C# - Stop A DateTime Validator From Padding?

Feb 2, 2010

I have a simple validator that should check if the the date format is incorrect. I am doing testing and enter 2/14/201... which gets passed through my validator as 2/14/0201. How do I prevent this and jump to e.IsValid = false;?

protected void rangeVal(object sender, ServerValidateEventArgs e)
{
DateTime dateCheck = txtDate1.Text.Trim();

Compare Validator Datatypecheck For Datetime?

Mar 2, 2013

I have a compare validator datatypecheck that was set up to check the date entered. I am now changing this to check to make sure that the date/time entered is valid. I changed the binding to be the date and time. I am not seeing anything that I need to change on the compare validator.

When I run the program and enter a date and time into the textbox, it is giving me the error that it is an invalid date. What am I missing?

AJAX :: Validator Call Out Works But Doesn't Stop Insert Or Update Form

Feb 3, 2011

I am using Ajax Validator call out extender to validate a web form. The error messages are displayed as expected. But I am able to save the form with data that should not have been entered. For ex: for a number field, I type in "sdsd" and the ajax control displays a pop up displaying the error message "Numbers only allowed"..

but at the same time, I can click on the submit button with the text in the number field... at which time, the web page displays error as I am trying to insert a text in a data type int field. I either have to clear the field on pop up error display or not let the user click submit when ajax validator is active. whats the best way?

Forms Data Controls :: Text Validator Case-sensitive / Change The Server-side validator?

Dec 13, 2010

I have a validator on a textbox that validates against a list to ensure that the user doesn't input the same name. When testing it, if I type in the same name including the same case structure, it returns an error. If I change one letter to a different case, it doesn't return an error but rather my SQL server returns a duplicate error. How do I change the server-side validator so that it picks up duplicate names regardless of case?

Web Forms :: Is Using Both A Required Field Validator And A Compare Validator

Mar 1, 2010

When it comes to field validation, when I use a Compare Validator to make sure a date is a date or a numeric field has a number, I must also use a Required Field Validator to make sure there is something actually enetered. In other words, the Compare Validator allows a blank value even though a blank is not a date or number or whatever.

Is using both a Required Field Validator and a Compare Validator the way to do this or is there some way to make the Compare Validator also require input of some kind?

Web Forms :: UserControl With DateTime Property - Set Markup In Local Datetime Format

Jan 21, 2010

I created a UserControl and added a public DateTime property. I want to set this property in Markup (ie. <cc1:MyControl runat="server" id="MyControl1" DateTimeProp="1/1/2010" /> ) however I live in a place with a dd/mm/yyyy date format so it complains if I set something like "20/1/2010". Is there a way to set markup in my local datetime format or do I have to conform to "mm/dd/yyyy"?

Invalid Padding On 2.0 Cookie, MVC Looks Ok?

Apr 5, 2010

We have a cookie management library that writes a cookie containing some sensitive information, encrypted with Rijndael. The cookie encrypts and decrypts fine in unit tests (using Moq), works fine for MVC web applications, but when called from an ASP.net 2.0 website, the cookie cannot be decrypted. "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed."

We are sure that the cookie value is valid because we tested it 10,000 times with random data in a unit test. There is something about what ASP.NET 2.0 does when it reads and writes the cookie that causes trouble.

Getting Rid Of Extra Padding For RadTab?

Feb 17, 2010

I don't know how strong the support of RadControls over here is, but it can't be worse than Telerik(there I'm lucky to get a response in 2-3 days), so I'm going to try here first.

Basically, I'm trying to do custom theming(using just CSS classes) throughout my application, so I tried setting the CSS classes needed on the telerik RadTab controls.

Well, when inspecting it in firebug, it adds an extra like 50 px of padding to each tab, which there seems to be no control over. This is their rendered markup

<li class="rtsLI rtsFirst">
<a href="#" class="rtsLink ui-state-default"> <!--This is the only place where I can put in my own custom CSS class-->
<span class="rtsOut">
<span class="rtsIn">
<span class="rtsTxt">
Common Application
</span>
</span>
</span>
</a>
</li>

Now, I know you can't see the style classes, but according to Firebug, every class prefixed with "rts" has the line padding-left: 9px in the style sheet which would of course explain the extra padding problem. (Why do they need all this nesting anyway?!)

Does A Custom Validator Have To Be Used With The Validator Callout Extender

Jul 6, 2010

I have a validator callout extender that works, it shows the callout box. But, it does a postback. It didn't do a post back the first time I clicked the button but it did for subsequent times. I read on the AJAX site that a custom validator must be used with this for it to work. I'm currently using this with a required field and regular expression validator. It works, the callout appears, but it doesn't work every time with out the post back.I posted this to see if there is a way to get this to work with a required field and regular expression validator, with out using a custom validator. I'm using the newest release of the toolkit, so I thought the documentation may be old, since the callout is appearing.

MVC :: Nullable DateTime And DatePicker - Dictionary Requires A Non-null Model Item Of Type 'System.DateTime

Apr 1, 2011

I have a problem:

I've created usual Controller and View(Edit view) for editing my Entity (EntityFramework)

Here is view example:

<div class="editor-field">

@Html.EditorFor(model => model.BirthDate)

@Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.BirthDate)

</div>

BirthDate is Nullable<DateTime>

but during loading my View I get this exception

The model item passed into the dictionary is null, but this dictionary requires a non-null model item of type 'System.DateTime'.

That's because of BirthDate is null in database but it is nullable and I expect that it just leaves the filed empty.

And I have Shared EditorTemplate:

@model System.Nullable<System.DateTime>

@if (Model.HasValue)
