View 1 RepliesI have some code in my vb.net code behind that queries a database, and if there is data, outputs it from the codebehind to a datalist on my asp.net page. In addition to sending the data to the datalist on the page, I need to take the value from "mbillaty" that is returned from the sql query, and have that value be the selected value for a drop down box also on the page. I can get either the datalist to fill, or the selected value for the dropdown box to be selected depending upon which bit of code I place before the other (ARGH), but I can't get them to both work together on the page. What am I doing wrong?

I had used listbox control with multiple selection mode. I stored id with comma delimiter in database.
e.g.

Suppose user select item 2, 4 & 6. So I will store it as a 2,4,6 in database. This will work fine.

I am currently working with a large query of client name, and instead of using a dropdownlist, I have done the follow:
I setup a Textbox for the user to enter some text, and then click the search button. Using a modalpopupextender (AJAX), and panel appears showing a listbox displaying clients that are like the text entered. The user then picks one, hits ok, and the value is returned to the text box.

I have a list box which is populated using a dictioanry. When I iterate throught the selected items using the following code, it always show only the first items as selected - even if the first item is not selected. Have you ever encountered this scenario? This problem occurs when I use dictionary for binding. On the other hand a generic list works fine.

I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:
