I have what I hope is a simple question:
I have an image that says login. When a user logs in and is a valid user I want this image to change to a different image.
How can I do this?
My original image is placed within my masterpage.

I have tried different ways but I can't get it to work (as you can see in my commented code). I am having trouble on the saving it to the database process, displaying it isn't a problem (when I had valid images)

I have implemented the following functionality that connects to webservice and downloads a favicon from a given site and saves it to a byte[] which I store in our database. I now want to set it up so that it saves the icon to the disk. However I am getting a "Parameter is not valid" when I try and create the image from the byte[].My code is as follows..

The exception occurs on the middle line. This code works perfectly 9 times out of ten, but for some favicons, even thought the icon is a valid image (or at least it appears to be and it shows in the browser when point at it) I get this exception. Does anyone have any ideas? I am pulling my hair out here!

I am a newbie and using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition developing a website with some SQL database and a membership folder.
The membership folder security was set via Website/ASP.NET Configuration and with Permission Deny for Anonymous users, and a user id and password was created.
However when running the website and login with the created userid and password, it failed to log in with error message "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again." I suspect that the system could not find the ASPNETDB.MDF even though it is in the App_Data folder.
I have separately developed another website with Membership and User Login by following the example in ASP.NET Walkthrough in Learn Web Devbelopment, and it works ok.
I cache information about the currently logged in user in the session. This info lazy loads whenever a CurrentUser property on my global application class is used. It does this by calling GetUser() on my custom implementation of MembershipProvider, which either loads the user up from the session, or loads the user from the DB and throws the user object in the session.
How should I handle this scenario?
User logs in. Administrator deletes user (or deactivates...the point is they can't log in any more). User's session expires. User navigates to a page or makes a request, or whatever.
Currently if this scenario occurs, NullReferenceExceptions are thrown all over the place, because the ASP .NET framework calls GetUser() which returns nothing because it can't find the user in the database (and there's nothing in the session because it expired).
A question has been raised concerning password recovery revealing valid user ids. Stage 1 of the password recovery asks for a userid and when progressing to stage 2 will display an error message 'Invalid user id'. In theory this would allow valid user id'sto be identified.Is there a setting we are missing? Something that would allow the user id and question to be asked, then a message saying the 'User/Question combination is invalid'.

my app gets data from sql server using windows authentication but when i create a virtual directly as part of the deployment, the user that tries to authenticate against sql server is ASPNET rather than the windows user as a result authentication fails. I change the "Directory Security" setting in virtual directory properties to disable Anonymous access and leave Windows authentication checked but no luck.

In my website I have <img src from code behind (created the whole table and css in the code behind). So for an image I added as <img src='../combox/img/products/prod1.gif">
So when I run this page and see the view source, I get the following path for my image: <img src = "http://localweb1/combox/img/products/prod1.gif">. Here localweb1 is my development server.
But I want to change this "http://localweb1" to "http://www.mypage.com/ so the img src will show as <img src="http://aeroprod.com/combox/img/products/prod1.gif">
How should I do this in my code? Do I have to parse? In this case how do I do it?
I have created an aspx page that is displaying user profiles, and on that page I have an asp.net image control that I dynamically populate at runtime based on the users profile image.
I have created several themes, just modifying css to display the profiles with different background and different layouts.
For fun I have created one theme that is kind of like the matrix, and I would like to be able to take the users profile image and change it to a 'green scale' so to speak, or even just a straight up green color, more so this one #20f380. The profile images are just jpg, and are already cartoonish so they should change to green without the image looking to bad.
Is there a way to use code behind to change an image's colors?
C# or VB is fine, currently I've not been able to find any tutorials that work for me, or are close to what I am trying to do.
is it possible to change attribute values on a non-asp.net controls (like an image)? I can change attributes on buttons and the like, but not on images? btnID.Style.Add("display", "inline") This works for a btn, but if I try to use this code to reference image (or even just try to make the image disappear) - it does not work Further info: I am using this code on a drop down list - basically when the user makes a selection i want to remove an image (make it invisible or visible) or change its display attribute (e.g. to inline). It does work ok for a real btn - but i can't reference an image ID.
