Button Controls Calling Wrong Control Events?
Jun 10, 2010I have a couple of buttons controls in my gridview pagetemplate. when i click in next page button it is calling wrong events calling my dropdownlist_selectedIndexChange event?

Aug 12, 2010Since i have 5 buttons that pretty much run the same code, except for the database updates, i found some examples of how to do this.. so i created 1 button event, and put my general calc code then some if statements to determine what button was clicked.. but doing this now i get a NullReferenceException
and here is the code its complaining about, why would this work within the other button events, but not this one? Ive compared and and all the buttons on the page are the same with the except of the database entries.

State Management :: Data Being Saved To Wrong Table In Wrong Instance Of Sqlserver Of Wrong Database?
Aug 1, 2010I have a weird thing happening. I have two identical databases installed on one virtual machine but under two different instances of SQLServer. For some reason, periodically when saving from one it will save to the other instead. Using debug, I have verified that the connection string is correct and when the item saves, it still saves to the wrong database.I use session variable, and am of the belief that it might have something to do with it...and t hat when I go from one to the other it is still getting the connection string form the other for some reason.To make sure that it isn't a problem, I make sure that I completely close out one database before opening the other in a new IE window.I assume that when I completely close out an internet explorer window that it abandons all session states. Is that true?

Aug 3, 2010I have an update panel on the parent page into which I load and remove a set of user controls.
Now, when a button is pressed on the user control, the events are fired but there are no changes in the page. For example:
Main Page
<updatePanelMain>
<childcontrol1>
<childcontrol2>
etc
ChildControl.ascx
<update panel 1>
<panel1/>
<panel2/>
<btn1/>
etc
So, if I want to hide panel 1 when btn1 is clicked etc, I simple use code such as panel1.visible = false.
All this gets executed but nothing happens to the page.

Forms Data Controls :: DetailsView Jumping To Wrong Record After Clicking Update Button?
Jan 20, 2010I have a web form with a detailsview controlled by a linkbutton in a gridview. When the user clicks the linkbutton, a panel appears with the detailsview inside it. The select statement is created based on the commandargument of the link button. So far, if there is a record associated with the ID passed through the linkbutton, the detailsview displays correctly. However, if the user needs to update this, it jumps to the default record for that detailsview after clicking the standard update link. Without a default ID set, the detailsview does not display at all, as some IDs do not yet have a corresponding record for the detailsview.
How can I get around this issue? Also - is there a way to immediately display an open detailsview for IDs with no record associated yet?

I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?

Aug 12, 2010I have a text box and many buttons. When user is in some text box and presses the "enter" key then specific button click event is raised. I read on the internet that there are some problems with the "enter" key and I tried few solutions but still it always enters that button event (that button is the first button in the page).
I tried creating a button which does nothing and writing this in the page_load:

I have two databases that have exactly the same tables but different database names on the same virtual machine, but in different instances of SQL Server. For some reason, when using one of them, it will save to the other. In debug, looking at my connection string..I have verified that it is correct, yet when I allow the save, I look in the table and it isn't there, it is in the other database that is in a table with a completely different name and in a different instance of SQL Server.

Oct 19, 2010I have a page with 2 Controls, a ListBox and a DropDownList.
In the DropDownList you can select a PLACE.
In the ListBox you can see all DOCUMENTS for the selected PLACE.
If you select a DOCUMENT, the program does a redirect on the selected DOCUMENT.
So, there are an AutoPostBack and an Event (if you select another Item) on both Controls.
The problem is: If I select a PLACE, then I select a DOCUMENT (the pdf document is opened), and then I go back on the page and I want to select another PLACE, the program doesn't select another PLACE, but opens the old DOCUMENT, because there are 2 Events, one to change the PLACE and one to open the DOCUMENTS.
Can I give a priority at the Events?

Now when i press a button it will go to my code and i will then try to detect for RegularExpressionValidator or CompareValidator errors by doing:
If not RegularExpressionValidator.IsValid
Now the question is if there is a way to bind the button with the validators so it will not trigger the code if the expressions are wrong.
I would have goggled it but i don't know exactly what to write on the search box.So i get un-useful results.

Dec 11, 2010I have a user control with a textbox and a gridview. When data is entered into textbox it has to get data from the database and populate in the gridview. The grid view has add,edit and delete events.The user control is loaded dynamically multiple times on to the page.My issue is when i have 2 or more user controls and if textbox of usercontrol1 is changed, it reloads both the controls and fires the postback event of textbox twice each for the user control, where as it has to execute only once. due to which the data modifications in the grid are lost as it pulls back the data once again from the database.

Mar 10, 2011In my project. I used ExtendedGridView to display stock info by location . I want to add two special column in this grid. One col is radio button field and another one is checkbox field. When user click radio button, I will show the next grid below the first grid.
When user select the checkbox, the system should allow to select multi check box and then I have to proceed in updating and show other fields.
But I never done two events in grid view. I am still finding the way to develop this requirement .
