WebMatrix :: Programming With WebPages Vs Using As Site Tool
Mar 4, 2011
I'm new here. Noticed that most posts are related to WebMatrix as a tool, not WebMatrix-WebPages programming. Also WebPages does not require WebMatrix at all. Perhaps there's another forum for WebPages, otherwise I would suggest to split this forum into two. WebMatrix | WebPages,
I am trying to publish a sugarcrm site I created in webmatrix to my site hosted on godaddy, however when i go into the publish settings and enter the server info, passwords etc., I can only get the connection to validate for the FTP protocol setting. When i click the button to test and validate the connection for webdeploy instead of ftp, it tries then says connection timed out. How do I get this to work so that I can publish my site on godaddy?
I know that System.Web.WebPages.WebPage has a read-only Model property of type dynamic.
By default this property is null when accessed in a Razor cshtml page. My question is if I want an Mvc-style approach (without using full-fledged Mvc3) how would I set Model to something before the page renders?
is it possible to be able to change the WebSecurity login page ? in the _start.cshtml for exemple ? because sometimes you need to put the login page in another folder or change the name of that page ( if i speak french , i aint gona call my page login). I know i can to a Response.Redirect but it forces me to create fake login pages for nothing.
My hosting company states they support .net and razor. However after uploading my website made with webmatrix and razor *.cshtml pages. When i visit my website all i get is 404.17 error messages. As an testcase i decided to add an standard .aspx page. Visiting that page gives the same 404.17 error message :-( .
According to my webhoster my web.config is wrong. However that one is generated by webmatrix. Besides my *.cshtml *.aspx a lot of files and directories are added to the bin folder. What can i check and what should my hosting provider check. When using the check compatibility the asp.net version is shown as unknown? My hosting provider claims my site is running asp.net 4.0 in integrated mode and that should be enough.
I want to deploy a website in a computer where no webmatrix is installed. What are the requirement to run the website without webmatrix? And how do I configure IIS to run in startup with the site path?
I have designed site for my customer site and this Commercial Loan site for the users who are willing to take a commercial loan.I wan to know what should I do from programming site of view so that when user search it must be there in first 5 link.Site name is http://commercialloans4all.com
Company I work for have a site developed 6-8 years ago by a team that was enthusiastic enough to use their own private PHP-based CMS. I have to put dynamic data from one intranet company database on this site in one week: 2-3 pages. I contacted company site administrator and she showed me administrative part - CMS allows only to insert html blocks & manage site map (site is deployed on machine that is inside company & fully accessible & upgradeable).
I'm not a PHP-guy & I don't want to dive into legacy hardly-who-ever-heard-about CMS engine I also don't want to contact developers team, 'cos I'm not sure they are still present and capable enough to extend this old days site and it'll take too much time anyway. I am about to deploy helper asp.net site on IIS with 2-3 pages required & refer helper site via iframe from present site. New pages will allow to download some dynamic content from present site also. Is it ok and what are the pitfalls with iframe approach?
I work at web design and development Company , we create and managed a lot of web sites , and we usually create FTP and sqlserver backup manually .I want to know the best tools to create backup automatically ( Free or not free)
I have published my site using WebMatrix. In my local folder on my PC I've deleted some unnecessary files. And then published the updated site again. WebMaxtrix never give any indication it is going to delete files that are not found in an UPDATED published site. When browsing to my site and requesing the-supposed-to-be-deleted resources I still get them in my browser.
My boss has it in his head that we need to be monitoring our websites more to see what king of traffic we are getting for but internal and external sites.
I'm learning to use webmatrix via the tutorials on the website. I've had success with all table operations, when only using one table. I'm using the following address to access the site uredi_let_padalce.cshtml?LetId=4 and the is code:
[Code]....
The page works if I write: where LetId=4 instead of @0. But if I leave the variable I get the following error: The column name cannot be resolved to a table. Specify the table to which the column belongs. [ Name of ambiguous column = LetId ] If I specify the table name LetId_PadalecId. LetId=@0, then I get the parameter missing error. How could I tell the server which LetId I want?
