My problem is that when I click on a linkbutton than the one selected, it doesn't highlight the selected linkbutton, because postback has been initialized. Instead it highlights the linkbutton that I have specified in the Page_Load event.

Forms Data Controls :: Strange DataList RowCommand - Linkbutton Does Not Fire __onPostBack After Second Click?

Jun 30, 2006

I've got a strange problem that is proving very difficult to debug.I am using a DataList to show some data from a database. I'm using the DataLists's SelectedItemTemplate to show or hide a sub-grid (GridView) depending on if the object has child objects in an arraylist. The 'show/hide' button works to show the GridView. When I click the button a second time it hides the GridView, as it should.However AFTER the second click, the button acts like it is disabled on the client side. It doesn't fire a postback, although other buttons in the datalist still work. Basically I can only view the child grid for a row once - clicking another row and then going back to the original row makes the original button 'active' againHere's my ASP.NET markup:

JQuery Load And Datalist Linkbutton Not Posting Back

Feb 8, 2011

I am loading an aspx page into a div using jquery.load(). The aspx page loaded into the div has a datalist. Each datalist item has a linkbutton. My problem is that the linkbutton is not causing a postback though. Strangely, if I change the linkbutton to a button, it does postback. Also, when loading the page normally (not from a jquery.load event), the linkbutton performs correctly. What is it that causes the linkbutton to not cause a postback when loaded this way? And is there a better way to handle this?

Forms Data Controls :: LinkButton OnClick Inside ItemTemplate Of A DataList Not Firing

Apr 14, 2010

Very new to ASP.NET (using C# behind) and am having trouble figuring out the following scenario. I have a DataList that is populated (code below) and wanted each cell to be clickable. When the cell is clicked I wanted to know the unique ID for that cell. In my code behind, my OnClick method looks like this:

However I never get there. It seems as if the linkbutton always refers to some javascript callback function and just reloads my form. Am I using the wrong control for what I want to do? From this click I want to look up more information from the Key (will roll up the datalist or set visible to false, then supply the new data on the same page)DataList:

<asp:DataList ID="listSearchResults" Border="1" BorderColor="Black"

Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName);
Response.TransmitFile("/_layouts/Files/" + fileName);

C# - Use LinkButton Inside Gridview To Delete Selected Username In The Code Behind File?

Mar 25, 2011

I have a "UserDetail" table in my "JobPost.mdf". I have a "Gridview1" showing the column from "UserDetail" table,which has a primary key "UserName". This "UserName" is originally saved using Membership class function. Now I add a "Delete" linkbutton to the GridView1. This "Delete" is not autogenerate button,I dragged inside the column itemtemplate from ToolBox. The GridView1's columns now become "Delete_LinkButton"+"UserName"(within the UserDetail table)+"City"(within the UserDetail table)+"IsAdmin"(within the UserDetail table) What I need is that by clicking this "delete_linkButton",it will ONLY delete the entire User Entity on the same row (link by the corresponding "UserName") from the "UserDetail" table,as well as delete all information from the AspNetDB.mdf (User,Membership,UserInRole,etc). I would like to fireup a user confirm,but not mandatory. At least I am trying to make it functional in the correct way. for example:

Command UserName City IsAdmin
delete ken Los Angles TRUE
delete jim Toronto FALSE

When I click "delete" on the first row, I need all the record about "ken" inside the "UserDetail" table to be removed. Meanwhile, all the record about "ken" in the AspNetDB.mdf will be gone, including UserinRole table.....
