C# - Create An XML File Using Datasets Using Info From XML Schema
Mar 22, 2010
I have been thinking about the optimal way to create an XML file using data from a Dataset AND according to the rules of an XML schema. I've been searching around for a bit, and I failed to find a way in which I only take the data from the Dataset and put it inside a XML tags, with the tags being defined by an already-existing schema. So it might go like this:
1- Create Dataset and fill its rows with data.
2- Create an XML according to an XML schema rules.
3- Fill said XML file with data from Dataset such that data is taken from the Dataset while structure of the XML file is taken from the XML schema.
I have two datasets, one is populated from a SQL Database on my server, the other is populated from an XML file passed from the client server.Both datasets are identical in structure (and potentially the same in data as well)hat I need to be able to do is as follows:-Compare Dataset1 against Dataset2 and record which rows are missing from Dataset2 (based on 2 primary fields)Compare Dataset2 against Dataset1 and record which rows are missing from Dataset1 (based on 2 primary fields)Compare Dataset1 against Dataset2 and record any rows which are different ((based on 2 primary fields always being the same and 3 fields being potentially different)
I think I need something like this after my last line from above:
Col1=first TEXT width 150
My text file has 7 columns, the first row is the header row. The data comes from a Micosoft SQL Server Database where the fields are of the following types:
I have an xsd that describes XHTML documents. However the application I'm working with may have some selected asp.net controls within to the markup at the point is validated. Therefore the validation fails.
An example control could be:
<smart:Address runat="server" />
I wanted to add a new element to the xsd file but when I specify:
<xs:element name="smart:Address">
I get validation errors as an element name must not have a colon in it.
how I might be able to extend the schema file to allow selected server controls?
How to link multiple DataSets (why SSRS call it a DataSet even there is only one bunch of data fields in it) using keys, then put data fields from multiple DataSets into one Data Region? The reason I have to do this is: There will be 6 major DataSets to be used together few times in same report, it is not make sense to build a huge Matrix for all of them together. (in some data region I use data from dataset A and B, some times I use data from dataset A and C, D ...)
In other languages (PHP/Python), I am used to creating a class which represents a given HTML page layout. These classes can have an unlimited number of attributes and dynamic features, such as Navigation (multi level), error messages, info messages, footer text, etc... Most of these items have defaults, but may be overridden on a per-page level. For example:
# do something except ValidationError as e: Layout.Error.Add(e)
or a php example:
$Layout->Info[] = "Your changes have been saved!";
My question is: how do I implement similar functionality into ASP.Net MVC 3 Razor (VB)?
So far, I have been able to see how you can use ViewData to pass various bits of data to a view. Also, I have been working with strongly typed views.
Frankly, I'm not sure who's job it is to have this logic, the controller or the view (or is there a model that should be in there somewhere).
Here is a summary of what I am shooting for:
A single place to initialize the default values for the layout (like the first layer of navigation, etc...) Strongly typed attributes, such as Public Readonly Property Nav1 as List(of NavElement) And a single place to render these layout elements (I assume _Layout.vbhtml)
I'm trying to figure out the "right way" it's done on a platform that is both new (Razor) and new to me (ASP.Net MVC).
I have a SQL Server 2008 DB with many tables filled with data and I used SQL Server Management Studio to generate a SQL dump by using the Script Wizard : Tasks -> Generate Scripts -> Script All objects in the selected database and also selecting the option to Script Data. I made sure to change the value of "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2008". Then I created a new DB and ran the SQL dump on the new DB to generate an identical copy of the old DB. Then I assigned permissions to my default user to the new DB. Then I changed the connection string on my ASP.NET application to use the new DB. But when I run it, it throws the following exception -
Server Error in '/myapp' Application. The 'System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider' requires a database schema compatible with schema version '1'. However, the current database schema is not compatible with this version. You may need to either install a compatible schema with aspnet_regsql.exe (available in the framework installation directory), or upgrade the provider to a newer version. I'm looking to create a page with version and contact info. I want the page to open in the parent page and to be smaller than the main page. I also want the focus to be on the "about" page till it's closed..
I'm building an ASP.NET MVC 2 site where I'm currently implementing an OpenID sign-up form. Unfortunately, I'm foreseeing a possible security bug/vulnerability inside my architecture.