I created a database in my local sql server, and ran aspnet_regsql.exe on it, which created all the user and membership tables. However, when I click on the "Asp.Net Configuration" button in VS (2010), it open the Asp.Net Web Site Administration Tool, but with an error that say "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again." (of course there's no "previous page". What is one to do here? My solution consist of several class libraries (domain, contracts, services, etc, etc) and a Asp.net MVC project. In my web (mvc) project's web.config, my connectionstrings looks as follows (just guessing this matters):
i am trynig to connect to sql server 2005 express with Web Site Administration Tool in visual studio 2008 but i got this error in security tab: There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)
i have already checked following links and done all hint but nothing [URL] i have MSSQLSERVER running but i can not run SQLEXPRESS
I try to create a wordpress site from the gallery and I get an error that says that it cannot find database. I dont have mySQL installed. I thought that WebMatrix would download and install it. Does WebMatrix Beta 3 expect MySQL to be installed? And if so, which version?
I would really appriciate if someone could show me example of how to use api webservice of another site and retreive content (or whatever data is returned) and publish that content localy on omy own site. Api webservice I´m planning to use has support for HTTP GET & POST and SOAP 1.1 and 1.2.
I created my site with webmatrix and razor.I tryed searching on the net but I'm having hard time finding relevant content.
I am trying to send an email using the gmail smtp server. I am trying to enter the SMTP settings into the Web Site Admin tool. I have set
Server Name: smtp.gmail.com server port: 587 from: myemail@gmail.com
Sender's User Name: my real gmail username Sender's Password: my real gmail password
I am getting the following error when I try to send an email as a result on using the CreateUserWizard after successfully creating a new user.
Code:
The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. i29sm30127820vcr.12
I am having some major headaches trying to get a Web Dev 2010 and SQL Server Express 2008 R2 to work together. At one point I hade Web Dev Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008 working together just fine, then I upgraded to 2008 Express R2 and have never been able to recover.
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall several times, browsed the forums, watched videos, and while I have picked up a few things, I am still far from being able to get these two apps to work together for basic user authentication.
Here is where I am at. Web Dev Express 2010, .Net 4.0, and SQL Server Express 2008R2 installed. I have ran the .v4 aspnet_regsql.exe app against SQLEXPRESS, but when I bring up the Web Site Admin Tool, it cannot connect.
My machine.config connectin info is: [Code]....
Thinking that I may have some uninstalled connection info causing problems, I reviewed several of the security videos on this site, and decided to attempt to use my own database install rather then the default ASPNETDB.
So I now have 2 Database Engines (SQLEXPRESS and LOC). I created a new databases on LOC, named LOC and AspNetServicesDB. I then created users named LOCADMIN and AspNetServicesUser, made then the owners, and set the default database for eacg.Next I ran aspnet_regsql.exe from the v4.0.30319 folder, connected successfully, and installed the tables under AspNetServicesDB. The new tables (roles, membership, profiles) were installed. I then proceeded to copy the above machine.config connection info to the web.config file, and modified it as Joe Stagner did in this video. My edited web.config info:
[Code]....
Note that password is set to the real password in my config file.
Yet when I bring up the Web Site Administration Tool test the single provider, I get this error:
login control portion of Murach's web dev w/ c# book. According to the books instructions, you create a Login.aspx page, add the login control to the page, and create the users and roles for the directories within the asp.net web site configuration tool. I still do not get prompted for user name and passord to access the pages I want to be secured. Why is this? Isn't the asp.net configuration tool supposed to edit the web.config file? I'm trying to follow the book to the letter and ensure that I am following correctly before posting for answers online. According to the book you do not have to edit anything or write code withing login.aspx page.
I get the following error while running ASP.Net Web site administration tool: ASP.Net Web site administration tool I am using visual web developer 2008 express edition and windows XP pro version 2002 service pack 3. I am following Microsoft Visual web developer 2008 express edition by Eric Griffin and in chapter 4 I need to use the administrator tool to set up passwords.
