I am doing developemnt for a web application that uses LINQ to SQL (even though apparently its going to be depreciated soon) and this query always returns 0 results. I have lots of experience with LINQ to SQL and have applied it to the entirety of a huge site; this one query isn't working right though.

so I emailed myself stuff for debugging and sure enough, the parse to datetime and accesssing year worked fine, it grabbed 2010 from the db, month and day as correctly in the DB.the querystrings were in the URL and i verified that they are the values from which there would be many results

In MSAccess:
Should I define them as currency or number?

if I use formatting for the field as {0:C}, it works fine in View mode. However, i am unable to update the field in Edit mode for an amount with decimal places. In Edit mode, I can only enter whole numbers(ex: I can enter 123, but not 1.23).
If I set the ApplyFormattingInEditMode=True, I am unable to save data entered in any format($123.23, 123, 123.23, all of them cause the error).
The error I am getting is "Input string is not in a correct format".

Send Large Amounts Of Email Via C# Web Page?
Dec 6, 2010I have part of a project whereby I need to send 1 to up to 2000 emails from a webpage. One open source bug tracker used a Thread to send emails but it was riddled with bugs. So just want to know if anyone has any ideas of how I can create a procedure that send up to 2000 emails a go?
I was told by one of my colleagues to leave it as one process (normal routine sending one email at a time) as it won't take long to process all the emails anyway. Doesn't seem right and I want to use threading... maybe I like complex routines?

Storing Large Amounts Of Session Data?
Feb 16, 2010Im in the process of developing a web application, and I wish to store a reasonable amount of data for each user.
This data will be accessed each time the page is refreshed.
The only 2 options that I have come up with is:
* Session Data
* Storing the information in a text file with random file names for each person
* Database
The first one I do not really want to use as it would bog down the server - the second one is cumbersome
Is there any other options?
If possible i was thinking using the database, but am hesitant because of the amount of times the accessing of the database would need (every refresh for every user)
I dont want to store the information inside the viewstate (i dont know what MS was thinking when they thought of viewstate)
WCF / ASMX :: Server Rejects Large Amounts Of Data?
Jan 16, 2011I have an asmx web service I am "Upgrading" to WCF. It's function is to pass a DataTable to the Remote Server. It works fine as long as the dataset contains under 20 records(more or less). Anything greater than that returns the error:
The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request
Everything I searched on the web says I need to increase things like maxBufferSize in my Web.Config File, but like so many others, it has produced no results. This seems like it should be a simple fix.
I am using VS 2010 on Windows 7. All Development and debugging is being done on the localhost. What I currently have for my web.Config file is below:

Apr 5, 2010We have a cookie management library that writes a cookie containing some sensitive information, encrypted with Rijndael. The cookie encrypts and decrypts fine in unit tests (using Moq), works fine for MVC web applications, but when called from an ASP.net 2.0 website, the cookie cannot be decrypted. "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed."
We are sure that the cookie value is valid because we tested it 10,000 times with random data in a unit test. There is something about what ASP.NET 2.0 does when it reads and writes the cookie that causes trouble.
Getting Rid Of Extra Padding For RadTab?
Feb 17, 2010I don't know how strong the support of RadControls over here is, but it can't be worse than Telerik(there I'm lucky to get a response in 2-3 days), so I'm going to try here first.
Basically, I'm trying to do custom theming(using just CSS classes) throughout my application, so I tried setting the CSS classes needed on the telerik RadTab controls.
Well, when inspecting it in firebug, it adds an extra like 50 px of padding to each tab, which there seems to be no control over. This is their rendered markup

Now, I know you can't see the style classes, but according to Firebug, every class prefixed with "rts" has the line padding-left: 9px in the style sheet which would of course explain the extra padding problem. (Why do they need all this nesting anyway?!)
Currency Format String Besides "C" / Convert Negative Amounts?
Sep 8, 2010Is there another currency format string besides "C"? "C" seems to convert negative amounts like you'd see on a bank statement (e.g. $-10.67 shows up as ($10.67)). The guy here at work doesn't like to see .00 at the end of money so in a gridview I wrote for him I was just dropped the last three characters after I converted the values to .ToString("C"), but one negative value in the bunch breaks that logic.
