Oct 28, 2010Using VB, VS2010, I have a large image in a panel and want to be able to pop-up panels while hovering over it. This one large image is a picture of a lot of components that I woulld like to treat individually when I hover them. I have done this before by placing a transparent button in another panel that is absoultely positioned over the larger one. I have the button transparent with a border that shows up using hover in css. Everything works fine expcept that the panel does not show itself in the right place when viewiing in the browser window. It shows fine in design view, but shifts over while browsing in the browser. I have tried making all panels absolutely positioned. Still a problem. Is there a better way to put a panel over a panel?

May 2, 2010I am using master and content pages on my website and recently after rewriting some code and altering the table layout I am getting an issue when navigating through the pages. The problem being encountered is the random movement of text at the top of a table (two different words Scottish Premier & English Premier) , I changed them to labelsand still experience the same problems (intermittently). I cannot see any reason for the elements moving and it detracts from the visual layout on the screen. The problem occurs in both IE 8 and Firefox. The respective text/labels are on the masterpage
Is there anything I can do to track down the reason why it is happening? Why will a page render correctly sometimes and not others?I have copied the masterpage and one of the content pages to a different web address for anyone that wants to view the problem. (None of the buttons will function correctly however navigating to an invalid page then using browser "back" will on occasion display the problem with the Scottish Premier & English Premier label (They remain as labels for the time being)Here is the link to the cut-down version of the website:[URL]Below are two images, one is the correct layout, the other shows the labels that moved.

Jun 1, 2010I am creating a user control to serve as a multi select, multi column drop down. i.e more than one items can be selected. To achieve this, I used GridView control to dispay multiple columns when user clilck on image of drop down, first column containing CheckBox to select multiple rows. I have registered mouseout event handler for GridView control, to hide GridView when mouse leaves GridView area.
But mouseout event is going to be fired even mouse pointer moves from one row to another row. I have seen HTML in browser, mouseout is registerd in table rather than each row.

Feb 3, 2011I am using a MultiView control inside a FormView to break my form into more manageable sections for the end-user. I am trying to make it so that each time the Next button is clicked, the entire form is validated and a list of the fields that have not yet been completed show up in the Validation Summary.
I would like my users to be able to continue through the MultiView 'wizard' even if they haven't completed all the fields -- they should be able to come back to them later. But I would like the ValidationSummary to display the fields they've not completed that are required as a reminder of what to come back to if possible.
I've tried playing around with Page.IsValid with no success.

Sep 21, 2010I am trying to figure out how to get fresh photo album. I am able to upload pictures to the database and display them(using handler & listview), but when I go to create a new album it shows the previously uploaded pictures of the first one. In the database it shows a new ImageAlbumID so it is creating a new album, but just shows the old pictures of previously created albums. I want just a blank page with the AjaxUploader. the code:

Jan 4, 2010In Firefox (3.5 or 3.0), AJAX toolkit modal popups move just before a redirect.It's as if the positioning css is ignored. The rest of the css appears to be honoured i.e. the popup appearance doesn't change but it jumps to the top left-hand corner.
The test code below reproduces the issue. It only happens in Firefox. I am going to try to work around it by implementing client-side-popup-hiding measures but I would still like to know why it is happening.

Jul 20, 2010The menu control when used on the newly released VS2010 with ASP.Net version 4.0 renders vertically briefly, then renders horizontally. This causes a 1/2 second annoying flash of the menu in vertical form before it disappears and renders horizontally as intended. If you choose to render the menu as a table this problem doesn't happen, but if you choose to render the menu as a list (using <ul><li>) then if happens every time, but is hidden on development systems where response is quick enough such that the rendering vertically is not visible to the naked eye. How can I cause the rendering to be horizontal (without the brief vertical rendering)?

Jan 21, 2010Ok this is a bit weird. If I run this on my machine using IE everything looks fine. If I publish to my server and run using same machine and same browser my multiline textboxes show for a split second correctly then they scroll horizontally and get all messed up? Why are the scrolling horizontally and why do they look fine locally?
