C# - CheckBoxList Binding Needs Second Collection To Determine Checked Status?
Oct 11, 2010
I have a situation where I need to databind a string array to a CheckBoxList. The decision if each item should be checked, or not, needs to be done by using a different string array. Here's a code sample:
string[] supportedTransports = ... ;// "sms,tcp,http,direct"
string[] transports = ... ; // subset of the above, i.e. "sms,http"
// bind supportedTransports to the CheckBoxList
TransportsCheckBoxList.DataSource = supportedTransports;
TransportsCheckBoxList.DataBind();
This binds nicely, but each item is unchecked. I need to query transports, somehow, to determine the checked status. I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this with CheckBoxList or if I have to create some kind of adapter and bind to that?
I've a list page with check box for each row.When records are selected by checking the Checkbox, it will open a pop-up window for those selected records .When the pop-up is closed, i want to retain he checked status of the checkbox in the base page, just to keep track of what i selected. But curently it is not happening.
I have some checkboxlists on a webform. Based on some options chosen by the user i make some default selections from the checkbox list and disable the entire list on the client side. When i submit the page i'm not getting the selected items from the checkbox list, when i debug i found that listitem.Selected always returns false even though the listitem is selected, i understand this is because the entire checkbox list(all check boxes) is disabled. how to get this with out writing any extra code which is my last option.
I have a page that im using javascript to do a select all / unselect all for my checkboxes on the page. Now i need to determine in the code behind if all of them are checked, im wondering if it would be easier to just set a session or something whenthe select all is checked, but that wouldnt be accurate, because after you select all, you still can uncheck some..
So i need it to check at the time the button is clicked.. there are currectly 30 checkboxes, NOT a checkboxlist.
I tried using the site search but getting an error has occured when i click to search..
I am trying to set the checked status of a radiobutton in code, but it doesnt retain after the code-behind execution completes. It still shows the design time checked status.
I'm having a bit of trouble with my CheckBoxList control in ASP.NET - it seems to not store the values that I have checked (?)This is the test-code I have at the moment:
for (int i = 0; i < cbMemberTypes.Items.Count; i++) { if (cbMemberTypes.Items[i].Selected) { // do stuff } }
I have tried to output the amount of checked items, but it is always returning 0. I'm rather lost here, because in my other usercontrol, it works perfectly!
i want to show checkboxlist listitem checked according to option value saved in DB like this:
,2, 2 1,,3 1,2,3
//accessing value protected void getreportType() { SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT * from reporttype", con); con.Open(); CheckBoxList1.DataSource = cmd.ExecuteReader(); CheckBoxList1.DataBind(); con.Close(); //getting previous checked items SqlCommand cmdx = new SqlCommand("SELECT report_type from projects where serial_no='" + Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["id"].ToString()) + "'", con);......
but it is only shows checked item of column which have single value without comma means like "2" otherwise not shows any selected listitem from any colums
I have a CheckBoxList in my page, with the DataTextField and DataValueField attributes set, is there an attribute that I can use to specify a property that indicates if it should be checked?
I'm hoping to just set the datasource, and not have to have any code behind to set the checked property. Possible?
i m using checkedlistbox controle. i bind database single column to this controle and i want to check cheked property or indices is checked or not so what i do now?
I had few checkbox in a checkboxlist ,On selecting the checkbox I need to create a XML file with the selected checkbox values. How to create the xml file??
I need to manually page a GridView based report, i.e. add a second page and GridView, when the height of my first GridView exceeds a limit. Is there a way I can determine the height of the GridView while data binding?
but what if I wanted to bind to collection items within the ViewModel. I'm not sure if it's possible. Here's what I have:
My ViewModel:
[code]....
I'm getting the following error: Templates can be used only with field access, property access, single-dimension array index, or single-parameter custom indexer expressions.
I'm working on the admin tool and am using DetailsView to edit the records (.net 2.0). In the screenshot below, the left is the GridView, and the right is the DetailsView. When a user clicks "Select" in the GridView, I am trying to display the assigned Sectors stored in the database via a checkboxlist (activities can have multiple sectors). This way, the Admin user could just uncheck/check what sectors they want to change. Unfortunately, I can only get the first sector that's stored database to show up.
Is it possible for the Checkboxlist control to allow for more than one box to be checked at the same time? If so, do I need to create a custom funcion (via looping) in order to populate the checkboxlist accordingly? I've ran into 3 articles so far that imply that, but can't get the For Each to work for my situation:
I have a DetailsView control which gets data from a IEnumerable custom class. But I can't get updated values from the control so I can process to update them manually in the database. How can I do that?
List<ThemeObject> themeList = (from theme in database.Themes join image in database.DBImages on theme.imageID equals image.imageID into resultSet from item in resultSet select new ThemeObject { Name = theme.Name, ImageID = item.imageID}).ToList(); dgvGridView.DataSource = themeList; dgvGridView.DataBind();
The list object populates fine. The datagrid is setup with 2 columns. A textbox column for the "Name" which is bound to "Name" An image column which is bound to the "ImageID" field. When I execute the code I receive the following error on the DataBind() Could not determine a MetaTable. A MetaTable could not be determined for the data source '' and one could not be inferred from the request URL. Make sure that the table is mapped to the dats source, or that the data source is configured with a valid context type and table name, or that the request is part of a registered DynamicDataRoute. I'm not using any dynamicdataroutes as far as I can tell. Has anyone experienced this error before?
I have a FormView which will bind values from the database using a ID parameter from queryString. In my database, I have a field named CategoryList which can store multiple CategoryID (From Category table) in CSV format (eg: "1,3,4,5"). I'm using SQLDataSource as my datasource.
So, I want to show the selected category in CheckBoxList. Meaning that, the checkbox will be checked (on page load) if its ID is in the CategoryList. Also, I want to allow the user to check/uncheck the CheckBoxList and updates to the database in CSV format. How can i do that?
i have an objectdatasource bound to the System.Web.Security.Roles getAllRoles methods, this method returns an string[] with the names of the roles, then i wanna bind a gridview with this datasource, but it shows me just a one column named length(the length of each role name), how can i instead the length of the string that represent the role name, put the role name?
im learning webforms and asp.net in general and what i have so far is a formview that displays data being pulled from a sqldatasource, but i also want a checkboxlist that can be used to input information and display information. this checkboxlist is insode the formview. the problem im having is that my formview is calling a datasource with an specific stored procedure with one table and my checkboxlist needs to called another stored procedure that has a different table. formviews does not allow you to have tow different datasources so how can i make this possible? ill paste the front end code and the backend code so you guys can see what im trying to do.
