Ajax Javascript Error, Break Point Points To The View State?

Oct 13, 2010

I have an aspx page that is getting an Object Expected javascript error on submit, but when you break into the error the breakpoint is somewhere in the middle of the __VIEWSTATE input html element.A javascript stack dump shows just "{anonymous}(null)".What does this mean and how does one go about debugging further?

MVC :: How To Set A Break Point In A Razor View

Nov 11, 2010

I can't seem to figure out how to set a breakpoint in a Razor view. I understand why that might seem a little weird and may be difficult since a cshtml file is a combination of html and then c# code, but I can step into it. The ability to step into it makes it seem like I should be able to set a breakpoint. Am I missing how to do this or is this not possible in the RC? If not any plans to add this before RTM or in the future?

Why Won't VS 2005 Hit The Break Points

Feb 12, 2010

I'm going crazy and wasting a lot of time. I am running in DEBUG, checked the web.config to ensure debug=true is there, checked the code to ensure I am reaching it, cleared all temp files and pdb's. The only thing that works is to continually kill the solution, create a new solution and add all the projects again.I shouldn't have to do this every day.

VS 2005 Setting Break Points But Program Does Not Stop?

Jan 21, 2010

I just finished getting my application working, this is an Ajax Web Enabled program using Ajax AutoCompletExtende and a Web Service. asmx within the same project.

To my big surprise I am not able to debug, I am setting break points but program does not stop. Example, I have added a TextBox control moving "Hello World" into it. The page shows the value of the TextBox but does not stop at the break point.

Debugger (break Points) Not Working In Visual Studio 2008?

Mar 15, 2011

I have an application in Visual Studio 2008. I have been working with it for some time. Today, suddenly, it will not debug, or more specifically it does not stop at the breakpoints I created in Visual Studio. It just ignores them. I tested the break points by adding one at the opening of the Page_Load event and nothing. If I put in a mistake on purpose the application will build, the internet explorer opens, and gives me an error report. It has never done this before. Usually it stops IE from opening and gives me a list of errors at the bottom of the VS screen. I want my old VS back. I don't see how this could have changed it but I'll mention the things I've worked on recently. I've been trying to configure the session states in the web.config page, and then recently I started a new web page with a conection to a database and gridview. I have restarted VS and nothing has changed.

Cannot See The Break Point When Debug An Application

Jan 21, 2010

I've defined a route in Application_Start, as so many tutorials have instructed

RouteTable.Routes.Add(
"Files",
new Route("Files/Art",
new FileRouteHandler()));

And created my own RouteHandler. However this doesn't seem to work at all. When I debug the application, I can see (via a break point) that the route gets added, however when I browse to "http://localhost/MyApplication/Files/Art" I get a browser 404 (not an ASP.net 404).

Debugging - Can't Debug In VS2005 Won't Stop At Break Point?

Oct 29, 2010

I have an puzzling problem. I have a new ASP.NET web application in VS2005 that runs fairly well, but I am having a problem and would like to set a break point to see what is going on. I have compiled the project in Debug mode. I have debug=true set in the web.config. But it appears that the IDE is not attaching to the process at all. Have I overlooked something? I am using the development server and not IIS. This has never been a problem in the past, but is this time.

I'm running ASP.NET on Visual Studio 2005, and I am not able to step through my break points when I run my application in "Debug" mode. I set the break points, run the application, and Visual Studio simply ignores them.I have gone through all of the configuration settings and project properties to see if their is something obvious that needs to be turned "on" - but I don't see anything. What would be the most logical settings or references to look at?

Serverside Controls Vs Html Controls From AJAX Point Of View

Mar 8, 2010

i know this question have been mentioned alot here but mine is a little more updated, now with ASP.net 4 and new Ajax client templating plus JASON services. so if i got all these new capabilities will i really need server side controls as long as i can bind on client side, create data-views on client side heck i can even use data-context and apply CRUD operations on clients side.

so i actually i wont need button_click server side event or what so ever... i am asking this because i own some commercial Controls like Telerik and Component art and they both offer client side operations ow but still i am confused as to my knowledge creating these controls will still have to go through Page Life cycle

State Management :: How To Control And Add Extra History Points In IE8 Back Button

Jun 23, 2010

I wasn't sure where to post this type of question so here you go. The title says it all really I'm using the Microsoft.web.preview dll so that we can provide history support for the Ajax controls used in a .net 2.0 project. This works in IE6 but fails to function correctly in IE8 it appears to add additional history points when you attempt to navigate backwards through history.

Enter the page > Make a change using Ajax (add history point) > press back button you would expect to go back to initial page state but another two history points have been inserted between your initial page request and new your manually added history point. there is no where in the code that is adding these additional history points by accident. Remember it works perfectly under IE6. What are my options do I have to upgrade to 3.5 .net to make use of the history functionality built into the scriptmanager?

Web User Control With Javascript Used Multiple Times On A Page - How To Make Javascript Functions Point At The Correct Controls

Apr 12, 2010

I think I summed up the question in the title. Here is some further elaboration...I have a web user control that is used in multiple places, sometimes more than once on a given page. The web user control has a specific set of JavaScript functions (mostly jQuery code) that are containted within *.js files and automatically inserted into page headers. However, when I want to use the control more than once on a page, the *.js files are included 'n' number of times and, rightly so, the browser gets confused as to which control it's meant to be executing which function on.What do I need to do in order to resolve this problem? I've been staring at this all day and I'm at a loss.

Error On Ambiguous Reference Points To Same Method Twice

Oct 25, 2010

I used this brilliant solution to convert a linq query to a datatable. But I'm getting a strange error when running it. Build succeeds though.

Compiler Error Message: CS0121: The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties:
'Gruppkoll.App_Code.ConvertToDataTableFromLinqResult.ToADOTable<Gruppkoll.MessageSet
(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<Gruppkoll.MessageSet>)' and
'Gruppkoll.App_Code.ConvertToDataTableFromLinqResult.ToADOTable<Gruppkoll.MessageSet (System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<Gruppkoll.MessageSet>)'

I've tried re-building it and restarting the IIS. It seems as there are two classes with the same method but I've checked this and that's not the case. I'm using .NET 4.0 ASP.NET Webforms.
