Jun 13, 2012I have a problem with CascadingDropDown... I have two related comboboxes, where the second is a slave of the first (e.g. country the first, cities the second). What I want is that if I select one country from combobox 1 then the second must be "filtered" by that selection (it should display all the cities inside the selected country, and the actual CascadingDropDown implementation is OK), but if I leave the combobox 1 in the default option (e.g. "Please select a country") I want the second to display all the cities I have in the database. The problem is that when selecting default option for combobox 1 the second combobox is disabled and a postback to my webservice never occurs.

Nov 17, 2010How do I set the value of a field in a detailsview to the selectedvalue of a gridview on the same page? I am also trying to set today date as value of another field in the detailsview as well as UserID. I wrote the following codebehind for the date setting:

tb.Text=System.DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString();
TextBoxCreDate is a template field in my DetailsView.
Unfortunately, I get a Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Error message.
Forms Data Controls :: Formview Default Insert - Need ReadOnly View
Mar 22, 2010I'm using a formview in Insert mode with an AccessDataSource. I want to switch to readonly mode upon insertion to let the user confirm the input worked, then give them the option to insert a new record. If I set the DefaultMode to Insert, then after the first record is inserted, I get a new blank insertion form (no confirmation). If I set the DefaultMode to ReadOnly, after insertion, I get a blank form (presumably because I am not on the record just inserted).
How do I get the just inserted record to display? If I need to set the ID of the formview to the just inserted record OnInserted, how do I get that given I'm using an AccessDataSource?

Choosing value 2 results in a SelectedValue of 2

does the combobox has as a disadvantage that the Text has to be unique?

Dec 3, 2010I'm try to add a combobox to my form which i have done and populate it with the infomation i need but i want to stop the user from being able to edit the first 5 character in the textbox part of the combo box( 1 is this possible 2 am i going about it in the right way).
I have 3 columns fro a db to enter ips ie 123.456.7.89 at the start if each number i want (SE1)(SE2)(SE3) which i can do at the momment . So I get in the combobox list 3 items with (SE1)123.456.7.89 OR just (SE1) depending of i a result is returned from the DB. However i don't want the user to be able to edit out the (SE?) part of the sting in the textbox. When editing i've tried used the text change event to try and capture the change and make sure the string.length > 5 , but the event does not fire also when i leave the combobox it it adds to the combox list. If I refersh it goes back to how it should be with only the 3 items.

it binding correctly(datasource dynamically binded) and it raises event too while changing index but it is not raising event when we manually clearing the combobox text..if currently combobox having text "ASP" then i manually select that entire text and using del key i am deleting but it is not raising event for me.. when i change index it automatically raising event...i need to raise event while combobox is empty...

FormView Default Value Is Lost After Insert
Apr 21, 2012I have a FormView that is in Insert mode and at page load I assign the current date to a field in the FormView. This works. But after I click Insert, the default date gets cleared out of the FormView and does not come back.I have stepped through the code in debug mode and even though there is a post back and the page load code runs again, the default field is not populated. For one thing, during this postback, the FormView still contains it's field values.
While stepping through in debug mode, the last thing to happen is the InsertTemplate section of the included code, below. After the last text box is referenced within the InsertTemplate, the FormView values go blank and the GridView that it feeds gets a new row. But processing does not come back to the code behine file and the default date field stays blank.I have been trying to find an event that happens after the FormView empites itself of it's values so that I can set the date field the same way I am setting it on page load, but so far nothing works.

I have both of their default values set as (newid()) and (getutcdate()) respectively in SQL server. However, I receive the error when I try and execute the command "Insert Error: column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition". How do I construct my sql insert so my id and timestamp columns use their default values as assigned in sql server?

How To Specify A Default Value For A Field In A .NET Details View Insert Mode
Jul 7, 2010.NET newbie. I know there has to be a way to do this.I have a details view with it's default mode set to Insert. This is to be used as a form for users to enter records into a database. For two of the fields, I want to pre-populate the field with information. Specifically, I have a vb script with a few functions to query Active Directory to return the user's name based upon their user id. This script works fine.I call the functions for the user name like this:

Apr 18, 2010I have a web project with more than 100 input boxes , so in every INSERT and UPDATE to sql server in front of sql statement I must put the golden N word, so it will be in UNICODE mode. Do we have some alternative of this? How can i make it in EVERY UPDATE and INSERT to sql server in data layer level- make it like u insert UNICODE (without N word) How can you get MSSQL server to accept Unicode data by default into a VARCHAR or NVARCHAR column?
I know that you can do it by placing a N in front of the string to be placed in the field but to by quite honest this seems a bit archaic in 2008 and particuarily with using SQL Server 2005. Example:
