I have a function that will take a file uploaded by a user of my system and store the contents of the file into a varbinary(max) field in a sql server database. I then display the filename of the file in a data grid for the user to see as a link button. When the user clicks on the link button, I want the file to be read from the database and served out to the user as a prompt to download the file. How can this be accomplished? The upload is fine, it is the download I can't figure out. Here is what I have so far.

I get the download to prompt, but it is showing the name of my .aspx page as the file to be downloaded.
I need to browse excel file and update the neccessary tables based on some ID. It is basically updating employees in bulk.

I have a table named RECIPE which is linked to an other table name RECIPE_STATUS
In RECIPE table I have a field named Status_Id which contains the name of the Status which is fetch from the RECIPE_STATUS table based on this ID.
The RECIPE table sample information are as follow :

The RECIPE_STATUS entries are as follow:

From an ASP.net page I would like that my user is capable of changing the RECIPE_STATUS from a given recipe. For that I have a DataGrid which is bind to the RECIPE table.
But then what I would like is that the STATUS shown to my user to be the name Locked,Running or free depedning on the Id
How can I bound in my Datagrid the Recipe.Status to be bind to RECIPE_STATUS.Id ?
IN addition to that, If my user change the status for a given recipe, it should be properly save.

I have a detailsview on my page binding a table with information about the employees. They can update their information. Some info should be visible but not updateable. I could change the update command not updating but I like the control where I can set the column to read only. In that way the employee will find the data visible and they will see that the field/column cannot be changed. But having the column read only will return a null-value into that column when editing and updating anything. Why is that? Shouldn't it just update it's read only value?

In the webform I have a GridView control which has two bound fields (Item # and Item name) coming from a master table and infront of these two fields I have placed a TEXTBOX control as TEMPLATE FIELD to take any value of particular item. But after filling all the textboxes when i clicked on submit button it loops thru the items and there i need to read the textbox value of that particular item in a variable but unfortunately the value is blank even the data is there. I have the following code to generate table from User inputs for ROWs and COLUMNs and i Have created a new array. I need read the text value from table , convert it to int and save it in the array.

View 4 RepliesSay I have a DetailsView with a bunch of fields, and I want only certain kinds of users to edit a few of them. They're too few to split them into another DetailsView, so what I'm thinking is to find some way to only allow a user to edit them based on some code-behind logic, effectively making them read-only at will.
I feel it's important to mention that the fields are both TemplateFields, not normal BoundFields with ReadOnly properties. For some reason the required functions don't jump at me from reading the documentation. Oh and I need eveyone to see their specific values, I just want to restrict edit access to them.

I use a SqlDataReader to get fron sqlServer a row af a table. This table have a text field where I store a Xml configuration. In one case this Xml grow up to 650Kb. When I get the field from the datareader it cost amost 2 seconds:
