I wish to return the following output
<a href="#"><img src="/images/icons/tick.png" alt="" />More info</a>
If i do the following the content is html encoded.

How can i disable the html encoding?

I have an ASP.NET repeater pulling comment data from a database. In my ItemTemplate I placed some Label server controls bound to the fields (username of poster, date, and post text), but apparently Label does not run the data through HtmlEncode before displaying it. Is there another control I should use? How should I display HTML-encoded data from a repeater?

I've recently upgraded a client's web site to .NET 4 and we've found out during the process that now GridView column values are automatically HTML encoded.
They have wide use of HTML strings in their code so we must turn that off. I know one solution would go over each column and add HtmlEncode="false". My question is - is there a way to set this to be the default for all GridView columns in this application?

I have a HyperLink on my usercontrol in which I set onlick event dynamically on the server side like this:
this.Attributes["onclick"] = string.Format("javascript:alert('{0}')", base.NavigateUrl);
The problem is that when Asp.net renders the page, it ends up with something like this
<a href='...' onclick="javascript:alert('TEST')>LINK</a>
which obviously is not valid Javascript. Using " instead of ' wouldn't help neither, the generated HTML is alert("TEST")

I have an asp.net / C# page which takes a comment, and then emails that comment. Sometimes when the user enters "&" in the comment, the comment is being truncated. So for example if the comment is "test & test" the email only sends out "test ".
I have tried HttpUtility.HtmlEncode - but it looks like the issue is on the outlook side and not on the C# side.

I have a GridView bound to a DataTable that I construct. Most columns in the table contain the raw HTML for a hypelinklink, and I would like that HTML to render as a link in the browser, but the GridView is automatically encoding the HTML, so it renders as markup.
How can I avoid this without explicitly adding HyperLink, or any other, columns?

It's great that Razor HTML encodes by default. However, many times I have HTML in a database and want to display it literally on a page. In WebForms 4, we can use <%= %> and <%: %> to choose between encoding options. Raven's syntax is currently @(new HtmlString(Model.Greeting)).
add a shorter syntax to Razor. Something like @=Model.Greeting or @@Model.Greeting, or something else.

I have written a web mailer that can send and receive emails and display them on a webpage.I have a problem displaying special characters though. Like Russian, and Greek and chinese.I am using openpop.net and I can get the encoding of the incoming email as one of my variables.Thing is, how do I display it? Do I set the content encoding of the whole page to what that specific email encoding is?I've got it UTF-8 at the moment and I get garbage.

Im pulling out a text field from the database which has and 's in it for line breaks. Which I have left there for pupose of being able to edit the fields later on.
So when i try to display the text I need to replace them which I have done with:
[Code]....
Simple enough. Only when I run the page the source code I get for it is:
<br />
So it seems its not encoding the < as a encode but into the form <
Does anyone know how to stop this happen. Or a method around it?

I have an Objectdatasource configured with Select, Insert, Update & Delete queries in a Dataset. This datasource is linked to my Gridview. I do not require all fields in the table to be displayed or updated in my grid so i have turned off the Visible property on several.
However, when i go into Edit mode and trigger the UPDATE to the database table, i get NULL values updated in the columns i set False for the Visible property.
How can i remove these columns from the GridView and the Edit mode and still have them UPDATE with their current values instead of being overwritten with NULL's?

FYI I am using .NET 4.0 / MVC 3. In my controller, the following is my code:
[HttpPost]
[ValidateInput(false)]
public ViewResult Edit(ContentTemplateView contentTemplateView, FormCollection collection)
Everything works fine when I don't enter HTML, so I know the proper controller is being fired. Also, I have following set properly in my web.config files:
<httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0"/>
I only get this problem when I include the FormCollection (which is needed for this particular Controller). So what exactly am I doing wrong? [I have done what was proposed on the following questions, and they work as long as there is no FormCollection. None of them offer a solution with an included FormCollection] Why is ValidateInput(False) not working? Asp.Net MVC Input Validation still firing after being disabled ValidateInput Attribute Doesn't Seem To Work in ASP.NET MVC

I have been googling/SO:ing this issue for a while and many seem to be sharing this, but I haven't found any successful solution to my problem.
Using MVC3 and Razor.
Master page contains:
<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-1.5.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>
AjaxTest.cshtml contains:
<div id="AjaxTestDiv">content</div>
@Ajax.ActionLink("Update", "AjaxTester", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "AjaxTestDiv" })
AjaxTester action method:
public string AjaxTester()
{
if (Request.IsAjaxRequest())
{
return DateTime.Now.ToString();
}
else
{
return "FAIL";
}
}
I always get the "FAIL" returned, to a blank page, not in the targeted div.
Edit: Also note that if I remove the if (Request.IsAjaxRequest()), I still don't get back anything to the targeted div, but instead a blank page.
Edit2: Looking at the HTML generated, this is my link:
<a data-ajax="true" data-ajax-method="POST" data-ajax-mode="replace"
data-ajax-update="#AjaxTestDiv" href="/Area/AjaxTester">Update</a>
Have tried switching the method to GET, to no avail.

I have a aspx page with two linkbuttons and a usercontrol. One is used to save and one to cancel.
But even though I add CausesValidation="false" on the cancel linkbutton it still validate the the validationcontrols in the user control.
But if I add a dummy linkbutton inside the user control that has CausesValidation="false" it works and postback without validating.
Why can't I have the link buttons outside the user control?

I have a comment form inside the blog posts. in the form, if the user is authenticated, I will assign the values of the user into textboxes. that part is as follows;
[Code]....
But when I add HTML.TextBox instead of HTML.TextBoxFor, I am not getting validation if the user erase the fileds. Also, this form is inside the indext page and it is related to another action as follows;
[Code]....
so I cannot assign ModelState.AddModelError from controller.
What should I do here.

So on my journey to become better at asp.net I've encountered a problem. I'm working on a login. I added some Style to it by adding a CSS file and after some time I made it look a lot better. Thereafter I added Asp authentication forms - which actually works great aswell except that if you're not logged in the CSS is not used. Once I've logged in and recieved a cookie I can go back to the login page and everything looks nice. But as long as I haven't "logged in" the page looks as if no CSS is used.

I had used Custom error page in my asp.net application to redirect when I type a non-existing page while browsing that application.
I checked the list below
http://aspnetresources.com/articles/CustomErrorPages
by this I am able to redirect to Custom error page when I type a non-existing .aspx page.In the link it is explained to do one setting of adding .html extension link in IIS with "aspnet_isapi.dll" path. I did that setting even then the Custom error page for non-existing ".html" or ".htm" files is not working.

Can someone lead me to understanding when to set the encoding for the email step when sending new member emails. For instance what is the default or how can I tell what it is or if I want to set it in the SendMail event in code. See the thing I am wondering is when is it applied? If I set the MailDefinition-From in the html part then in code using the SendMail event set the encoding using
e.Message.From = new
MailAddress("foo@bar.com","foo",System.Text.Encoding.UTF8);
then I assume that it must actually get applied when the email is sent. Is that correct?
