WebService Remote Invoking Fails / Request Format Is Unrecognized For URL Unexpectedly Ending In '/List'
Jan 11, 2011
I have a web service hosted on a web server, I invoke the web service using jquery ajax.
The service returns results successfully when invoked locally from the server, but it fails when invoked from a remote client machine (not in the same domain).
I see the request fail in the firebug returning error (401 UnAuthorized) and the response has the following error (Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/List').
i have a problem with webservices on my web forms i am loading the latitude and longitude of a certain location from my database here is the code
<WebMethod()> _ Public Function setmylocation(proid As String) As List(Of locsetter) Dim constring As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("blottedConnectionString2").ConnectionString Dim con As New SqlConnection(constring) Using cmd As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand()
I have an inline .asmx file that I'm trying to host on GoDaddy. Because of this, I cannot edit the web.config file :(. Either way, I can access [URL] When I try this, I see the service description page that ASP.NET generates. However, when I try to access the method, I receive the "Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending" error.
I have not changed the .asmx from what Visual Studio generates. I'm simply trying to access [URL] as described here: [URL]
My question is, is there a way that I can host .asmx files on GoDaddy? From my Googling (or Binging) it seems that I need to edit the web.config file to be able to run this service.
have a working ASP.NET 3.5 webservice that accepts standard POST requests using an encoding type of application/x-www-form-urlencoded. I then added a method which needs to accept an uploaded file. We change the encoding type of the request to multipart/form-data so that we can get the file data and now we receive the following error:System.InvalidOperationException: Request format is invalid: multipart/form-data
I am developing a web page using vb.net as my code behind.
i want to send some data in list format to my webservice, through script. So i am using Jquery and Json.
The code is as follows
function update() { var list = new Array(); $("ul").each(function(index, id) { var result = $('#' + id.id).sortable('toArray');
[Code]....
When I am outtin "{}" in data and remove the parameters from the webmethod. then it goes to the function. But when I pass any data it does not goes to the webmethod.
This code works fine when written in C#. But does not work with vb.net as cb.
Is there any problem in passing the data. or is there any other way to pass data in vb.net.
I was testing out my custom error handling specifically around 404s when I came across an intersting problem, which I recreated on a new web application.
Create web application Create a global.asax file Create a new web form - error.aspx - "This is the error page text"
Here's my problem: I have an asp.net app that invokes a java/axis based webservice through a wsdl file provided by my customer. But, as i had no access to this webservice at the dev time, i've created a fake .net based webservice, with the same methods, returning some valid data, so i'd be able to test the integration interface. The problem is, when i add the service reference on my app, pointing to my fake webservice (.net), it's class has a certain name, and when i point it to my customer's wsdl file, it's class has a different name. Generated class name when i add the service reference by:
- .NET fake webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointSoapClient" - wsdl file of the java/axis webservice = "TransferenciaEndpointClient"
I want the class i've created in my fake webservice to keep the same name of the wsdl, when i add the service reference on my app. I tried to add a "web reference" instead of a "service reference", but it did not work. I also tried to change the name of the class on the "Reference.cs" file, it works on my environment, but it doesn't when i put the generated bin on my customer's environment. I'd like to solve this without having to create a java/axis based fake webservice.
I am new to ASP.NET but what i am trying to do is create a webservice (in C#) with a method that basically returns the IIS HTTP 202 Error Code (ACCEPTED) page.Is there any method that would automatically return this? Or would i need to write some sort of code that would cause the error message 202 to display?
I develop an asmx web service (i.e. ASP.NET 2.0). There's a piece of code that may read the contents of the HTTP request (via HttpContext.Current.Request.InputStream) while processing it. I realise that InputStream may only be read once for a request, and I make sure I never try to read it more than once.
The problem seems to be that if InputStream happens to be read during the early stages of the application's lifecycle (e.g. after pskill w3wp, during Application_Start), the HTTP request fails with a HTTP 400 - Bad Request error, with no explanation given, no exception thrown and no entry in the httperr log. If it is read later (e.g. within the web method itself), requests run fine whether InputStream is read or not. Application_Start runs fine if InputStream isn't read.
Is this some sort of ASP.NET bug? IIS bug? Or am I doing something wrong by daring to read InputStream? And if so, is there another way to get a look at the "raw" contents of the request without disturbing the inner workings of IIS/ASP.NET? In short, adding this code within Application_Start is enough to reproduce this error: using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(HttpContext.Current.Request.InputStream))reader.ReadToEnd();
When I am trying to invoke a method using a proxy class i get error
"System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at ..."
I was wondering if it is possible to call a webservice or send a SOAP request using a provided certificate to encrypt my password (my identity) and use another to encrypt/sign a timestamp, service header, & soap body? Does anyone have any material or sample code where I can test encryption and security too? It doesn't have to be my own certificates, I just want to see it work and then I can possibly tailor it to my needs. After the SOAP request, there will be a provided response which I assume I will have to decrypt.
I found this thread, but it doesn't seem to use signatures or an SSL connection. Does VS 2010 have some extra features to help out on this? I believe the SOAP should look like this.
Nested Repeater Issue: Each category list gets populated with the same set of date values rather then being populated with the data associated with that category. Trying to Do: Trying to group FAQ's by category and then list them using the repeaters.
