Ascx Pages And CSS?

m hoping someone might know what's going on with this issue.I have a directy called _controls where I store all of my .ascx pages for use in my site.I have a master page that has a link to my .css file for the whole site.The individual .aspx pages are reading the style sheet with no issues. But the .ascx pages keep flagging the class as undefined in the code view, and when I execute them on the actual site, the style doesn't take effect.I have a theory. Because I have the link in the master page defined as
"/Public/ASP.css"
the _controls directory .ascx files aren't linking properly. Any one run across this before?

I would like to put a login.ascx on all pages. I would like if I write in my datas with error the usercontrol shows the error and stays on the same page.

My login controller validates input put the errors in modelstate. Now I want to redirect to my original page (whatever it was)
WITH the modelstate.
Is it possible somehow?
I can redirect with: Response.Redirect(HttpContext.Request.UrlReferrer.AbsolutePath); but it is another roundtrip the modelState is cleared.

I have a master page with a ascx control I use for a header. There is a label in HeaderControl1 I need to set from the content pages. I was able to make the changes in the master template as a tes by just calling the control and accessing the property.

We are developing a framework which will be shared accross applications. What is the best way to share master pages, user controls accross applications by preventing other developers to modify the master pages and the user controls ?
Is the following way suitable one ? Embedding masterpages and the user controls in a dll and using VirtualPathProvider to load the master pages and user controls dynamically.
But in this approach developers can not view the design. Is there any other way to convert master pages and user controls to a different format as developers can able to view design?

For a web application developed on ASP.NET, we are finding that for user control files (ascx) we are returning long strings as a result of method calls. These are embedded in the ascx pages using the special tags <% %>When performing memory dump analysis for the application, we find that many of those strings are not being garbage collected. Also, the ascx pages are compiled to temporary DLLs and they are held in memory. Is this responsible for causing the long strings to remain in memory and not be garbage collected ?

I have to build a few ascx partial views in my MVC applications to encapsulate re-usable functionalities as well as archive SOR and SOC. However, I encountered challenge how to encapsulate the business logic that drives MVC ascx views.In webforms, the code behind of an ASCX control can handle a button click event and browser still shows the same page with only one postback. How can I archive the same thing in MVC? When ~/Address/Edit/2 includes an ascx partial view with a button on it that calls another MVC action - let's say ~/ShareController/CommonAction - what is the best way for the CmmonAction to return to the very same view that includes the ascx file?Perhaps I am missing a common pattern in MVC web development?

I am having difficulties how to construct my question, but if I have to put it simply the situation is that I have categories of products. I have an aspx with a repeater on the left that lists the categories. And I want the products to be listed on the right. Category number is variable so I made an ascx with a DataList in it. When I try to do foreach category, ascx = new ascx(); then the DataList within this ascx control is null.
ps: what I want to do is to preload all the products (thre is not much) and hide the divs and fadein fadeout them using jQuery when a category div is clicked.
rightnow it is using jQuery.load(); and I don't like how the images load, cuz they download from top to bottom. Progressive gifs alsdo not an option. site demo is here [URL]

I'm developing second language support for the site. So I made duplicate .ascx and .aspx files for existing ascx.cs and aspx.cs
Most of the time everything works fine.. but suddenly I'm getting:

i have made a BaseUserControl.ascx and a ChildUserControl.ascxfile. both have its own code behind file.So what i want, i wanted to inharit ChildUserControl.ascx fileto BaseUserControl.ascx. so whatever in my BaseUserControl.ascx fileshould be visible into the ChildUserControl.ascx,means if i have kept a TextBox in BaseUserControl.ascx should be visibleinto the ChildUserControl.ascx desing view. and it should be accessible into the ChildUserControl.ascx code behind file.

i'm developing a site using VS2010 and with my windows vista busniness OS. i used the default VS2010 wizard for new web application to create it. included a folder in the root directory and created new aspx pages to derive from the master page in the root directory of my site. everything shows on the new pages except the jpeg image logo in the master page. But other aspx pages i created in the root directory shows every thing fine.

Page B - loads slowly and needs to do some CPU-intensive operations on the web server.
I noticed that when someone is loading Page B, then Page A also loads slowly. This is even worse if multiple users are loading Page B at the same time. Page A won't finish loading until Page B is done.
Is there a best practice for making sure that Page A can still load quickly? Maybe a config setting or IIS setting that I need to change from its default? With 2 users loading Page B at the same time, the web server CPU usage only gets to 30% so I suspect it might be something I can tweak with the settings.

Currently I'm doing common functionality required throughout my site inside of my masterpage. What I want to do is move this functionality to a BaseClass so All my pages inherit from the Base Class. However, I'm not sure how to set this up interms of c# code with regards to Using a Base Class and then having a masterpage applied to my aspx pages that i create.

In my Application_BeginRequest I have code that gets query string value ?c=FR or ?c=US and store it in cookies.Based on query string value I have either US or FR,locale is selected from locale table.If ?c=FR then locale will be fr-FR and if it is US then locale will be en-US.My code is below.

Now when I run the project and in query string I set [URL] then for the very first page(home page itself) it shows me French translation,but on subsequent page,that query string parameter ?c=FR is lost and hence it shows be English translation not French translation since it does not pickup French resx file.If I manually append ?c=FR in subsequent page then it shows the French translation.Is there is way how I can make that query stringparameter available in all pages.Structure is there to hold Country and locale variables. In all pages I am calling GetLocalizationInfo() method as follow

I have a few pages that are completely static. They only change at build time. But they are expensive to create. For the ones that are kind of expensive to create, I cache them for very long times using the ASP.NET output caching. But for one page, I really want it cached forever and ever or until the the next build.
What is the most expedient way to make this happen? Is there a build in feature that achieves this or a 3rd party tool?
(yeah, for the moment I plan to do the "view source" and copy paste thing, which isn't a very elegant build step)

I have added a jquey menu in my master page its working fine for those asp.net pages which are at the same level as master page.
But this menu isn't working at all for all of those page which aur in Editor's and Admin's folder. In these pages menu is displaying as simple html menu and unfortunately no jquery effect is shown on it.
I'm very confused why this menu isn't working for the pages which are in a seprate folder while the master page is added at the root level outside of all these folders.

How do you implement SquishIt to bundle Css/Js across View Pages and Render it in the Master page? I thought I could use a ContentPlaceHolder above the Render portion, but there seems to be some odd behavior where it sometimes adds 3 files (1 in the view page and 2 in the master page) but other times will ignore the file added from the View Page.

Is it possible with ASP.NET Master Pages to create content pages dynamically?That is, I know we can create content dynamically, but the content pages themselves,can those be created programmatically? I want to give my users the ability to define new content pages (i.e. Categories: Sofas, Tables, Lamps, and add/delete as they see fit) through a management panel. I have a ViewModel to encapsulate 3 different models for use in one view. The problem I'm having is that the .ascx is not refreshing on the page. It's as if it's being cached somewhere, but I don't know why. Here's my ascx:

I can make changes to the "OrderForm.aspx" page and they'll display in my browser, but any changes made to the "Order.ascx" page does not show in my browser.

We run a PHP-website through IIS v6.0 (windows server 2003). The site was configured by an ex-collegue. Now I have to add a couple of existing
ASP-pages to the site. I have tried this, but it won't work. When calling an ASP page in Internet Explorer, we get the following message : "The page cannot be found". However, if I rename the asp-pages to php, it does work fine, but this is not the way I want it to work (I like to keep the asp pages, to be sure they work well). Can one configure IIS so ASP pages can run aside our existing PHP-pages ?
