the words. I'm aware of the lack of validation groups in the Recaptcha control, and the fact that you can't have multiple forms on an ASP.NET page. Is there a way to work around this? A 'hacky' way I can think of, is in the "Login" event, check the page for a Recaptcha control. If one exists, then disable it, otherwise continue. However, that just seems quite inefficient especially when there are quite a few pages and most won't have a Recaptcha control.
This is an ASP.NET 3.5 app. The page has the following controls in this order: GridView with Select button enabled UpdatePanel, which containsA trigger pointing to the SelectedIndexChanged event of the GridView A child DetailsView that displays the record of the selected item in the GridViewUpdateProgressSelecting an item in the GridView triggers the UpdatePanel and the record displays in the DetailsView, as expected. However, since the GridView is outside of the UpdatePanel, the UpdateProgress doesn't display while the record is being retrieved. If the GridView is moved inside the UpdatePanel, everything works as expected but for several reasons it needs to be outside of the UpdatePanel for this app.
There are several articles about how to trigger the UpdateProgress display. Most involve using a button, which has an OnClientClick event, that can be used to trigger some javascript to change the display style of the UpdateProgress. Unfortunately, there is no client side event for the GridView so no way to trigger the javascript. Any ideas on how to display the UpdateProgress when a GridView item is selected? Here is a trimmed down version of the controls involved:

Most of the solutions found on the internet and in this forum made use of javascript triggered by a button. Pretty much all of the javascript followed along these lines:
I am having a problem with dropdownlist auto post back set to true...
In my project I have to hide and display two other dropdown lists depends on selected index change of a main dropdown..
I set the auto postback to true and I am hiding and displaying the dropdowns on user selection...Everthing is working fine..
But I am having a very hard time when user types when the dropdown got focus..this is very annoying situation..if type one word its doing a postback and they are unable to type further...
is there any way to fire this onselectedindex change event on blur or on enter key press...is there a way of doing it with java script or jquery...
I have an issue that I've been fighting with for some time. I have a large web form, with update panels and autopostback controls. When the users click "submit", some custom javascript runs which shows validation summaries and turns the fields with errors red, relatively easy, and it works as expected. The problem is that I have a dropdownlist which should autopostback an update panel. It does this perfectly if the user does not click the submit button, and therefore my custom client script dosesn't execute. However, if a user clicks submit, the custom client script executes (turns fields red and shows validation summaries), and then the dropdownlist does NOT autopostback the first time a user changes it's value. If the user changes the dropdownlist's value a second time, then the autopost back occurs and everything functions as it should. I don't understand why the autopostback is disabled for the first click after the javascript executes. Can someone please help me out? The DropDown List looks like:
I have found a couple of good topics here in the forum and wanted to see any other extra ideas for this control that I am making and trying to implement. So here is the basic information:
The control is going to display a SQL output in a bunch of label controls. The information is going to be coming from a gridview control where the field is going to be hyperlinked.
So I am wanting to set the "TargetControlID" property to the .ascx page load event.
now what I have found is that I can simply run the Popup.show(); function in the .cs file at the end of the page load, but I still have to place a valid control within the TargetControlID property. As you know, the property cannot be "null" and if I put in the control ID for something that is not valid, then it won't work either. So the only thing I can think of is tying it back to the overall control itself. Then I can always change it on the fly if needed, but I think I would not have to since it would fire on the page_load event...
Not sure if this is making any sense... Just understand that have to make this control go across several web pages that are already fully developed. I am just adding this in as new functionality...
I have a page that has a few requirements1. A Gridview that is dynamically populated (and refreshed at a regular interval) with a button control that is conditionally displayed 2. The button control should show a ModalPopup of a Panel that serves as a form 3. This Panel form contains a textbox populated with a value from the gridview and another dropdown control I can get 2 of these 3 requirements via a couple of different approaches (like 1+2 work, but 3 fails or 2 +3 work but 1 fails). The code pasted below is the closest I have gotten, and is actually my preferred method, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the ModalPopupTextBox1 is not rendered when ModalPopup button is clicked. If I place the Gridview1 outside of UpdatePanel1 (refresh controlled by Timer1), the ModalPopup Panel works as expectedMarkup: GridUpdate.aspx
I have a textbox txtPctDown inside an update panel. On textchanged, a sub is called that does a calculation and puts the result in to a label in a modal dialog. When the text changes, the sub is reached but the modal dialog doesn't appear. if I eliminate the UpdatePanel then everything works fine. I tried with an without using the textchanged as a trigger.
