Feb 18, 2010x.Parameters.AddWithValue("@areasexpertise1", FindControl("AreasExpertise1"))
It should find AreasExpertise1 and make a parameter, but does that get the selectedvalue too?

I have a control in a content page that I want to find the width and left attributes of the style. I am trying to find this from Javascript code that exists on the Master Page. How do I do that?
View 1 RepliesWhile it has gnerally been advocated to separate code from mark up and all that, with the razor syntax and webmatrix all that is not valid anymore, I think. WebMatrix encourages code and mark up in the same page! So what is the best practice as far as code and mark up is concerned.
View 6 Replieshow to fix my sql syntax so my code works again, i made a few manual entrys for now to see if I can get them to be displayed: The FriendUserID relates to another UserID in the usertable who has obviously a different picture and information but I dont know how to display to concurrent WallPosting's from different users atm.
my code creates a dynamic div gives the div an ID = to the userid and input the wallpost messgaes named wallpostings, it takes the information stored about the userid and applys the image related to that userid, is there any way this can be changed with sql? or have i went down a one way alley?

I've an ASP.NET application running fine locally, I've published the site and copied all files up to the live server and all is not good.99% of the pages are doing just as they should be, but just two pages are complaining that they can't find the code behind file? The following CLR syntax works fine in my aspx page:
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="Website.MyBasePage`1[HomePageViewModel]" %>
But this C# syntax does not:
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="Website.MyBasePage<HomePageViewModel>" %>
Note, I am not using ASP.NET MVC, but this works fine if using System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<> from ASP.NET MVC.
My MyBasePage looks like this:
public class MyBasePage<TModel> : Page where TModel : class {
public TModel Model
{
get { return (TModel)HttpContext.Current.Items["model"]; }
}
}

I have a Web Site project, and within it I have a user Web Control defined in an ascx file.The control is added to the Site.Master, and it shows up correctly on the page and everything is fine.I need to override some of the control's fields on one of the pages that derive from Site.Master.
// In OnLoad:
MyControlName control = (MyControlName) Page.Master.GetBaseMasterPage().FindControl("controlID"));
The issue is that MyControlName doesn't register as a valid Type on the child page. If I add a second instance of the control to the child page directly, the above works as needed, but if the control isn't placed directly on the page, and instead is only defined in the master page, the type is undefined. The control is not in a namespace, and is defined within the project, so I don't know why it is having such an issue location the appropriate type.If I put a breakpoint in the OnLoad, the type listed for the control is ASP.my_control_name_ascx, but using that does not work either. Why can't the child class reference the correct type? Can I fix this?
For reporting we used report RDLCs and displayed using an ASPX form. We implemented using the route as shown below. This resulted in forcing us to use the page route below and also to use the hyperlink instead of the normal Action Link. The question is how do we convert the asp:hyperlink ASPX syntax to Razor syntax.
//Custom route for reports routes.MapPageRoute( "ReportRoute", // Route name "Reports/{reportname}", // URL "~/Reports/{reportname}.aspx" // File );
<li><asp:HyperLink ID="hypReport" runat="server" NavigateUrl="<%$RouteUrl:routename=ReportRoute,reportname=StaffRpt%>">Staff Report</asp:HyperLink></li>

I am working with a sql server database with about 50 stored procedures. The database and stored procedureswere not created by me. The stored procedures all begin with a number in their name.
Example: 17P_Comsetter
The problem I am having is that if I try and execute the stored procedure at the command line in Query Analyzer,the query analyzer appears not to like that the stored procedure begins with a number. For example:
If I try an run the stored procedure as follows:
EXEC 17P_Comsetter
Then I get the following error message:

I am using SQL server 2005. Does anyone know why I am getting this error message?
