Let's say I have a dataset in an ASP.NET website (.NET 3.5) with 5 tables, each has roughly 30,000 rows and an average of 12 columns. I want to insert all of the data from the dataset into 5 very-similar-but-not-quite-identical tables in SQL Server 2008. I also want to use LINQ (personal preference - trying to learn something new).
Is it as simple as iterating through the dataset and, for each row, creating a new instance of the associated class, initializing its data with the dataset's row, adding it to the data model, and then doing one giant SubmitChanges at the end?
Are there better ways of doing this with LINQ? Or is this the de-facto standard?
I am using DataAdapter.FillSchema to create shema of tables in DataSet. I created DataRelation on columns T1id in both tables.
Now when i try to Update Sql Database T1id in Table2 remains 0 and not the value of T1id in Table1.
I can successfully update Sql Database if i fill DataSet with records first (Using DataAdapter.Fill), but that's not what i want to do. I don't need "old" records in my dataset. I want to use dataset just to store all imputs from user until the proccess is done and then insert all those records "at the same time".
But the result is it only insert the first row of the HQDS dataset...then it will give this error :"Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_BRANCH'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object dbo.TS_BRANCH'.The statement has been terminated.
If I comment this line : Destadapter.Fill(HQds, "Testresult")
It doesn't give any error and also it doesn't insert anything to the database.
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_TS_BRANCH'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.TS_BRANCH'.
I am trying to insert a UserID column into a database table during membership creation. I have my tables set up in a dataset with the stored procedure in there. Now I am trying to call that stored procedure in the newuserwizard code and I it is not recognizing the stored procedure. I know it is because my dataset is not referenced in the newuserwizard code. Here is the code I am using:
[Code]....
The name of the stored procedure is "InsertUserID". I think I need to create a function that references the ataset but I am not sure how to do this..
I `m working in aprojct taht read Excel files then insert tables from excel files to dataset then display these tables into Gridview , All these ok with me
The problem here is
How to insert updated data from gridview to dataset again?
I search for it more & more but i didn`t find any thing to do it
I am busy building a shopping cart with cookies. I have datalist which I populate from the cookies with a delete button next to each cookie
[Code]....
Now the problem is that when I hit the delete / remove button to expire the cookie, what happens when repopulating the datalist is that it shows the original cookie with all it's values as well as a new entry where all the values are blank.
I want to change the value in a cookie: HttpCookie hc = new HttpCookie("HiddenColumns"); hc.Value = customView.HiddenFields; hc.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddDays(365); Response.SetCookie(hc);
I'm trying to use a webservice that first expects the clients to login, to retrieve a cookie to re-use. This is done through a login(string user, string pass) method on the webservice.
Doing this through a browser works fine, we get a cookie, and we can see the cookie via Fiddler or whatvever proxysniff thingy.
Time to do the same in ASP.Net, so we use the WSDL and generate a nice proxy class, and it works fine to call the login() method, but Never Ever does a cookie get set !
I already used the "cookiejar" technique - which means i create an instance of a CookieContainer and assign it to the proxyclass like this;
i have 103 column in database 1 column is id, 1 is user ,1 datetime, 100 button on webpage 1 textbox to input value , button1 clicked then value in textbox will insert into database with user:=user.identity.nam datetime=datetime.now colum4 will get value from textbox......button2 for colum2 and buton100 for column100, if i use dataset i need 100 datataset, some other way to solve it ??
I am a bit baffled here; using IE7, ASP.NET 2.0 and Cassini (the VS built-in web server; although the same thing seems to be true for "real" applications deployed in IIS) I am looking for the session-id-cookie. My test page shows a session id (by printing out Session.SessionId) and Response.Cookies.Keys contains ASP.NET_SessionId. So far so good.
But I cannot find the cookie in IEs cookie-store! Nor does "remove all cookies" reset the session (as it does in FF)... So where - I am tempted to write that four letter word - does IE store that bloody cookie? Or am I missing something? By the way there is no hidden field with a session id either, as far as I can see. If I check in FF there is a cookie called ASP.NET_SessionId as I would expect. And as mentioned above deleting that cookie does start a new session; as I would expect.
Codebehind: creating dataset, getting data from sql with adaptor and filling into dataset object, then setting detailsview's datasource. I add 2 button to above template to able to edit data at asp page, and added event handlers:buttons:
[Code]....
My question is, what to do inside the detailsview update event function to able to edit and update data. My method can be wrong too.
In my project I work with Entity Framework (LINQ to ENTITY). I only have ADO.NET Entity Data Model and a DAL (Data Access Layer). I also get the data due a WCFClientService. I have a gridview that needed to be exported in Excel.
FlexCel is a tool for generating Excel files based on a template. The only thing I see in demo's is that they work with DataSets.
Is there a way to convert the data in my gridview to a virtual DataSet?
I've written the following method to get the data:
Till now I used to design RDLC file before and assigned typed dataset table columns.Report processing mode is local. But now my stored procedure returns different columns based on condition i.e columns are not fixed every time. Now I need to add that columns to typed dataset and dataset is assigned to RDLC file. So dataset and RDLC files are create dynamically based on stored procedure result set columns.
What I am thinking is this? Is it possible for me to upload the data from an excel file to dataset of my application first, so that the user can view the data in a gridview to review it first, before the user strike the save button, to save it in the database. So, that in case there is a problem, the gridview will high light all the data with an error. So the user can easily pull out the excel and correct the data before saving it in the database.
how do i copy required row in dataset to a new dataset. i have bind a xml into a dataset and i need to display say row 3 to 5 only so i do a for loop but i have encounter problem when trying to copy the rows to a new dataset.
do i have to write the xml to datatable and bind it to dataset and from there copy over ?
I use GridView & FormView to update a record. but when I click the "save" button, throw an except : FormView must be in the insert mode to insert a record. The record has been updated success, and I didn't change the mode of the FormView, how this error comes?
In my detailsview, I have an emptydatatemplate set up to allow users to enter new records. The code works. However, once the record is inserted, the detailsview defaults to a standard insert screen. I know this will cause confusion for the users. I would prefer the detailsview to either show in edit mode or a read-only mode. I have used detailsview.changemode and detailsview.currentmode in the custom sub created for the add new button of the emptydatatemplate- neither of which do what I was hoping. It would be even better if when there was no data, it defaulted to the insert screen (which seems like that should be an easy, no-brainer way for .net to function) but it doesn't. Or, I don't know how to accomplish it.
I don't want to force the user to click cancel after inserting an item through the emptydatatemplate just to be able to use the detailsview for other records.
I have grid view in ASP.Net 3.5. I need to add multiple blank rows in a gridview and then have to save them in database. How can I do that in most simplest way?
I am using Visual studio 2010 express and I have a details view databinded to an sql database table. When I use the Insert option on the view it causes an error due to it trying to insert a null into the primary key field. If the Insert function does not create a new primary key entry how is it created?
