View 1 RepliesI have a problem with the connection of external files - northwind.MDF Connection to SQL Server is fine.
But to connect to external files wrong. Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Intance Specified)
First,I uploaded a file in a external server and got a url from that server.Now i want to download that uploaded file from the external server through that url which i got from that server through asp.net and c#.I wrote a c# code to download that file, but during that process i got an exception "Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown".The following is the c# code which i wrote to download:
double dlsize=0;
string Url = "http://www.sample.com/download.zip"; \File Size: 75MB
int lastindex = Url.LastIndexOf("/");
string TempUrlName = Url.Substring(lastindex + 1, Url.Length - (lastindex + 1));[code]....
I made a website where I use a lot of ajax calls to call server side functions throuch javascript. The website was working fine in my computer. Later I brought a domain name and uploaded it to a server. Then the website itself was not opening. I was getting 500 error. I tracked down the error to the particular line in the web.config file.

I have an Asp.Net TextBox control whose enabled property I need to evaluate using a separate (from the code-behind of the containing page) class. The way I want to do this is:
<asp:TextBox ID="myTB" runat="server" Enabled="<% ToggleControl(this, "someBusinessValue") %>" ... />
The reason I need to pass a reference to the calling control is to see if there are other properties I may need to consider before disabling it. The 'this' keyword, however, refers to the page as a whole. And since my TextBox can be within a FormView, or GridView, I can't easily just get the control byexamining 'page.myTB'. I don't want to have to start ploughing through GridViews on the receiving class file just to retrieve a reference to the TextBox.Does anyone know how to refer to the control inline in this way?EDIT 1: This will need to be done to several different types of server control, such as ListBox, CheckBox, RadioButtonList, etc.EDIT 2: The best I've come up with so far is:
<asp:TextBox ID="myTB" runat="server" Enabled="<% ToggleControl(myGridView.FindControl("myTB") as WebControl, "someBusinessValue") %>"
I'm trying to post a value to an external site and have managed to piece it together using HttpWebRequest. My problem is that this behaves like a server.transfer. ie it maintains the url. As a result the page I'm posting to doesn't link to any of it's images or stylesheet. Can anyone give me a simple way to do an old style post to an external site?
View 5 RepliesUsing Visual Studio 2010 Web Developer Express (vb.net code) with SqlDataSource to SQL Server 2008.
I am developing an email form to my users to send email to vendors with an attachment. The aspx page is quite simple -- 2 dropdownlists, a fileupload control, and a send email button. They select their store (which populates the "From" address of the email). They select the Vendor (which populates the "To" address of the email). Then they browse for the file attachment and click "send email"
I just can't get outside emails to send. I do not get any error messages in the web page. If I change the email1 and email2 in SQL Server Vendor table to an email address (mine) within the domain I get the emails. However when I change to a test hotmail, yahoo, or gmail accounts the emails never get there. I have absolutely no confidence that my programming is correct so before I go to the IT Manager again I really need to verify I am not missing something on my end. We did make a change on the exchange server to allow anonymous email from my webserver and still didn't work.
Here is my webconfig file:

Here is my aspx page:

I have been playing around with the programming for 2 days making 1 change at a time then testing to see if external email is sending. I'm going quite crazy at this point ...
I've put in breakpoints and debugged. Below is the output from the latest test. I have concerns about the clientDomain being "SQLSVR" which is my webserver name, our domain is "chuckanddons.com". As well as the line "Domain" that is blank " " under NetworkCredential. Also the line TargetName "SMTPSVC/exchangesvr"

I am trying to implement a website that was developed on a test server and make it go live. I am running into an issue with a function within the DB that decrypts a password. Here is the function

View 2 RepliesI have a routine to display an image on an aspx page. The url for the image uses imagerender.aspx . This is simply an empty page with code behind:
myClass mysub = new Myclass(); // create class
Stream strm = mysub.DisplayImage(UserID); // call method to load bytes from db
byte[] buffer = new byte[2048];
int byteSeq = strm.Read(buffer, 0, 2048);
while (byteSeq > 0)
{
Context.Response.OutputStream.Write(buffer, 0, byteSeq);
byteSeq = strm.Read(buffer, 0, 2048);
}
Ok, this work fine when testing on my local machine, but when I move it to the live server, it comes up with an empty image box!
It looks like there must be a problem with security, maybe with ISS.
Does anyone know what changes I can make to fix this problem or what setting to change in IIS 7?
we can bind the image with detailsview.
see following code
