WebMatrix :: Deploying To Msdeploy Does Not Support A Proxy Server?
Aug 18, 2010
I am trying to deploy through webmatrix but my system Proxy server configuration is not being used. I assume that webmatrix would detect the proxy server settings and use that for the msdeploy calls under the hood. Can anyone confirm this is a know issue?

I have created "DotNetNuke SQL Database Application" from the WebMatrix Gallery. Now I want to deploy it on the remote server using Web Deploy method. Without selecting SQL database, application is deployed successfully but when I select SQL database it gives following error: Publish : Error - Make sure the database connection string for the server is correct and that you have appropriate permission to access the database. (Web Deploy provider is dbFullSql).

I'm so excited about the webmatrix, because it makes all the works to be easier than ever before, so I make a try, but I met a problem when I deployed the project membership db to remoting host (I chose the cytanium.com), and I had deployed the project files and another database sucessfully, only the membership related database failed, the error message is below:
[Code]....
I thought that the problem source is about the collation of the database, so I change my database collation from "Chinese_PRC_CI_AS" to "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS", but the problem is the same, I had search a lot of articles, but I didn't find a way to resolve this issue.

I struggle with publishing 2 databases from WebMatrix using WebDeploy. On Publish settings screen I specify 2 different connection strings, but on Publish Compatibility screen Database names in both destination connection strings are equal. When I return to settings screen, original value is replaced there as well.
How destination server connection strings are evaluated? Here are connection strings from the root web.config file, which are set by hidden parameters in my parameters.xml:
<connectionStrings>
<add connectionString="Server=(local);Database=xxx;Uid=xxx;Pwd=xxx" name="xxx" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add connectionString="Server=(local);Database=xxx2;Uid=xxx;Pwd=xxx" name="xxx" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

I have a website [URL]. Recently I found out that somebody has set up a reverse proxy with an almost identical url "www.website1.com" in front of my website.
I'm concerned of those users who came to my website through that reverse proxy. Their username and passwords might be logged when they login.
Is there a way for me to have my web server refuse reverse proxy?
For example, I've set up a reverse proxy using squid with the url "www.fakestackoverflow.com" in front of "www.stackoverflow.com". So whenever I type "www.fakestackoverflow.com" in my web browser address bar, I'll be redirected to "www.stackoverflow.com" by the reverse proxy. Then I notice the url in my address bar changed to "www.stackoverflow.com" indicating that I'm no longer going through the reverse proxy.
"www.stackoverflow.com" must've detected that I came to the website from another url and then redirected me to the website through the actual url.

I have started having problems with our asp.net webform applications running behind a proxy since the user base have upgraded to IE7. Some postbacks seem to drop out and at times it is difficult to make controls on a page raise an event. It appears to be intermittant and I have been told there are issues around using IE7 behind a proxy with post requests. Is this the case and what are the options? Rewite in MVC? Does the issue of post requests behind a proxy remain in IE8?

We are using 2 ISA proxy servers in front of our webserver and are getting intermittant Ajax errors in our application.
Our web logs indicate that there are 407 errors occurring during the requests.
When other users hit the webserver directly this issue does not occurr and this is also not an issue in IE8 but is in IE7.
The error dialog has Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException and the details say "error parsing near '<!DOCTYPE html P'

our web application should be hosted under proxy server, for that we had to change our URL to be relative.
we changed all the url's but then we saw that web resources that are embeded in the .net dll's are being written to the page with absolute path, start with "/" for example:
[Code]....
how can we change it? how can we set the web resource to be relative like this "../webresource.axd"

I am trying to make a web request programmatically. When i submit the request through the browser it seems to work fine but when i programmatically submit the request it comes back with this error message "Unable to connect to the remote server"
Below is the code i am using to executing the command,
[Code]....
[Code]....
I assume the reason why i am getting the error message is because the proxy server has not been set programmatically. Can somebody tell me how i can get the proxy server and set it programmatically?

I'm currently developing a web application using SQL Server 2005, ASP.Net MVC, ASP.Net SQL Membership Provider (for authentication and authorisation), and Linq to SQL. Everything works great and is running as planned in the development environment.However, the production environment has a SQL Server 2000 installation, and we are unable to obtain a copy of SQL Server 2000 to use in development.Upon deploying the web application to the the production environment, what options do I have for migrating the database (schema + data) from 2005 to 2000?

the site normally works fine in all popular browsers including firefox, chrome, safari and ie.
but doesn't work in ie 8 when it's redirected via a proxy server and it gives an error saying
"Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near 'DOCTYPE html PUB'."

I've found a Webmatrix help article that says MS Webmatrix "publishes the (SQL Server or MySQL) database by creating scripts that run in a database that has been created for you by your hosting provider." That is wonderful, except I can't get it to work when I'm trying to publish a MySQL database (backing wordpress) through FTP (my hosting provider does not support 'web deploy'). Again, no problem, since it is already documented that " FTP protocols cannot be used to publish MySQL database. " But this does not excuse Webmatrix from generating MySQL database install scripts for me. During the publishing step, no database install script is generated - at least that I can tell - and there is no manual option to create a database export / backup / install script.
In short, as Webmatrix goes, I'm dead in the water trying to get my database uploaded to my hosting provider. Does anyone know the trick to force Webmatrix to create the MySQL database install scripts on my local box? Once created, I can take-over the upload and install process.

I'm wondering if it is possible to include Microsoft.Data.Entity.CTP.dll reference to WebMatrix site and if the Compact edition of the database would support it? I'd kinda love use something like
code-first development in my WebMatrix project. I think is even easier than writing SQL-s into the code...

On the remote web server I have installed the remote service http://x.x.x.x/MsDeployAgentService.If I use the Web Application Project's Publish command in VS2010 I can successfully publish to this remote web server and update a specific IIS website.
What I want to do now is execute this capability from the command line.I am guessing it is two steps. First build the web application project using the relevant build configuration:
msbuild "C:MyApplicationMyWebApplication.csproj"
/T:Package /P:Configuration=Release
Then issue the MsDeploy command to have it publish/sync with the remove IIS server:
msdeploy -verb:sync
-source:package="C:MyApplicationobjReleasePackageMyWebApplication.zip"
-dest:contentPath="My Production Website",
computerName=http://x.x.x.x/MsDeployAgentService,
username=adminuser,password=adminpassword
Unfortunately I get an the error: Error: (10/05/2010 3:52:02 PM) An error occurred when the request was processed on the remote computer.
Error: Source (sitemanifest) and destination (contentPath) are not compatible for the given operation. Error count: 1.
I have tried a number of different combinations for destination provider but no joy .Has anyone managed to replicate VS2010 Web Application Project "One Click" Publish from the command line?
