I have a datalist and in its header template I have a linkbutton. In my codebehind file I wrote as I've always written: (LinkButton)(DataList1.FindControl "LinkButton1"))).Enabled = false; but this gives me the error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. How can I access this linkbutton?

I am loading an aspx page into a div using jquery.load(). The aspx page loaded into the div has a datalist. Each datalist item has a linkbutton. My problem is that the linkbutton is not causing a postback though. Strangely, if I change the linkbutton to a button, it does postback. Also, when loading the page normally (not from a jquery.load event), the linkbutton performs correctly. What is it that causes the linkbutton to not cause a postback when loaded this way? And is there a better way to handle this?

Sometimes the descriptions are very long and unorganized so I would like it to show for example 75 characters and then append a '...' to the end of any description greater than 75 characters. Very new to ASP.NET (using C# behind) and am having trouble figuring out the following scenario. I have a DataList that is populated (code below) and wanted each cell to be clickable. When the cell is clicked I wanted to know the unique ID for that cell. In my code behind, my OnClick method looks like this:

However I never get there. It seems as if the linkbutton always refers to some javascript callback function and just reloads my form. Am I using the wrong control for what I want to do? From this click I want to look up more information from the Key (will roll up the datalist or set visible to false, then supply the new data on the same page)DataList:

I have a UpdatePanel which is having a Datalist inside it , and in datalist i have a country dropdownlist whose autopostback = true , now it is causing postback which i want to trigger , but i am unable to set it as AsyncPostBackTrigger inside update panel because update panel won't find the dropdownlist as it is in datalist.

I have created a query in MS Access "zorder: Rnd([MarinaAccommodation]![ID])" which works fine in MS Access giving me a different order each time.
The problem is that when I try run it on the website the order remains the same, it does not change each time the page is loaded.
