Jun 13, 2012I have a problem with CascadingDropDown... I have two related comboboxes, where the second is a slave of the first (e.g. country the first, cities the second). What I want is that if I select one country from combobox 1 then the second must be "filtered" by that selection (it should display all the cities inside the selected country, and the actual CascadingDropDown implementation is OK), but if I leave the combobox 1 in the default option (e.g. "Please select a country") I want the second to display all the cities I have in the database. The problem is that when selecting default option for combobox 1 the second combobox is disabled and a postback to my webservice never occurs.

And I use this code for binding from database

Here if in database have value it show in ddldistrict
Now I want if there wasn't any thing in database in dropdown list show "select district" that i define here

Mar 6, 2013I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.

It is databound to web.sitemap, but when loading a new page, it does not select the node of the current page, just resets it to the root. THe new page loads fine, just not preserving the current navigation in the tree view.

Choosing value 1 results in a SelectedValue of 1
Choosing value 2 results in a SelectedValue of 2
Choosing value 3 results in a SelectedValue of 2
does the combobox has as a disadvantage that the Text has to be unique?

Jun 10, 2010I have a page that performs a long-running task (10 to 15 seconds) in the page_load method.
I have client-side javascript code that will display a decent "page loading" animated gif to the user.
I am able to invoke the JavaScript method from the code-behind, to display the "page loading" animated gif, however, the long-running task is hanging up the UI such that the animated gif doesn't actually display until after the long-running task is complete, which is the exact opposite of what I want.
To test this out, in my page_load method I make a call to the JavaScript method to display the animated gif. Then, I use Thread.Sleep(10000). What happens is that the animated gif doesn't display until after Thread.Sleep is complete.

Feb 2, 2011I have a problem with the Ajax ComboBox from the Ajax Control ToolKit. When I want to erase the text in the ComboBox, I got this error:
"Microsoft JScript runtime error: '_optionListItems[...].text' is null or not an object". I only get this error when deleting the content of the Combox is the first action I do on the ComboBox. If I overwrite the text by entering something else before deleting this text, I got no error.

Jan 8, 2011I do not even know what to call it, but I would like to add something to show my page is loading. I have not yet figured out why, but sometimes they load almost instantly. And sometimes they take up to 15 seconds, giving the impression that nothing is goingto happen. I see a little clock face ticking on some websites. I don't care what it is, as long as I can suggest that the site visitor be patient

When the SelectedIndexChanged event of the first Combobox fires then the second Combobox will be enabled.
After the event, the second Combobox is enabled but I cannot select the ComboBox item.

First Combo I load in Page_Load Event
I use Server Side code:

There is no problem in loading, but I'm unable to select 2nd combo item.
