what was the coding for .htaccess so that the webpages loads faster ..i have hosted my site on .ixwebhosting.
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C#. I have a gridview and a button to load the data into the gridview in my web application. Below is the code:

The grid is loading very slow with the data, as there as more than 1000 names being filled.
How to improve the performance?
I am investing some time in learning ASP.NET and more specifically ASP.NET MVC and I am curious how it stacks up to the competition. I really like what I am seeing so far with the framework, and I think the icing on the cake would be if it shows rock solid speed like I have seen with some ASP.NET form sites.
Has anyone done or seen fair comparisons or benchmarks? I would be interested to see how ASP.NET MVC stacks up against other solutions such as PHP MVC too.
How to make sql query run faster . Below is my query:
SELECT [FieldValue2] = case isdate(FieldValue2) When '1' then
case isdate(FieldValue4) When '0' then
dbo.GetCountagingDay(FieldValue2, getdate(), '') -1
else
'0'
end
else
'0'
end

I have a gridview which displays data for all employees and their images (stored in database).
The images take more time to render completely when i click sort or paging or reload.
I'm using httphandler to display image as stream.
Is there a way i can speed up this image loading?
i want to know whether views or stored procedures are faster. i am developing application in asp.net with sql server. Which one should i use for good performance of asp.net application.
View 2 Repliesi find a lot of websites that have some parts in the page that uses ajax much more faster than i used to see ajax requests
like changing views using tabs when i click a tab it changes content very fast than i used to in my web applications using Asp.Net and Ajax Control Toolkit
and also a very quick paging in repeaters or grids than i ever developed in my web apps
like this website [URL] i need to know which technology used to achieve this this website is developed using .net

but i need to know is this needs another technology to learn (from where can i learn it)
or is it just asp.net + ajax or whth other technology
is it MVC
also i want to know if MVC is better than asp.net + ajax in concern with performance
Are you experienced with both ASP.NET and WPF coding? If so, I'll be grateful if you'll share your experience, We are estimating a 100-screen WPF project. Our estimation methodology involves characterizing the complexity of each screen. We then apply a standard number for the development time, based on the complexity and the technology. The standard number is based on the developer being good, not a super-star.
For example, here's a screen:

Why does ASP.NET pages render time on Chrome and FF is ~ 3X the render time on IE ??This problem only persist on my local machine, but when published to the real server the complete opposite happens (expected, as FF and Chrome outperform IE).
I tried Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP x86 with FF 3.6, Chrome 9, and IE 8.
Is there any thing I can do on IIS or in the web config to fix this behavior ?
EDIT: In response to the responses an domments:
I don't have these issues when running PHP + apache, or JSP
I noticed this behavior when doing a debugging session in VS or after deploying on IIS
Modifying the hosts file did improve Chrome and FF response time indeed, but still slower than IE !

I am using the tab control and basically I have 4 buttons. Each button will load a seperate ascx control into a brand new tab. After about 4 tabs, since it has to regenerate all 4 tabs, the speed in order to add tabs just becomes too long for my tastes. Is there any way to remedy this and make it go faster?
EDIT2:Using Internet Explorer 7.0 and 8.0
EDIT: Some Code, I store the i in viewstate and loop through this every time for each panel per regeneration
private void BuildNewTab(int i)

View 5 RepliesI'm doing an ajax work where web service will return data and on client side and I am creating html table with data.I am using var (to hold string of generated html code), do string concatenations to generate table, tr and td tags and put data in it. Then I put this html table with data into a div using innerHTML. I am applying inline css in this dynamic html code.
The issue I am facing is the web service will return a huge amount of data. What I tested is even on local machine it took about 10-12 minutes to process (concatenating, creating tags putting data in table, applying css) 10000 rows. Stored procedure just take 3-4 seconds in returning data. how this in-browser processing time can be reduced ? I am doing it for speed in some wrong way ? Or is there some technique for it or some method faster than innerHTML and string concatenations ?
I designed a web page in that i'm getting the query and executing the query, if a single user enters some query then the time won't be a matter, but if more than one person is accessing the webpage, then it will make delays to execute the queries,
how can i improve the performance of this page like making the results to be displayed more faster?
I was having a discussion with a co worker about some controls I implemented. He objected to my use of dynamicly instantiating controls in the code behind, because it will be slower than specifying the control in the markup. I thought he was talking about output cacheing which to my understanding only caches the rendered output of a page not the instantiated Page object. He said no its a different type of caching. Unfortunately he was unable to give me any documentation to backup the claim so I am wondering if anyone here has ever hear of any such type of caching, and if so is there any documentation on it that I can refer to.
View 5 RepliesIn general terms, which way will require more server processing power and which way will return faster queries... if there is even a difference. The client's database is still on the dev MS SQL server but is essentially but the client has decided they want to collect two more fields of information. Both fields are going to be collection text data and probably varchar(300) will be sufficient for the column data types. Would it ultimately be more efficient to
Add two additional columns in the main table so the data is entered directly into each record, or Add an additional table (or two) with a foriegn key to the primary table that holds the info for each new field The SELECT statement for the main table could be modified to either add the new columns (a.NewColumn1 and a.NewColumn2) or it could contain nested SELECT statements that pull in the data from the other tables. Custom daisy-chained Insert or Update statements would be no problem and a cascade Delete relationship would take care of any deletions. I'm just trying to figure out which would be better from a performance standpoint?
When I'm building my web project it takes about 20 seconds to compile. Then when I try to browse to a web page in project, asp.net does its runtime compilation(another 20 seconds). I know I can't escape these steps because thats how asp.net works, just want to see if anyone has some kind of optimization to make these builds faster.
