        I want to be able to take a select statement like: SELECT password FROM table WHERE user_name = @user_name and compare it with what was entered in a form text box. I have tried:
AccessDataSource1.SelectParameters("password").DefaultValue
 = TextBox1.Text
AccessDataSource1.Select() (not sure how this works or what to set it equal to)
I also tried to connect to the database with a basic ADO connection that I got off another forum, with no luck

        I am creating an insert statement in my c# code to insert records to an access database table. I am getting the error copied below using c# code. When I copy the generated insert statement from the console and run this on my access database, it succesfully appends a record in the table.Insert statement generated:

         -7vf- I write a program by c# to check and retrieve data from database
The problrm:I have one table(1), I want to make update for that table(1) that is by compare the one column in table(2) with the right side from one column in table(1), so if there is any similarity it will retrieve the data and if there is no match just it will make the record empty(null) "the data type of retrieving columns: number 'double'", but the problems is:
I try to retrieve 11 columns, 7 of them are empty .the program run with out error ,but it will retrieve some records with full data 11 columns, but some of records has only 5 columns have data and 7 columns are empty (these records when I run the program did not retrive any columns, it give me empty records!!)
this is the code :
while (or.Read())
{ or.GetValues(field); OdbcCommand oc2=null;
 [code]....
I want to retrive all data which are empty or null and all data

        I currently have a datagrid bound to a table with tens of thousands of records. I display the datagrid using the existing asp.net 2.0. I show ten records at a time.
My problem is whenever I try to access the next page, I gets all the records again from the database and then displays the ones that are required. This is slowing down the app. Is there feature within .net 2.0 which will help me optimize this issue? I cant use third party controls or ajax.
UPDATE
I cant use SQL to get 10 records at a time as well. Without changing any existing business logic or data retrieval, I want to do this.

        I have a issue where I am trying to pull some records from an Access 2007 DB that has linked tables from a SQL 2005 Server. When I go to do this the browser IE8 just sits there and does nothing. THe little progress bar at the bottom moves about half way then that is it. It will sit there and show no errors or do anything. I have experience with connecting and manipulating Access and SQL server DB's but not through Access with linked tables from SQL Server. Here is test code below:
[Code]....
This does not produce an error or anything. The browser just sits there and sits there. Is there something I am missing?

        I am using Linq to Sql as my ORM and I have a list of Ids (up to a few thousand) passed into my retriever method, and with that list I want to grab all User records that correspond to those unique Ids. To clarify, imagine I have something like this:
List<IUser> GetUsersForListOfIds(List<int> ids)
{
        using (var db = new UserDataContext(_connectionString))
        {
            var results = (from user in db.UserDtos [code]....
Essentially that gets translated into sql as select * from dbo.Users where userId in ([comma delimmited list of Ids])I'm looking for a more efficient way of doing this. The problem is the in clause in sql seems to take too long (over 30 seconds).

I keep getting this error: Procedure or function 'SP_Search' expects parameter '@SEARCHTYPE', which was not supplied.

        I have created a table in my Oracle database and am trying to add / edit / delete/ query the records. This table already has 4000000 records. Now when I try to query the database, it takes close to 3 minuetes to return records. I have tried creating indexes, but was not successfull so far.
Following is the structure:
User : varchar(20)
Fac : varchar(10)
Prm: varchar(100)
I am using the following code in VS2005:

        In general terms, which way will require more server processing power and which way will return faster queries... if there is even a difference. The client's database is still on the dev MS SQL server but is essentially but the client has decided they want to collect two more fields of information. Both fields are going to be collection text data and probably varchar(300) will be sufficient for the column data types. Would it ultimately be more efficient to
Add two additional columns in the main table so the data is entered directly into each record, or Add an additional table (or two) with a foriegn key to the primary table that holds the info for each new field The SELECT statement for the main table could be modified to either add the new columns (a.NewColumn1 and a.NewColumn2) or it could contain nested SELECT statements that pull in the data from the other tables. Custom daisy-chained Insert or Update statements would be no problem and a cascade Delete relationship would take care of any deletions. I'm just trying to figure out which would be better from a performance standpoint?

        When a user inserts a record it automatically stores the Date and Time that the record was created in column called CreatedDate.
Now what I am looking to do is retrieve the records between two days - which isnt a problem really, I am doing this....
[Code]....
@StartDate and @EndDate come from Calendar selected dates.
@StartTime and @EndTime come from two textboxes.

        The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.
All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.
So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?

        I have a SQL database. I am getting a datatable from SQL. In SQL Query the table is having null values in the output. But when it is coming to the front end, the null values are replaced by empty values.
So in the front end in the datatable i am having empty values in some cells. I am trying to insert this datatable into access. For this i am using following code...
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection = OleConn; // OleConn is the OleDbConnection
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection.Open();
OleAdpData.Update(dtData); // dtData is the datatable
OleAdpData.InsertCommand.Connection.Close();
It is inserting the datatable to access database. But it is inserting the empty spaces as present in the datatable. I want to insert NULL into the cells in access datatable where the cells are empty. Where should i add my logic for this.

        Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with
 IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
