Web Forms :: Show Label When Validation Controls Fires?
Mar 23, 2010
I have a long form having bunch of textboxes with validation controls. Submit button is on last of the page. for clicking submit button user needs to scroll to down the page. After clicking submit button, If any validation control fires. user is not knowing until he scroll up again. So I kept a lable next to submit button to show, if any validation controls fires. in code behind I wrote code like this
[Code]....
But control is not coming to here after validition control fires. my question is How should I show this lable visible "True" after validation control fires?
I have a required field validator to validate a dropdownlist. this dropdownlist is an autopostback one, and it's causevalidation property is set to be false.the issue is, when I select the default item, the validation message shows, but the still do the postback. And after the postback, the message disappers.here is the snippet of codes:
Trying to use BlockUI and asp.net validation groups on a page but the validators are not fired. How to check which control fired the event and fire the validation group of that event inside jquery ?Here is the script file.
Sys.Application.add_init(function() { // Allows the div.blockMsg style in CSS to // override BlockUI's defaults. $.blockUI.defaults.css = {}; [code].....
This is something thats been bugging me for a while. I can't even remember if I fixed this before or not. What I'm trying to do is display a single error message for all validation controls on my page. I think this is possible if you write your own javascript function for a Custom Control, hiding the error message, and displaying it on a single control. Writting all the javascript for this and then refering to the control with "GetElementByID". But can I use controls like RequiredFieldValidator, and make them display messages on one single control without having to write javascript for each one of them? One single message on one single literal or label or whatever, at the bottom of the page, that says "fill in the compulsary fields" or something similar. I find it very annoying having a list of validators underneath each other with different messages.
This should be simple but I am baffled. I have a perfectly functioning DataGrid that I can click its "Select" link to select any one of its rows. When I do, the row highlights itself in red as expected. So far, so good.I also have an independent Label on the same page and I want to update its Text value to a cell value from the DataGrid when I select a specific row.OTH the DataGrid (named GridView1) and the Label (named Label2) are within an UpdatePanel.PROBLEM: When I select a row from the DataGrid, the Label is not updated with the cell's contents. It simply retains its original default Text value. Here is my code:
[Code]....
This code was from the MSDN site, but nothing seems to happen when I select rows within the GridView.
i have email address and confirm email address in my web application. i have following three validation controls in confirm email.
1.required 2.regular expression : for validating valid email address 3.compare validation :to compare both email and confirm email is same.
in the UI i am entering following values
email :myname@domain.com confirm:mynamedomain.com
it shows two error message in confirm email address 1. email address is not match and 1. invalid email address, when i enter details as above.what ever it shows is correct only. but we need to show error message one by one. first it needs to validate format of email and then it needs to show email address not match.is there any way to achieve this.
I have an update panel which contains a number of controls. The update panel is triggered by the OnSelectedIndexChanged event of a dropdownlist called: ddlUSCitizenshipStatus. It works as expected when I selected a new item.
However, if I leave ddlUSCitizenshipStatus with the default value, and then click "submit" button on the page, the requiredfieldvalidators say there is an error on ddlUSCitizenshipStatus (which it should, as I never selected a value). So I then choose a value, the error message goes away on ddlUSCitizenshipStatus, however the updatepanel does not refresh. I've debugged this locally and the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for ddlUSCitizenshipStatus does not fire.
If I choose an item in the ddlUSCitizenshipStatus list a second time, the OnSelectedIndexChanged server event fires and the update panel refreshes and works as expected. The issue is, I have to select an item in ddlUSCitizenshipStatus twice, after failed validation, before the updatepanel it's sitting in updates. The submit button on the page looks like this:
[Code]....
If I remove my custom OnClientClick script, making the submit button look like this: [Code]....
The dropdownlist, update panel, and reguiredfieldvalidator all work as expected. However, I need to run that custom "ValidatePage()" script when the button is clicked.Below is what my ValidatePage script looks like. I've been troubleshooting this for more hours than I can count.... I hope someone is able to help me. Please let me know if you can figure out why ddlUSCitizenshipStatus doesn't update the updatepanel until the second click after a failed validation. [Code]....
I have a master gridview that I am populating data to. I am am also counting records of open and closed and I want to display the percentage closed. I am using the following code. It always rounds up. In other words, if the actual calculation shows it to be 0.16 it will always display in the label as 0.2 I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. If I just take two numbers and divide them in the code it displays 0.16676767. Here is the code I am using. The first line is on up in the code but I plugged it here to show you that I am using a session variable to add to as I rip through the code. I have all three of the variables I am placing the session variables in defined as Dim xxxxx as single.
I'm developing a stocks evolution chart with Microsoft Chart Controls and I need to show the initial and final dates on the AxisX labels but I can't do it.
I google and found many solutions like set the properties:
On the sample below the initial date was Jul 26, 2007 and the final was Jul 26, 2010, this is what I need to show on the chart labels, the others dates don't make difference and can be showed in any interval.
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator. Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?
I have got a label that displays the result of the last action (ie "Success - Record Upload") I also have a Validation Summary and when validation fails i want to clear the label so it no longer displays the result of the last action.
How to display validation error in label control(Using Java Script)?, At the time I want to clear in particular Textbox(Which Show this error), and Remaining Textbox data Should not be cleared.
Since I was not able to figure out my previous problem I decided to go ahead and make my own update statements and change the update command on a datasource I have. So I have a few textboxes and whatnot that allow you to change data and then click an update button. When I click that update button the page seems to refresh as if it was updating the record but the data in the boxes reverts back to what it was. I also created a ONUpdated sub and the label text change does not show.
On my webpage i have labels showing data from database. Some values can have html tags in them, example <br>. When showing <br> in a Lable it converts it to next line. What do i need to do to make Label show <br> as "<br>" string?
I have a store procedure. I show the result in the grid view, I would like to know how I can show each fields in the label so I can place them anywhere that I like in the page.
According to code when i click each of these image button some label visibility be true or false i don't have any problem with
1- Imgabout_Click 2- Imgpro_Click there is problem with 3- Imgcontact_Click
When I click on imgcontact_Click it lblcall.Visible = true; and I can see lblcall(this is label) in my page after that i click on Imgpro_Click or -Imgabout_Click when I click these 2 image button lblcall.Visible = false until now every thing work correctly but when i click on imgcontact_Click again it should lblcall.Visible = true again but it didn't
I mean when I click on this image button i can't see lblcall in my page i think it didn't do lblcall.Visible = true it happened when i click this image button for second time why?
I have a form that has several textboxes, I am trying to create a label that shows first and last name that was entered in those textboxes after hitting insert button. The label would say "You have successfully added 'First Name' 'Last Name'"
I'm creating a web site and I have this question, I installed a label with the name Userlbl in the master page, and the idea that I have, is when somebody opens the website, the label shows the computer's user, in my case Welcome: "Charly_csh"
I tried with this code, that I used before in access and it works, when I load the page on the localhost, but when I load on the server, it shows NETWORK SERVICE
I have a label , textbox ,and dropdownlist,in dropdown i have two items Accepted and Not Acceptedif i choose Not accepted it visible the label and textbox in vb.net.
The ValidationSummary panel shows up, even if the validator does not have an 'ErrorMessage'. When I click on Submit with invalid login, the error shows up in summary. That part's fine. When I submit with empty textboxes, it should show only the '*', but it also shows an empty summary panel. How can I prevent this. [Have a css class for .summary, header, summary ul, .summary ul li].
JS:
function validateTextBox(sender, args) { var target = document.getElementById(sender.controltovalidate); var is_valid = target.value != "";
