Oct 12, 2010I have very basic knowledge of ASP.net. I am using following script to resize and image, but the problem is it increases the disk volume of resized image to almost 4 times or original image.
Example:
Original Image: 1024 x 769px and Disk space: 135 KB
Resized Image: 600 x 380px and Disk space: 825KB
Notice resized image becomes 825KB.

Apr 20, 2010I've basically got 2 applications. One is my back office application (Admin) and the other , the front end application (web site)
My problem is that, the admin uploads 'n' number of photos ,which is stored in one of the folders within my back office application and the path is stored in my DB as , for example : ~/Uploads/test.jpg.
But it is not possible for me to access this image from my front end application because the path actually exists in my back office app. How do i get to view the images that I uploaded on my front end Appn. ?

Internet Explorer - LinkButton Tooltip Gets Overriden By Image Alternate Text?
Aug 27, 2010I'm using a lot of LinkButtons in my web application with text and images inside them. All LinkButtons are set with a ToolTip and all images inside the LinkButtons are set with an alternate text.

The problem is that in Internet Explorer the alternate text of the image is shown instead of the ToolTip of the LinkButton. In Firefox this problem doesn't exists, it always show the ToolTip of the LinkButton.
This is the produced XHTML:

Is it possible to overcome this issue? Removing all alternate texts will resolve the issue but a better (more standard) way is always welcome!

Hope there is some solution without adding empty rows at the end of the datasoure which will create problems while sorting the grids.

May 14, 2010I'm trying to figure out some alternate ways of dealing with a smaller subsets of records from a larger set of records. This would be to increase performance and make it easier for the user to navigate, as opposed to trying to navigate a really large unwieldy record set. I know of a few ways a user can select a record from a record set. Selecting from a Grid View, drop down list, list box are some the first ones that come to mind. Another way I've seen, I think it was done with a repeater or User Control, is to list all of the letters in the alphabet as links and then only return the records that correspond to the letter that was selected.
It could also be done to allow the user to search by last name, first letter of the last name or some other similar method. I'm curious if there are any other ways of doing this. Does anyone know any other techniques that would create a better user experience when selecting a record or subset of records from a large record set?

In My code behind I want to provide the SiteMapProvider instead of having it hard coded from the aspx page. What would the code look like to replace in thie case 'SpanishSiteMap' and have that come from code behind in c#? I thought something like this but i know this is way off. hopefully someone has a one liner code that will give provide some sleep.