The data is queryed though a business logic layer object that makes a call to the data access layer object. The data access layer object uses linq to sql to return data. There are 3 parameters that are passed into the innerDataSource's ObjectDataSource control to populate the nested repeater control (propID, CatID, isVisible).
With the debugger, the correct data is being returned and written to the nested repeater firing from the nested repeater's ItemDataBound event. Once this event is finished, another event fires and runs the FAQRule object again on the business logic layer which re-populates the nested repeater with the same data for each category. I have 2 repeaters, outerRepater (parent) and innerRepeater(child) with 2 ObjectDataSource controls innerDataSource and outerDataSource. See code below : ASP Page:
While running an app from the server where it is deployed the website works fine, however when trying to access it from a different machine(placed in same network), using the same credentials, it shows that I am not an authenticated user.

I found that the w3wp worker process runs on 32 and msvsmon runs 64.Now the client is a Windows XP x32 with Visual Studio 2008 SP1.either constructing a web application to check the operation of the treatment and get the following error: Unable to start debugging on the web server. I am trying to use curl to access 3rd party webservice, I used the following code which works well if I try it on my own linux server, the data is being sent ok, but the IIS on the 3rd party server returns an error.
$longdata is a long string of data, maybe over 1000 characters long the 3rd party has many working clients with various implementations so the problem is on my side. what do I need to add to the request in order to get this through ?
I have a SQL server in my office. I can connect from my home development workstation website to the remote SQL server with no problems but when I upload the site to the web host and try and use the same SQL server it fails with 'A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible'
I just started using VWD 2010 and I used Copy Web to upload the site to the server. However, whenever I try to upload a new version of a file that I've already uploaded, the upload fails, with this error in the log (as an example):
Copy from 'C:UsersLouDocumentsVisual Studio 2010WebSitesgenusus10 ools' to 'ftp://69.67.214.24/web/tools' started at 10/6/2010 4:00:33 PM.
I am calling a web service via Javascript. I tried it first in a web page that does not have a Masterpage and it worked perfectly. Then I moved everything over to a web page that does use a Masterpage, and I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required" on the javascript statement that calls the web service. My javascript statements look like so:
In IIS I have a virtual directory with only windows authentication enabled. From Javascript I call into a ASMX webservice. From the ASMX webservice I make a call to the SharePoint Search.asmx Webservice. whatever I try I keep getting the followin gerror message:
"The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized"
I use the following code to call the SharePoint webservice
[Code]....
My web.config settings are:
[Code]....
The Sharepoint farm is configured to use NTLM authentication.
Strangely everything works when I am testing in Visual Studio using the builtin webservice, but when I deply to my local IIS or Test Server it breaks.
I've got a web service on a server with valid IP and valid DNS entries. I'm using an asynchronous thread in a WPF .NET application to access methods from that web service. Under normal connection conditions, for almost all users, the connection and method works fine. Under a very specific condition - Verizon Aircard being used to connect, no VPN connection to the company through SSTP, on a PC with Forefront Client Security installed - the web service will return a "HTTP Error 400: Bad Request" error to the user. If the same user on the same PC connect their VPN connection, the method works flawlessly.
how to add web service which is deployed in remote server. externally i unable to access that service..in that remote server only that service will run but we don't have Ms.net Environment to add service to my application in that server. how to add that web service to my application ,not accessig externally that service URl, internally Executing that URl. How can i add that service to my application on my developer PC ?
parsing the HTML from a URL for e.g. www.google.com...Idea is to convert the html to xml and than read and dump the content in the database...Is the approach correct or their a better way to do so?
I have developped an asmx webservice with visual studio and I deploy on IIS 7 which has 3.5 Framework by copying all the files.
When testing it says
Could not load file or 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I don't use [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService] so I don't understand why it tries to load System.Web.Extensions.
Note: I'm not using any other assembly/lib I'm just learning webservice so it's very simple: I create a webservice Test.asmx with one method which uses one class Test.cs within same namespace WebServiceTest. This works locally.
I'm working on an ASP.NET MVC application that uses the Google Maps Geocoding API. In a single batch there may be upto 1000 queries to submit to the Geocoding API, so I'm trying to use a parallel processing approach to imporove performance. The method responsible for starting a process for each core is:
public void GeoCode(Queue<Job> qJobs, bool bolKeepTrying, bool bolSpellCheck, Action<Job, bool, bool> aWorker) { // Get the number of processors, initialize the number of remaining // threads, and set the starting point for the iteration. int intCoreCount = Environment.ProcessorCount; int intRemainingWorkItems = intCoreCount;
[Code]...
This is based on patterns document I found on Microsoft's parallel computing web site. The problem is that the Google API has a limit of 10 QPS (enterprise customer) - which I'm hitting - then I get HTTP 403 error's. Is this a way I can benefit from parallel processing but limit the requests I'm making? I've tried using Thread.Sleep but it doesn't solve the problem.
As I've found here, I can change the webconfig to allow/disallow methods on webservices.
I need only one method to be a GET and for the others it should be a POST, is there a way to configure just one method (or maybe webservice if there is no other way) to accept GET requests? I am on IIS7.
