I have a CheckBoxList in my page, with the DataTextField and DataValueField attributes set, is there an attribute that I can use to specify a property that indicates if it should be checked?
I'm hoping to just set the datasource, and not have to have any code behind to set the checked property. Possible?
I try to get multiple checked items into one coloumn in my db. But i only get the first selected.

I'm working on the admin tool and am using DetailsView to edit the records (.net 2.0). In the screenshot below, the left is the GridView, and the right is the DetailsView. When a user clicks "Select" in the GridView, I am trying to display the assigned Sectors stored in the database via a checkboxlist (activities can have multiple sectors). This way, the Admin user could just uncheck/check what sectors they want to change. Unfortunately, I can only get the first sector that's stored database to show up.
Is it possible for the Checkboxlist control to allow for more than one box to be checked at the same time? If so, do I need to create a custom funcion (via looping) in order to populate the checkboxlist accordingly? I've ran into 3 articles so far that imply that, but can't get the For Each to work for my situation:

I have a CheckBoxList. I want to select checkboxes then calculate a total price for the items selected. The datasource for the CheckBoxList is a join of two tables and contains the information I want to retrieve. The DataTextField = ItemName and DataValue = ItemPrice. Code behind is C#.

I have a situation where I need to databind a string array to a CheckBoxList. The decision if each item should be checked, or not, needs to be done by using a different string array. Here's a code sample:

This binds nicely, but each item is unchecked. I need to query transports, somehow, to determine the checked status. I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this with CheckBoxList or if I have to create some kind of adapter and bind to that?

So I want asp.net to parse automatically all lists (that can be parsed) generically.
I know I could take the way around it and make MyList a string, then parse that into a list, but then I just end up with more properties than I want tbh.

View 1 RepliesI have an ASCX that inherits from a WebControl that has a 'CustomConfiguration' property of type CollectionConfigurationItem. This configuration gets set elsewhere in the code, so by the time it gets to the ASCX it is set up to how I wish to use the data. At this point I'd like to render out another control using this configuration, like so:

However, breaking into DataModule always results in 'CustomConfiguration' being null, which is the default value for the property. I've tried adding a Bindable attribute to the property but to no avail, and when I set an EventHandler for the DataBinding event on the DataModule it doesn't even get called.
How can I set this custom-class-typed property from the markup or, failing that what's the second-best method of getting this to work?
I have an asp.net repeater control with a series of asp:hyperlink's

and then on the OnItemDataBound method:
fullname.NavigationUrl=string.Format(name.NavigationUrl, user.fileid, user.userid);
So that gives me a series of URLs in the repeater:

OK, so with a simple proxy tool someone can replace either of the parameters with some OTHER number to get access to what they shouldn't see.
server-side validation and authentication aside, is there a better method other than passing parameters when trying to create a dynamic URL within a repeater?
Is it possible to do things in a PHPish way in ASP.Net? I've seen <%= %> but I've tried it and couldn't get it to work. The PHPish equivalent of what I want to do is

A question from a non-web-designer about the preferred - and least browser-sensitive - way of shifting users controls a few pixels horizontally and vertically if I'm using divs instead of table cells.
If you look at this top part of a web page, you will notice that the lower menu is a couple of pixels too far to the left and a couple pixels too high. (Note right edge doesn't line up with the menu above it. Also, tops of image buttons to the right of the lower control are clipped.)
Can I position them absolutely, or use white space to shift the lower one into alignment?

On a modular popup I have placed a checkboxlist and added items programmatically. Unfortunately I cannot get all selected items when I click the Ok Button. Me.CheckBoxListAddMyPoint.Items.Count is equal to 0 even if there are checked values.