How do I get the modal dialog to appear when the text changes?
What i did.........Created User Control like One.ascx with one button
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="one.ascx.cs" Inherits="one" %> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text="Hello, this is My First User Control dynamically loaded :)"> </asp:Label><asp:Button ID="btnShow" runat="server" Text="Show" OnClick="btnShow_Click" /> On Code behind public void btnShow_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
[Code] .....
Fail to redirect user to google.com by clicking button which written in .ascx file.
Iam trying to use System.Web.UI.WebControls.Calender. But when I select any date , It post backs automatically. Is there any way to avoid this behavior. (I dont see the usual property AutoPostback which I set to False to avoid this behavior) I need the selected date only once user submits the form. Note- I am using VS2008
I have created a custom control in ASP.net which includes a DropDownList with AutoPostBack set to true. I have also attached an event SelectedIndexChanged for the control. But I find that the event is not fired. Where as normal asp.net DropDownList with AutoPostBack set to true will fire the event. I am using .net 3.5 version in VS2010.
The app is written in c# but i havn't posted any actual code as all the user code related to this markup seems to work fine.
The problem is the CheckBox chkTVLic has causes validation set to false and autopostback set to true. So whatever happens when i check and uncheck the checkbox it should postback. Most of the time this is exactly what it does and the result is to show and hide pnlTVLic when it is checked and unchecked. However if any on the validators within the panel fire, the checkbox does not cause a postback the first time. It will on all subsequent times but never the first. However it should ALWAYS cause a postback. What could be stopping it. Before someone asks there is no use written client side code, everything is pure .net markup and c# code.
I have a single series bar chart created programmatically in codebehind which I would like to display the Y point value (somewhere above the bar, or maybe as a tooltip) when the user hovers their mouse over a bar. Is there a native onmouseover event for the bars of the chart, or is it something that should be added through series.MapAreaAttributes?
Edit After some experimenting I've found the points.tooltip attribute which I can add at the same time I add the point which will do what I want it to do, but it would still be nice to know if you can capture events for the bars, just for future reference.
I have a page books.aspx that has a control named authors.ascx.
Inside the authors control there is a "select" button I want to add some kind of listener or event handler (not sure of the correct terminology) so on the parent page (books.aspx) I can respond to the "select" button being clicked.
I have to pass the authorID from the user control to the parent page.
In my authors.ascx control I just created this event:
[Code]....
Now I need to write the function for SelectAuthorBtnClick and I think add some kind of listener in the parent page to listen and handle the event.
I have a textbox which is read only and there is a calendar besides the textbox. When the user selects the date in the calendar pop up, the text in the textbox is populated but it doesn't trigger the text change event. trigger an event when the text is changed on the textbox?
I have TreeView on a Sharepoint aspx page. The tree is populated dynamically using a Sharepoint list containing a folder-stucture. I would like to handle Select-actions but I am not able to.. the SelectedNodeChanged event only seems to occur when I select the outer-most nodes. Minimal example code for the UserControl where the TreeView is located is found below.
If I use an ImageButton or LinkButton, I just noticed that when clicking either, the Page_Load method executes before the method specified in the OnClick. Can this be avoided so that the method in the OnClick is triggered instead of Page_Load?
User double clicks on a grid and a new Window Opens...User enters information and then I am going back and updating parts of the record.Once the code comes back from client-side onDblClick I am expecting the SelectedIndexChanged method to fire (so I can do additional server side processing) but it doesn't. Is there something I am missing?Right now my onDblClick event looks as followed:
I have an html button that makes a certain action and i have two "asp:textbox"I want the html button to be triggered when the ENTER key is pressed on keyboard.
I have created a form with several textboxes and a dropdown list and assigned a required field validator to each of them. I also have a master page with several links to other pages, some made using <a href=..> and some linkbuttons. The problem I am having is that when I click the linkbutton links they do not redirect to the proper page, rather they trigger the validators for all textbox fields and display the validator characters next to each textbox (and the dropdown). When I fill out the form, those links redirect properly. The links created using <a href=..> do not cause this problem.