Here's how I want OpenID login to work:
User requests /Account/Login, Controller sends back OpenIDLogin View. User enters their OpenID into the View, then OpenID authorization takes place, and finally the OpenID is returned to the Controller.The Controller checks whether the OpenID is currently in use by a user in the system or not. If it is, the user is logged in to that account. If not, the registration process begins.
And now, the OpenID registration process:
The OpenID identifier, as well as any other information provided by the OpenID provider (such as email address or name), is put into my custom ViewModel and sent to my OpenIDRegistrationForm View.The RegistrationForm View stores the OpenID in a hidden field to make sure that it gets sent back to the Controller.The user fills in the RegistrationForm View and sends it back to the Controller.The Controller creates the user account and puts the OpenID into the database.
The bug that I see within my architecture is that a user could modify the hidden value in the RegistrationForm View. Thus, they could spoof their OpenID! I will make sure to add another round of checking to the final Registration Controller Action to make sure that the OpenID that is provided doesn't exist yet, but there is still a possibility for spoofing. Can my architecture be improved somehow? I don't want this to end badly...
One solution I'm considering is encrypting the OpenID before I send it to the View and then decrypting it when it reaches the Controller. Should I try this?
I have a page where im listing out the files within a directory. How can i get the path to the files that are listed?
in other words, i want the path to the file to be like this:
http://server.com/files/pdfs/mypdf.pdf
but using this string url = Request.RawUrl.ToString(); returns [ http://server.com/files/pdfs/default.aspxMYPDF.PDF ]
That file is actually within a sub directory of the pdfs folder. So the link is obvisously not correct. Ive tried other suggestions found online, but those return the link like this [ http://server.com/files/pdfs/MYPDF.PDF ] again missing the subdirectory it actually belongs to.
completeFilePath is the full path of the uploaded file. This code breaks and throws file not found exception.however, if i look down in the physical directory,file exists there.
Am i missing something or will i have to download this uploaded file again to some temp location and then extract version info from this file.
Second option i had was to get version info before uploading the file. In this case i am not able to get complete path of this patch file as fileupload control just gives the fileName and not the complete location.
I'm trying to parse a HTML file to retrieve certain info in my asp.net app. I've looked at the html agility pack but found that also quite difficult. :-) As my HTML should be pretty standard I'm hoping regex is quick and easy. I need a regex that will look through the html file (which I've loaded into a string) and find the below line and take out the DATATOEXTRACT (which will be some sort of text, the name of a recipe in this case) so I can put it into a variable:
When I created table on the shared SQL server on hosting server using management studio, I right click mouse on the table, it pops up create table. However, the table schema is my user name but not dbo. I wnat to create table with dbo schema.
I have a small Access database with some fields, like: date, name, text. Those fields are stored in a record inside MS Access. I also have an PDF file available belonging to that record as described before. I like to store the title of this PDF also in this record. Clicking by an user on this title should show the PDF file in a separate form. The pdf's are all stored in a map called e:pdfs and filename can be as needed. My questions are:
1. how should i bring the pdf names inside the record (like e:pdfsumber-one.pdf ? ) 2. by clicking on this name the pdf file should be showed in a seperate form? 3. clicking means probably a javascript that handles the pdf file ? 4. can anyone give me some clues? I do work with VS2010 and framework 4
I have a FileUpload control on my page. I would like to get hold of the "date created" information of the file before it is uploaded. (Obviously, when you upload the file, the uploaded/copied version has a new "date created", set to the time of when you actually uploaded the file.
i want to create a arraylist which will able to store user info like (username,machineIP,port ) for each user in the list & retrive this data when needed . any one tell me how i can do it or any alternative way without database or xml file.
I am trying to create a second grid in the same page with detailed info for a given record of the first Grid, but when I press select in the first grid nothing happens. I follwed everything I read.
Could not find schema information for the element 'httpruntime'. Could not find schema information for the element 'executionTimeout'. Could not find schema information for the element 'maxRequestLength'.
According to this msdn library link this is how I'm supposed to do it,so what am I missing here?
I have two datasets, each of containing single column. I want to compare each row of first dataset with each row of second dataset and check if any match in the data.How can i implement such a login in VB.NET with minimum iterations.
I have two datasets called ds and ds1 that I want to merge into a grid. I get data from the first dataset to display in the grid but the second dataset where I want to display a count I don't get any data from it. I am trying a ds.Merge(ds1). here is the code i have for the sub. What am I doing incorrectly?
